Mangroves for Mitigation
by Jihan Lee
Climate change is an ongoing complication in many parts of the globe, and Bangladesh suffers mainly from numerous storms and cyclones that rise to bring about flash floods, putting millions of lives in peril annually. Therefore, the country has taken a distinctive directive to alleviate the issue; exploring ecosystem based methods to provide a long-term solution. And the unique characteristics of mangrove trees seems to be the most conducive in assuring the safety of its citizens. Bangladeshโs coastal regions consist of coral reefs, marshes, but most commonly mangrove trees; A major part of the worldโs largest mangrove forest, the โSundarbansโ, lies in Bangladesh.

Surprisingly, these mangroves are natural barriers protecting shores from the wind and the surges from tropical cyclones. They also prevent land erosion with their firmly planted roots, allowing for mitigated occurrence of flash floods. Therefore, the people of Bangladesh have begun to actively create movements, both socially and individually, to plant Mangrove trees along the shorelines and embankments.
The Bangladesh Resource Council of Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) has been partnering with the local people to work together in setting up this natural defense. Pavel Partha, director of BARCIK, says โAfter getting a grasp on the crisis and benefits of the mangrove as a shield, we met with the local people together to understand what they need protected. Based on their needs and estimation, we have been providing them with financial and technical support to ensure the plantation goes on.โ Coastal Bangladeshโs creative and innovative methods of using scientific and natural supporters like mangrove trees speak volumes for the countryโs bright future.

Have you ever heard about the nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic? The Czech Republic is known for its beautiful scenery and vibrant culture; however, it also has notable achievements in nuclear power. As a Central European manufacturing powerhouse, the Czech Republic has developed significant expertise in nuclear energy production.
The country operates two major nuclear power plants: Temelin and Dukovany. These facilities are key components of the nationโs energy infrastructure and contribute a substantial portion of domestic electricity. Temelin with its state-of-the-art technology and rigorous safety measures, is one of Europeโs largest and most advanced nuclear power plants. Dukovany, on the other hand, has a long-standing history of reliable operation since its commissioning in the mid-1980s.
The success of these plants can be attributed to the Czech Republicโs investment in advancing nuclear technology and fostering expertise through education and training. The nationโs commitment to maintaining high safety standards and continuously improving operational efficiency ensures that its nuclear power plants remain at the forefront of the industry.

Ecuador language and history
by Seoyong Kwak
Ecuador is a country located in South America. The official language is Spanish, but Indigenous peoples in the highlands also speak Quechua, which remains a widely recognized native language. Additionally, various Indigenous groups across the country continue to use their own ancestral languages. As a result, many Indigenous Ecuadorians are bilingual, speaking both Spanish and their native language.
One of Ecuadorโs most influential historical figures is Eugenio Espejo (1747โ1795), a writer, physician, and intellectual who played a crucial role in shaping Ecuadorโs independence movement.
As a strong advocate for Enlightenment ideas, he criticized colonial rule and inspired future generations of revolutionaries who sought Ecuadorโs liberation from Spanish control. His contributions to journalism and public health also left a lasting impact on the countryโs development.

Ecuador is also known for its strong religious traditions. The majority of Ecuadorians are Roman Catholic. According to ASE (Voluntariado para la Ayuda Social del Ecuador), approximately 80% of the population identifies as Roman Catholic, followed by 11% Protestant, 8% atheist, and the - remaining 1% adhering to other religions. This demonstrates Ecuadorโs deeply rooted Catholic heritage, with Protestantism as the next most common religious affiliation.

Development of Computing Technology in Egypt
by Soohyun Shim
Egypt, a country known for its historical heritage, is also becoming an emerging player in computing technology within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Over the past few years, Egypt has made significant strides in developing its computing infrastructure, promoting digital transformation, and fostering innovation in various computing domains. These advancements are evident in sectors like cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity, where Egypt is working to establish itself as a regional leader.
Egyptโs commitment to digital transformation is central to its economic development strategy, as outlined in its Vision 2030 plan. This vision aims to enhance the countryโs information and communication technology (ICT) sector, focusing on developing smart cities, digital governance, and a robust technological ecosystem (Vision 2030). The plan emphasizes the importance of digital transformation as a key driver of economic growth, with computing technology at its core. The governmentโs efforts to improve infrastructure, enhance internet connectivity, and develop data centers are crucial steps toward achieving these goals (Ministry of Communications and Information Technology).

