NITRO LITTLE LEAGUE – TEAM BURDIE’S BUTTS

#8

Meet 8-year-old Skyler Burns-Davis from Cross Lanes, West Virginia — a rising star in youth baseball who brings energy, enthusiasm, and heart to the field every time he plays. Wearing number 8 and representing Nitro Little League's Burdie’s Butts, Skyler holds down second base with confidence and skill.

This season marks Skyler’s fourth on the diamond, and what drew him to baseball in the first place was simple: “It looked like fun.” That fun quickly turned into memorable moments, especially getting outs at first while playing second base — one of his favorite highlights this year.

Skyler’s favorite player is Elly De La Cruz, and his favorite team to root for is the Cincinnati Reds. But more than anything, it’s the friendships and teamwork that make being part of a team so special to him. “Getting to hang out with your friends and have teamwork,” he says, is what makes it all worthwhile.

Off the field, Skyler stays active and adventurous. He enjoys playing outside, hitting the pickleball court, engaging in epic water balloon baseball battles, and spending quality time with his family.

Speaking of family, Skyler names them as his biggest role models. “Because they are always there for me,” he says — a testament to the strong foundation and support system behind this talented young athlete.

His family couldn’t be prouder. In the words of his loved ones: “We are so proud of you, Skyman! You are a great friend and teammate, and we love watching you play ball! Love you big time, bub!”

With his love for the game, strong family values, and infectious spirit, Skyler Burns-Davis is one to watch as he continues to grow on and off the field.

PLAYER PROFILE

NITRO LITTLE LEAGUE – COACH CLIFF & COACH T’S TEAM

From the city of Nitro, West Virginia comes a fierce competitor with a big heart — 10-year-old Addison Hemingway. Wearing number 3 and playing for Nitro Little League, Addison is a powerful presence on the field, taking on key positions like pitcher, first base, and shortstop.

This is Addison’s second year playing ball, and she’s already making major moves. Her favorite moment of the season? “Pitching awesome and hitting a double!” That kind of excitement and achievement fuels her drive to improve and grow in the sport she’s come to love.

For Addison, it’s not just about the game — it’s about the people. “The bond with the other girls, and the determination to learn so I will be better,” she says, is what makes being on a team so special. That spirit of teamwork and dedication shines through every time she steps onto the field.

When she's not playing softball, Addison enjoys getting creative with one of her favorite hobbies: makeup! Whether it’s on the diamond or at home, she’s always expressing herself with style and confidence.

Addison draws her greatest inspiration from those closest to her — her mom and dad — and their support clearly means the world to her.

Her family shared this heartfelt message: "We love you, Addy, and love how far you have come. Your determination is so awesome. Keep it up, kid. We love you!"

With a strong work ethic, a love for the game, and a heart full of determination, Addison Hemingway is a name to remember in youth softball. The future is bright for this young athlete!

FAITH IN SPORTS GOD’S POWER IN OUR WEAKNESS

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." – Isaiah

40:29 (NIV)

In the world of youth sports, every player knows what it feels like to be tired—physically, mentally, and even emotionally. Whether it's a long practice under the summer sun, a tough game that doesn’t go your way, or the pressure to keep improving, exhaustion is part of the journey. But Isaiah 40:29 offers encouragement that hits home for any athlete chasing their goals: God gives strength to the weary.

This verse isn't just about spiritual strength. It's a reminder that God cares about every part of your life—including what happens on the field, court, or track. When you're giving your all and feel like you have nothing left, God doesn't walk away. He steps in.

For young athletes, this means two powerful truths:

1.It's okay to be tired. Even the best athletes run out of steam. Feeling worn out doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re human. Isaiah 40:29 tells us that God sees our limits and wants to lift us up, not tear us down.

1.Strength doesn’t just come from muscles. The kind of strength Isaiah is talking about comes from within. It's the courage to keep going, the focus to stay sharp, and the heart to support your teammates. When you lean on God, you tap into a strength that doesn’t fade with fatigue or fear.

So next time you're on the field and feel like quitting, remember Isaiah 40:29. Say a prayer, take a breath, and trust that God is fueling you for more than just winning—He’s shaping your spirit. And in His eyes, playing with faith, perseverance, and heart is the greatest victory of all.
