Who would imagine that amidst the pandemic, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines Caloocan City Council can still manage to produce not just one, not just two, but three Chief Girl Scout Medalists?

After a year of working for their Chief Girl Scout Medal Scheme Project, the greatest, bravest and boldest aspirants remained adamant about successfully ending their projects in spite of the pandemic; and here they are - to be awarded virtually this May 21. Nonetheless, they made it!

These girls are Cadet Girl Scout Princess Michaela Jane Orsolino of Tala High School, Cadet Girl Scout Aurea Anne Espiel, and Cadet Girl Scout Donita Rose Morales, both under Bagong Barrio National High School. These three inspiring girls worked under the focus of Ecology and Cultural Heritage to emphasize the need to raise awareness to address the drastic worsening of Climate Change and the gradual fading of Philippine Culture awareness.

In an interview with the awardees, Cadet GS Donita revealed that her project boosted her confidence and public speaking skills. In her exact words,

“Ako yung Donita na mahiyaing tao at walang lakas na loob para humarap sa maraming tao especially to those people who’s in high position. But this project made me realized that I can do more, na may ibubuga pa yung Donita na tulad ko.”

This year’s awardees are now part of the 12 Chief Girl Scout Medalists of Caloocan City Council that completed their one-year development project on ecology, health, livelihood, and cultural heritage in their chosen barangays. Indeed, not even the pandemic can stop girls from engaging with their communities to help transform lives and do their role in nation-building.