One of the significant areas of growth in Egyptโs computing technology landscape is cloud computing. The adoption of cloud technology in Egypt has been accelerated by both the public and private sectors, seeking to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and provide scalable solutions. According to a report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), Egyptโs cloud computing market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.1% between 2021 and 2025 (IDC). This growth is driven by the increasing demand for cloud-based services among businesses and government institutions, enabling them to enhance their digital capabilities.
Egypt is also making notable advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). The Egyptian government launched its National AI Strategy in 2021, aiming to harness AIโs potential to drive economic growth, improve public services, and enhance scientific research (ElSherbini). This strategy involves developing AI skills, fostering research and development, and promoting AI-driven entrepreneurship. Universities and research centers across Egypt, such as Cairo University and the Nile University AI Research Center, are leading in AI research, contributing to innovations in natural language processing, machine learning, and data analytics (Youssef).
Cybersecurity is another critical aspect of Egyptโs computing technology sector. As digital transformation accelerates, the need to protect data and systems from cyber threats becomes more pressing. Egypt has been investing heavily in building cybersecurity infrastructure and developing a skilled workforce to address these challenges. The countryโs Cybersecurity Strategy 2025 outlines plans to strengthen national cybersecurity capabilities through public-private partnerships, specialized training, and awareness programs (National Telecom Regulatory Authority). This strategy is vital for safeguarding Egyptโs digital infrastructure, especially as more services and sectors go online.

Moreover, Egyptโs tech startups are playing an increasingly important role in driving computing technology innovation. Companies like Instabug, Vezeeta, and Paymob have gained international recognition for their innovative solutions in software development, health tech, and fintech, respectively. These startups have benefited from Egyptโs growing tech ecosystem, which includes incubators, accelerators, and access to venture capital (Fahmy).
The presence of tech hubs such as the Greek Campus in Cairo further provides an enabling environment for young entrepreneurs to experiment with new computing technologies and develop digital solutions tailored to local and regional needs.
Despite these advancements, challenges remain in fully realizing Egyptโs potential in computing technology. Issues such as the digital divide, limited access to high-speed internet in rural areas, and the need for continuous skill development are barriers that must be addressed. Bridging the gap between urban and rural areas regarding digital access and literacy is crucial for ensuring inclusive growth in the digital economy (Abdelrahman). In conclusion, Egyptโs progress in computing technology reflects its ambition to become a regional technology leader. Through strategic government initiatives, growing investments in cloud computing, AI, and cybersecurity, and the support of a vibrant startup ecosystem, Egypt is positioning itself to harness the potential of computing technologies for sustainable development. While challenges persist, the ongoing efforts to enhance digital infrastructure and foster innovation indicate a promising future for Egypt in the computing technology sector.

Kenyaโs Musical Heritage
by Areum Kim
Kenya is known for its diverse musical cultures, including traditional and new genres as they reach the 21st century. Each genre has different characteristics and uses different kinds of instruments to play. Each genre has a special history and elements.

Luo is one of Kenyaโs ethnic groups, also known for the instruments they use to play traditional music. Their traditional instruments are drums, rattles, horns, and Abu and Nyatiti, which are string instruments. Specifically, Abu is crafted by adding multiple gourds together. They are stuck with beeswax and tied with the bark of a โpowoโ tree. Men normally blow them at important events, such as during funerals.

Nyatiti is Kenyaโs national instrument. It is played with eight nylon strings by fingers or plectrums. The history of Nyatiti started more than 5,000 years ago, and it is related to a similar instrument, which is also known as Enanga. They also use drums called Bul, also known as bongos. This kind of instrument has donkey skin on the surface, and players can easily carry it by putting the strings over their shoulders. It is Africaโs most well-known instrument. They create a joyful and exciting atmosphere to light up the mood as they are played.

