MOUNTAIN STATE YOUTH WRESTLING LEAGUE, TEAM MAHINDRA
From Winfield, West Virginia, Parker Mattocks is a dedicated young wrestler competing in the 10U 95-pound class with Team Mahindra in the Mountain State Youth Wrestling League. With six years of experience on the mat, Parker’s love for wrestling was sparked by his brother-in-law, Austin, and strengthened by great coaches who have helped shape his work ethic and technique.
One of Parker’s standout moments this season came at the Battle of the Coalfields in Chapmanville, where he earned a 1st place finish—a hardearned achievement that reflects his preparation, toughness, and competitive drive. He supports the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Orioles, bringing that same passion for sports into everything he does.
For Parker, being part of a team means having friends and support— people who push each other to get better every day. Off the mat, he stays active and competitive, enjoying baseball, Fortnite, Red Dead Redemption 2, shooting, and archery.
When it comes to role models, Parker looks up to Josh Humphreys, whose hard work, love for wrestling, and willingness to teach have made a lasting impact on his journey. With a strong support system, a growing list of accomplishments, and a genuine love for the sport, Parker Mattocks continues to move forward—getting stronger with every match.

For six and a half years, Eva Mae Tomasek has been flipping, tumbling, and soaring toward her goals — and she shows no signs of slowing down. A proud member of Revolution Gymnastics’ Silver Team, Eva Mae continues to grow her skills and confidence every time she steps onto the mat.
This season brought two major accomplishments she’ll never forget: landing her twist dismount on the balance beam and mastering her back handspring on the floor. Both skills represent hours of practice, determination, and bravery. In gymnastics, progress comes one skill at a time, and Eva Mae has proven she’s willing to put in the work to reach the next level.
A big fan of Simone Biles and the WVU Gymnastics Team, Eva Mae looks up to athletes who combine talent with teamwork. She admires Simone not only because “she is a good gymnast,” but also because she’s kind to her teammates and shines on the floor — qualities Eva Mae hopes to reflect in her own journey.
Outside of gymnastics, Eva Mae enjoys drawing, playing soccer, and spending time playing games. But one of her favorite parts of the sport isn’t just the routines — it’s the friendships. “I love all my gymnastic friends,” she says, highlighting the importance of teamwork and encouragement in a sport that often looks individual but thrives on support.
With strong goals, steady determination, and a love for the sport, Eva Mae Tomasek continues to amaze both on and off the mat. As she keeps setting new milestones and achieving them, her gymnastics journey is only just getting started.

Educate and Elevate Through Oral Health Care: PCTC Dental Assisting Students Bring
February 2026
Students in the Dental Assisting program at Putnam Career and Technical Center recently completed an ambitious service initiative titled “Educate and Elevate Through Oral Health Care.” Designed to promote healthier habits and expand access to preventive care, the project brought free dental cleaning clinics directly to PCTC students and members of the local community.
Over the course of the project, October 2025- March 2026, Dental Assisting students transformed their skills into service—providing dental cleanings, oral health education, and basic preventive assessments at no cost. For many attendees, these clinics offered not only improved oral hygiene but also the confidence and knowledge to maintain long-term dental wellness. What truly set this project apart was the students’ commitment to the SkillsUSA Framework, which emphasizes Personal Skills, Workplace Skills, and Technical Skills as the foundation of career readiness.
The “Educate and Elevate Through Oral Health Care” project showcased how SkillsUSA values come alive when students use their training to uplift their community. By providing accessible care and promoting lifelong oral health habits, PCTC’s Dental Assisting students not only strengthened their clinical skills—they made a meaningful difference in the lives of those they served.

March brings a new season — fresh starts, higher expectations, and bigger moments. But along with the excitement comes pressure. Tryouts, starting spots, close games, and split-second decisions can feel overwhelming. The real question isn’t whether pressure will come — it’s how we respond when it does.
Second Timothy 1:7 reminds us, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” Pressure often feeds fear. Faith feeds focus. Athletes compete physically, but they also compete mentally. The voice that whispers, “Don’t mess this up,” can be louder than the crowd. Faith quiets that voice and replaces it with truth: your value isn’t defined by one play, one mistake, or one scoreboard.
Many athletes prepare with routines — the same warm-up or playlist — but some of the strongest preparation happens in a quiet moment of prayer. Philippians 4:6–7 encourages us to bring our anxiety to God and promises peace in return. That peace doesn’t remove nerves; it steadies them. Instead of competing from fear, you compete from confidence rooted in Christ.
Pressure also grows when we play for the wrong audience. Colossians 3:23 reminds us to work with all our heart as if working for the Lord. When you compete for Him, effort matters more than stats, character matters more than applause, and integrity matters more than trophies.
And when seasons don’t go as planned — through injuries or setbacks — faith anchors us. Romans 8:28 promises that God works even difficult moments for good. What feels like a setback may be preparation for something greater.
This March, train your spirit as faithfully as your body. Pray before you compete. Encourage a teammate. Reflect on your character as much as your performance. The scoreboard will fade, but the faith you build under pressure will last long after the season ends.
From Poca, West Virginia, Prince Brandon has built his football career on confidence, consistency, and a willingness to do whatever the team needs. A six-year athlete and standout at Poca High School, Prince has already made his mark with 27 career touchdowns and a reputation as one of the most impactful players on the field.
As a freshman standout, Prince quickly proved he could compete at a high level. His natural ability paired with his versatility allows him to step into any role coaches ask of him. “I can do anything you tell me to,” he says — a mindset that sets him apart from others at his position. Whether it’s making a big play when it counts or executing the game plan exactly as designed, Prince takes pride in being dependable.
Handling adversity is part of every athlete’s journey, and Prince approaches challenges with focus. “I block everything out,” he explains, choosing to stay locked in on improvement rather than distractions. To him, being coachable means valuing the relationship and trust built with his coaches. “I like when coaches like to coach me — it means a lot.” That mutual respect fuels his growth on and off the field.
While his 27 touchdowns highlight his offensive production, Prince believes his greatest strengths extend beyond statistics. Off the field, he describes himself as someone who helps others and represents his team well — qualities every program looks for in a leader. With a 2.7 GPA and plans to play for GC Motion next season, Prince is continuing to build both his athletic résumé and his future.
As he looks ahead to the college level, Prince is searching for a program with strong football tradition and competitive excellence. His message to coaches is simple: invest in him, and you gain a versatile, team-first player who is ready to contribute to your roster from day one.