Beauty of Slovenia
by Yeeun Seo
Slovenia is home to many breathtaking natural landscapes and travel destinations that remain relatively unknown in Korea. The countryโs tourism keywords, Green Country and SโLoveโnia, reflect its pristine natural environment and romantic attractions. As Slovenia is best known for its stunning natural beauty, I would like to introduce three of the top 10 tourist destinations selected by the Slovenian Tourism Board.

Slovenia is also home to several wellpreserved caves, among which Postojna Cave stands out as one of the worldโs most famous. Spanning approximately 20 km, only a portion of the cave is open to visitors, who can explore it via a scenic train ride. Entry is only allowed through guided tours, which last around 1 to 1.5 hours. As admission is limited to specific time slots, it is recommended to book tickets in advance on the official Postojna Cave website. Additionally, Korean audio guides are available at the ticket office. Since Predjama Castle is part of the Postojna Cave Park, many travelers visit both attractions together.
Lake Bled is renowned as one of the most romantic wedding destinations in Europe. In the middle of the lake, there is a small island with a charming church, where visitors can climb 99 steps to ring the wishing bell, believed to grant wishes. This picturesque destination offers a breathtaking view of Sloveniaโs vast and unspoiled natural surroundings.
Predjama Castle is a unique fortress not situated on top of a mountain but built into the middle of a cliff. Resembling a scene from a fairytale or a movie, it is the largest cave castle in the world, with over 800 years of history, and is listed in the Guinness World Records. Located about a two-hour drive from Lake Bled, it is often visited alongside it.

The Land of Eternal Flames & Mystical Fire Worship
by Sue Park
Azerbaijanโs natural flames and ancient fire-worshiping traditions have earned it the title โLand of Fireโ (Odlar Yurdu). From burning mountains to sacred temples, fire has played a central role in the countryโs history, mythology, and even its nameโderived from the Persian word โAzarโ (fire).
Yanar Dag: The Burning Mountain
One of Azerbaijanโs most fascinating natural wonders is Yanar Dag, a hill where flames have been burning continuously for centuries. This phenomenon is caused by natural gas seeping through the earthโs surface and igniting spontaneously. The sight of bright orange flames flickering against the dark sky has amazed travelers for generations, making Yanar Dag a must-visit destination for those seeking a glimpse of Azerbaijanโs fiery identity.
Ateshgah: The Temple of Fire Worshipers
Azerbaijan was once a major center for Zoroastrianism, an ancient religion that revered fire as a sacred element. The Ateshgah Fire Temple, located near Baku, stands as a historical testament to this faith. Built in the 17th century on a site where natural gas fires had been burning for centuries, the temple was a place of pilgrimage for fire worshipers from Persia and India. Although the flames at Ateshgah are no longer naturally occurring, the temple remains a powerful symbol of Azerbaijanโs spiritual heritage.
The Symbolism of Fire in Modern Azerbaijan
Even today, fire remains a key part of Azerbaijanโs national identity. The Flame Towers, a trio of skyscrapers in Baku, are designed to resemble flames and light up the night sky in fiery hues. The symbolism extends beyond architectureโAzerbaijanโs resilience, energy, and transformation are often likened to the eternal nature of fire.
From ancient rituals to modern landmarks, fire has shaped Azerbaijanโs culture, history, and identity in ways that continue to captivate the world.

The โDigital Bangladeshโ Vision
by Jihan Lee
W ith the incentive and capacity to create a more digital world in Bangladesh, plans and programmes were set forth such as the Digital Bangladesh Program, mandated by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Its vision for 2021 was to improve service delivery using ICTs, capacity development of the whole society towards a knowledge economy, and the diversification of exports towards knowledge products. And it was immensely successful; The United Nations Development Programme revealed that in the period between 2009 and 2021, internet penetration in Bangladesh has multiplied by 100, meaning 100 times more students are able to access the internet for education, information, entertainment, and communication.

Putting the success of Vision 2021 in mind, Bangladesh implemented another vision for 2041. There are numerous procedures which could take place to further enhance Bangladeshโs digital presence, but one key requirement is the adaptation to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the trend towards automation and complex data exchange such as the Internet, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, Bangladesh must utilize the great potential within its human capital; already there are signs of Bangladeshโs leadership through donating digital knowhow and experience to less developed countries such as Yemen, South Sudan, and Cambodia. Through investing more upon our individual talents, Bangladesh will grow apparent not as a follower, but a pioneer.

Protecting Mother Earth
by Seoyun Kong
The Czech Republic is often regarded as one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Not surprisingly, this recognition is largely due to their efforts in environmental conservation. Environmental issues pose the main threats to our ecosystem, including climate change, pollution, and more. Fortunately, the Czech Republic initiated official environmental reforms in 2012.

They held briefings about key environmental challenges and outlined four main policy responses:
โข Protection and sustainable use of resources
โข Climate protection and improvement of ambient air quality
โข Protection of nature and landscape
โข Ensuring a safe environment
While implementing these policies requires significant financial resources and legislative effort, the Czech Republic prioritized without hesitation environmental improvements. The country has demonstrated a strong commitment to its goals related to water and biodiversity, resulting in the Czech Republic being recognized for its cleanliness worldwide.
Moreover, the Czech Republic has unveiled a long-term environmental plan for 2030, which includes over 10 objectives for fostering a healthy environment. With such dedication and effort, we can anticipate a brighter future ahead.

Ecuador on a Plate: A Taste of Tradition
by Claire Kim
Ecuador is a country rich in culture and tradition, and its cuisine reflects this diversity through bold flavors and unique ingredients. From the coastal regions to the highlands, Ecuadorian dishes are deeply rooted in history and local agriculture. Here are three must-try specialties that showcase the essence of Ecuadorian cuisine.
1. Encebollado de Pescado: The Heartwarming Fish Stew

A beloved Ecuadorian comfort food, encebollado de Pescado is a hearty fish stew known for its rich, slightly spicy broth. Typically made with albacore tuna, this dish is enhanced by fresh ingredients like tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and cassava root. Served hot and often enjoyed with a side of rice, plantain chips, or even popcorn, this dish is a staple in Ecuadorian households and a favorite for curing hangovers.
2.
Roasted guinea pig, or cuy asado, is one of Ecuadorโs most culturally significant dishes, especially popular in the Andean region, including Cuenca. Guinea pig has been consumed for centuries by Indigenous communities, and today, it remains a delicacy often reserved for special occasions. The dish is typically roasted whole over an open flame, seasoned with local spices, and served with potatoes and corn. While it may be an unconventional dish to some, cuy asado is a true reflection of Ecuadorโs deep-rooted culinary traditions.

A classic side dish originating from the Ecuadorian highlands, llapingachos are delicious potato patties stuffed with cheese and pan-fried to golden perfection. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, they are commonly served alongside roasted meats, fried eggs, avocado, or peanut sauce for an extra layer of flavor. Whether as a complement to a meal or enjoyed on their own, llapingachos remain a comforting and iconic dish in Ecuadorian cuisine.
These three dishes are just a small glimpse into Ecuadorโs vibrant culinary landscape. With every bite, you can taste the history, traditions, and flavors that make Ecuadorian cuisine so special.
If you ever have the chance to explore Ecuador, be sure to indulge in its diverse and flavorful dishesโyou wonโt be disappointed.

Egyptโs Boy King
by Dan Park
King Tutankhamun, commonly referred to as King Tut, was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who ruled during the 18th dynasty, around 1332โ1323 BCE. He ascended to the throne at the young age of nine or ten and is one of the most famous pharaohs in history, not because of his achievements during his reign, but due to the discovery of his nearly intact tomb in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter. King Tutโs reign was relatively short and unremarkable in terms of political or military accomplishments, but his significance lies in the wealth of artifacts and insights into ancient Egyptian culture that his tomb provided. The discovery of his burial chamber in the Valley of the Kings, filled with treasures such as golden masks, jewelry, and intricate artifacts, sparked global fascination with ancient Egypt and cemented King Tutโs legacy in popular culture.