From Denver, Colorado, Andre Johnson Jr. is a dynamic playmaker who brings intensity, heart, and versatility every time he steps on the field. Wearing No. 5 for CHSAA and the George Washington Patriots, Andre makes his presence known on both sides of the ball as a running back and linebacker.
Andre has been playing football since the age of four, a journey fueled by passion and dedication from an early age. This season alone provided plenty of unforgettable memories, but one moment stands out above the rest: scoring a touchdown on offense and then following it up with a pick-six on the very next defensive drive. It’s the kind of back-to-back performance that showcases his athleticism, instincts, and ability to change a game in an instant.
A fan of Lamar Jackson and the Colorado Buffaloes, Andre models his game after explosive, do-it-all players who impact every snap. But beyond talent, it’s his character that truly defines him. Described as strong, caring, and relentlessly positive, Andre takes pride in walking his own path and pursuing his goals with confidence.
For Andre, the best part of being on a team goes far beyond wins and losses. He values the lifelong relationships and future networking opportunities that come from being part of something bigger than himself. Off the field, he enjoys music and spending time with friends — balancing discipline with downtime.
When asked about his biggest role model, Andre doesn’t hesitate: his father. Watching him chase his dreams inspires Andre to chase his own with the same determination and work ethic.
With years of experience already behind him and a mindset focused on growth, leadership, and positivity, Andre Johnson Jr. continues to build a story that’s about much more than football — it’s about purpose, passion, and paving his own way.

From Winfield, West Virginia, Camryn Samples is the definition of a student-athlete. A senior at Buffalo High School, Camryn balances elite athletic performance with outstanding academic achievement — carrying a 4.12 GPA while serving as a member of the National Honor Society, Student Body Secretary, and an FBLA National Qualifier.
On the course, Camryn has established herself as one of the top competitors in the state. A First Team AllState honoree (ranked 9th in the state), First Team AllConference selection, and Regional Champion, she continues to push her limits with a Cross Country personal record of 20:22. As a team captain competing in Cross Country, Track, Basketball, Softball, and Cheer, Camryn brings leadership, energy, and a competitive spirit to every season.
Her coaches describe her simply: “A hard worker who likes to win.” That mindset is evident in how she approaches adversity. “I listen to their reasoning and know they are just trying to make me a better athlete,” Camryn explains. To her, being coachable means listening closely and making adjustments — a trait that separates good athletes from great ones. Combined with her self-motivation and relentless drive, she consistently gives her all no matter the event or challenge.
While her accolades and times speak loudly, Camryn believes her greatest strength is her desire to work hard and win in everything she does — not just sports. Whether in the classroom, in leadership roles, or in competition, she strives for excellence.
Looking ahead to the collegiate level, Camryn hopes to join a program where she can continue improving her times and help her team score more points. College programs investing in Camryn aren’t just gaining a talented runner — they’re adding a model student, devoted teammate, and driven competitor ready to represent their program with integrity and pride.

From Scott Depot, Cohen Perry is proving that hard work and heart go a long way on the mound. A pitcher for the Winfield Legends 11U – Travel, Cohen proudly wears No. 25 and has been playing baseball since he was just four years old. Over the years, his love for the game has only grown stronger — fueled by competition, friendship, and the joy of stepping onto the field with his teammates.
One of Cohen’s favorite memories from this past season wasn’t just about wins and strikeouts. It was the experience of traveling out of state, staying in a hotel, and playing baseball alongside his best friends. For Cohen, the best part of being on a team is simple: “We are all best friends playing what we love!” That bond and shared passion make every inning even more special.
An Atlanta Braves fan, Cohen looks up to Ronald Acuña Jr. and admires the way he plays the game with energy and confidence. Off the field, he enjoys watching professional sports and cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals. His biggest role model, though, is Joe Burrow. Cohen respects Burrow’s work ethic, intelligence, and positive attitude — traits he strives to bring to both baseball and everyday life.
With a family that encourages him to always put God first and to give his best effort in everything he does, Cohen continues to grow not only as a player, but as a young leader. Whether he’s commanding the mound or supporting his teammates in the dugout, one thing is clear: Cohen Perry plays the game the right way — with determination, gratitude, and a love for the sport that shines bright.