The mystery surrounding King Tutโs life and death has also captivated historians and scientists for decades. Modern technology, including CT scans and DNA analysis, has revealed that Tutankhamun likely suffered from numerous health issues, including a club foot and malaria, which may have contributed to his early death at around 18 or 19 years old. Additionally, his lineage has been a subject of interest, as he was the son of Akhenaten, the controversial pharaoh who attempted to shift Egyptโs religious focus to the worship of the sun god Aten. Despite his brief and relatively obscure reign, King Tutโs legacy endures as a symbol of ancient Egyptโs grandeur and mystery, and his treasures continue to draw millions of visitors to museums worldwide, offering a glimpse into the opulence and complexity of one of historyโs most fascinating civilizations.

Ethiopiaโs Rich Cultural Heritage
by Emily Lee
Ethiopia, often regarded as the cradle of human civilization, is a country steeped in rich cultural heritage. With a history dating back thousands of years, it is home to one of the earliest known human ancestors, โLucy,โ and boasts a deep-rooted connection to ancient kingdoms such as Axum, known for its impressive obelisks and role in the spread of Christianity. Ethiopiaโs unique blend of cultures is reflected in its art, music, and religious practices, making it a fascinating destination for those interested in history and culture.

The countryโs festivals play a significant role in preserving and celebrating its traditions. One of the most renowned celebrations is Timkat, the Ethiopian Orthodox celebration of Epiphany, which brings together communities in colorful processions and spiritual ceremonies. The rich tradition of Ethiopian music, with its distinctive sounds, and the iconic dance forms passed down through generations further highlight the countryโs cultural diversity. Ethiopiaโs UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, also provide a glimpse into its architectural and religious heritage, standing as symbols of the nationโs devotion and artistic achievement.
In the modern era, Ethiopia continues to preserve and honor its cultural identity while embracing progress. The nation is increasingly recognized for its efforts to promote cultural tourism and educate the world about its unique history and traditions. As it continues to grow economically and politically, Ethiopia remains a beacon of cultural pride and resilience, offering a valuable window into one of the worldโs oldest civilizations.

Earthโs all-natural nuclear reactor
by Eric Lee

I n addition to its rich and diverse cultures, Gabon is home to Oklo, the worldโs only known natural nuclear reactor. The reason why this is such an amazing feat is because, without humans at all, Oklo generates heat through a selfsustaining chain reaction.
Oddly enough, when it was first discovered back in 1972, some theorized that it was the result of a crashed meteorite and even aliens. Since then, weโve learned that the reactor formed when groundwater came in contact with the countryโs uranium-rich mineral deposits.
Through nuclear fission, this phenomenon allows for the production of clean energy without reliance on fossil fuels. Based on the tests conducted, Oklo doesnโt produce greenhouse gasses, and its rectors can operate for decades without refueling. Because it is so much more powerful than coal and gas, it is a viable energy option for the future.

The Oasis of the Ivory Coast
by Lily Park
The Jardin Botanique de Bingerville, located in Bingerville, Ivory Coast, is a historic and ecological treasure that serves as a vital center for biodiversity conservation and environmental education. Established in 1904 during the French colonial era, the garden was initially created to study and cultivate tropical plants, particularly those with economic potential, such as rubber, coffee, and cocoa. Over the years, it has evolved into a lush sanctuary housing a diverse collection of native and exotic plant species, including medicinal plants, ornamental flowers, and towering trees. The gardenโs serene atmosphere and well-maintained pathways make it a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking to connect with nature and learn about the rich flora of West Africa.
In addition to its role as a botanical garden, the Jardin Botanique de Bingerville plays a crucial part in scientific research and environmental preservation. It serves as a living laboratory for botanists, ecologists, and students studying tropical ecosystems and plant biology. The garden also contributes to the conservation of endangered plant species, helping to protect Ivory Coastโs natural heritage from the threats of deforestation and climate change. Educational programs and guided tours are regularly organized to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity and sustainable practices, making the garden a hub for environmental advocacy and community engagement.
Beyond its scientific and ecological significance, the Jardin Botanique de Bingerville holds cultural and historical importance for the people of Ivory Coast. It stands as a testament to the countryโs colonial past while also symbolizing its commitment to preserving its natural resources for future generations. The gardenโs picturesque landscapes, featuring tranquil ponds, shaded groves, and vibrant flowerbeds, offer a peaceful retreat from the bustling city life. Whether for research, education, or leisure, the Jardin Botanique de Bingerville remains a cherished institution that bridges the past and present, celebrating the beauty and diversity of Ivory Coastโs natural world.

Kenyaโs Wildlife Services
by Woojin Jang
Imagine a zoo that we can normally picture. Animals are mostly caged in small areas, while humans watch them for entertainment. Animals often go through brutal training to entertain people.
On the other hand, Kenya is a heaven for any wildlife. In Kenya, animals live peacefully in zoos. Kenya is the only country where animals can freely roam in zoos. In fact, the concept of a โnational parkโ or a โsanctuaryโ is more appropriate than a zoo. Animals are not forcefully trained for peopleโs entertainment. They are free to do whatever they want. One of the most famous place in Kenya is Nairobi National Park.

Considering they are endangered animals, the zoo is working hard to protect rare species. Kenya is definitely a country where an animal lover must go. Not only can they see a range of fascinating animals, but also can appreciate the freedom animals have.
So if you love animals, or if you love visiting zoos, why not head to Kenya to experience a whole new world of wildlife?
Nairobi National Park is famous for the variety of animals they have. Animals are supplied with food and water, and the only time zookeepers check on them is when they are unwell. They also give special care to endangered ones. Nairobi National Park is trying its best to protect animals. For example, in 2019, they were able to make the Mountain Bongo reproduce and successfully preserve the species.

Slovenia: A Journey of Nature and Romance
by Yeeun Seo
As eco-friendly travel gains popularity across Europe, Slovenia is emerging as a must-visit destination. With its signature tourism themes, Green Country and SโLoveโnia, this charming country offers breathtaking natural landscapes and a romantic atmosphere. Here are some of the top places to explore.

Triglav National Park, Sloveniaโs oldest and largest national park, is nestled in the heart of the Alps. The park is home to the stunning Lake Bohinj, where visitors can take in breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. The name Triglav means โthree peaks,โ referring to Sloveniaโs highest mountain, which dominates the parkโs skyline. Unlike other famous peaks, Triglav has no train or cable car access, meaning the only way to reach its summit is by hiking. Despite this challenge, the mountainโs untouched beauty and awe-inspiring scenery continue to attract adventurers from around the world.
One of Ljubljanaโs most iconic landmarks is Dragon Bridge, where four majestic dragon statues stand guard at the entrance. With its picturesque surroundings, the bridge is a favorite spot for photography. The dragon is a significant symbol of Ljubljana, so much so that the city hosts an annual Dragon Festival to celebrate its mythical heritage. Another must-visit site is Ljubljana Castle, which sits atop a hill overlooking the city. The view from the castle reveals a charming landscape of red-roofed houses, adding to the cityโs fairytale-like appeal. In fact, Ljubljana was named Europeโs Best Destination in 2014 and even served as a filming location for the Korean drama Dear My Friends. Once a fortress and later a prison, Ljubljana Castle now houses an observation deck, a cafรฉ, and exhibition spaces, making it a popular attraction for visitors.

These fascinating geological formations are not only a breathtaking sight but also a source of scientific curiosity.
What Are Mud Volcanoes?
Unlike regular volcanoes that erupt with lava, mud volcanoes spew cold mud, water, and gases from deep underground. The pressure from natural gas beneath the Earthโs surface forces the mud to bubble up, creating small eruptions that can look like boiling pools of clay. Some of them even shoot flames when ignited by escaping methane gas!
Gobustan: The Best Place to See Mud Volcanoes
One of the best places to see these mud volcanoes is Gobustan National Park, just an hourโs drive from Baku. This area is famous not only for its mud volcanoes but also for prehistoric rock carvings, which are over 40,000 years old. These petroglyphs depict ancient humans, animals, and hunting scenes, offering a glimpse into the lives of Azerbaijanโs earliest inhabitants.
Why Are Mud Volcanoes Important?
Scientists study Azerbaijanโs mud volcanoes to learn about the Earthโs underground activity and potential energy resources. Some believe that these volcanoes hold clues about natural gas reserves and even the possibility of life on other planets, as similar formations have been found on Mars!
Azerbaijanโs mud volcanoes are not just a scientific wonderโthey are a must-visit attraction that showcases the countryโs incredible natural beauty and geological significance.

The Bengal Tiger - Pride of Bangladesh
by Jihan Lee
Bangladesh has the largest mangrove ecosystem on the globe, known as the Sundarbans. The ecosystem is one of the worldโs Natural Wonders, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Sundarbans are home to the Bengal Tiger, Bangladeshโs national animal that is a symbol for bravery and acute intelligence. The tigerโs primary prey are the Chital Deer, wild pigs, and sometimes smaller animals like Macaque Monkeys.
Additionally, unlike other tiger species who seldom attack people, Bengal tigers in the Sundarbans are known to target humans and actively work to hunt them out.
The tiger is famous for its powerful roar which can be heard from over three kilometers ahead, while female Bengal tigers are known for fierce protection for their offspring which they produce around two to four of.
Unfortunately, the Bengal tiger is almost critically endangered; there are fewer than 2,000 of them left in the wild, and human beings continue to poach the tigers for their skin and bones; the skin is used in a variety of ways like decorations, while the bones are believed to have healing effects and are highly demanded in the medicinal field around the globe.
Therefore, it is necessary for continued support for the Bengal tiger such as the Sundarbans around the globe, where there are many organizations and freelancers working to preserve the lives of these tigers. With cooperation and collaboration, the tiger will be able to live on in glory.

Festivals in Ecuador
by Seoyong Kwak
Inti Raymi is one of the largest festivals in Ecuador, held from the end of June to early July. Communities around Otavalo enjoy the festival by dancing, drinking, and eating. At this festival, the community leader wears a mask called Aya Uma, which contains two faces that symbolize day and night. Historically, people thought of Aya Uma as a mythical spirit and highly respected the spirit.

Some special things about the festival are that people eat on the floor, have special drinks and food, and have many dances during the festival. People put tablecloths on the floor and eat on the floor because they believe that they get energy from the Earthโs mother as they eat on the floor. In the festival, lots of food, including potatoes, corn, and guinea pigs, are served. People eat some special foods, such as chicha drinks made of corn. There are lots of dances in this festival in the night. The festival contains a special cleansing ritual at the waterfall, during which they get new energy from Mother Nature.

Yuca festival, a cultural gem of the Amazon in Ecuador, is celebrated between January and March. This festival, observed by villages like Zaparos and Kichwas Orientales, is a poignant tribute to the bountiful ripening of fruits. A unique tradition of the festival is the use of genipap fruit as face painting, a practice rooted in its historical use as medicine.
The Yuca festival, a cherished part of Ecuadorโs festival calendar, is celebrated from January to March. This period is marked by a series of festivals, each with its unique customs and traditions, offering a rich tapestry of cultural experiences for the people of Ecuador.

The Impact of Biomedical Technology on Healthcare Innovation in Egypt
by Soohyun Shim

Biomedical technology is transforming healthcare systems globally, and Egypt is no exception. As the nation faces growing healthcare challenges, from managing infectious diseases to addressing the rise of chronic conditions, biomedical technology offers innovative solutions that enhance patient care, diagnostics, and treatment. This essay explores the impact of biomedical technology on Egyptโs healthcare system, highlighting key areas of application and the opportunities it presents for improving health outcomes.
Egyptโs healthcare system, like those of many developing nations, grapples with various challenges. These include limited access to quality healthcare services, overcrowded public hospitals, and disparities between urban and rural healthcare facilities (Ahmed and Hamed 45). Chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, and cancer have become more prevalent due to lifestyle changes, while the country still battles infectious diseases, including hepatitis C. As a result, healthcare providers must find ways to optimize care delivery within an overburdened system.
Biomedical technology offers potential solutions to some of these challenges. One area of significant impact is medical diagnostics. Advanced imaging technologies, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT), have revolutionized how healthcare providers in Egypt diagnose and monitor diseases. These technologies provide detailed insights into patientsโ conditions, enabling more accurate and timely treatments (El-Sayed 112). Furthermore, mobile health technologies are gaining traction, especially in rural areas where access to healthcare facilities is limited. Telemedicine platforms allow patients to consult with specialists remotely, reducing the need for travel and ensuring that even those in remote regions can receive proper medical attention (Mohamed et al. 78).
Another critical area is the development and use of biomedical devices such as prosthetics and medical implants. With Egyptโs increasing incidence of chronic diseases and accidents, these devices help patients regain mobility and improve their quality of life. Local manufacturers have also started contributing to the production of cost-effective biomedical devices, reducing the countryโs reliance on imported medical equipment. This development supports both healthcare delivery and economic growth, as it fosters a burgeoning medical technology industry within Egypt (Saleh 67).
Additionally, biomedical research is increasingly shaping Egyptโs medical landscape. Researchers in Egypt are collaborating with international partners to explore innovations in areas such as tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. These efforts aim to develop treatments for conditions like organ failure and degenerative diseases, which are on the rise in Egypt due to aging populations and lifestyle changes. For instance, recent advancements in stem cell research hold promise for developing therapies for heart disease and diabetes, two prevalent conditions in the country (Fahmy 133). By investing in such research, Egypt has the opportunity to become a regional leader in biomedical innovation, contributing to both local and global advancements in healthcare.
Despite these advancements, the integration of biomedical technology in Egypt faces several obstacles. One significant challenge is the lack of infrastructure and training to support the widespread use of these technologies. Many healthcare providers are unfamiliar with the latest tools, and hospitals often lack the necessary equipment or the technical capacity to maintain it. To address these gaps, the Egyptian government has initiated partnerships with international organizations and private companies to build healthcare capacity and modernize facilities (Ahmed and Hamed 49).

In conclusion, biomedical technology holds great potential to transform Egyptโs healthcare system. From improving diagnostic capabilities to advancing biomedical research, these technologies can address many of the countryโs healthcare challenges. While significant obstacles remain, such as infrastructure limitations and training deficits, ongoing investments and collaborations can help overcome these barriers. As Egypt continues to adopt and develop biomedical technologies, it stands poised to improve patient outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and elevate the overall standard of healthcare across the nation.

African Culture Maasai Tribe
by Danielle Young Bin Choi
The Maasai are an indigenous tribe in Kenya that still adopts traditional living styles. They maintain customs distinct from those of Western civilization and modern-day practices. They are a nomadic tribe- which refers to a group of people that move from one place to another often rather than living in one place all the time. They originate from the northwest area of Kenya and also border Tanzania. However, in this current state, they have migrated to and settled around East Africa. They also have their own language- โMaaโ- spoken among the Maasai community in Eastern Africa, particularly in Southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania.

The Maasai tribe is deeply significant to the whole nation of Kenya, symbolizing a beacon of pride and a sense of deep โcommunityโ among the people. This is evident in the Kenyan flag, which consists of four colors: green, red, black, and white. The emblem of the shield in the middle is the Maasai shield with two crossed spears. The Maasai shieldโs mere presence in the nationโs flag shows the importance and impact of Maasai culture in traditional and modern Kenya.
The Maasai community is very well known for its unique customs, clothing, and traditional dancing. Their unique customs and clothing make them a distinct group of people. They wear extremely vibrant clothing, and each color has meaning behind it. For example, red and blue are the holy, sacred colors for the Maasai tribe. The red color on clothing and beads symbolizes bravery and unity, while blue represents the sky and energy. Other colors can represent purity, health, community, and more.
Different types of clothing also represent certain meanings. The Shuka is a traditional robe that is predominantly red, while beadwork is an integral and essential part of Maasai culture.
The beadwork often represents a certain personโs identity, marital status, age, and more. The beadwork is applied to many parts of clothing, like necklaces, bracelets, belts, and more.
The Esipelu, or the headgear, is usually woven with fabric, beads, and feathers of many sorts. These are worn during special ceremonies and events, adding distinctive touches to the attire.
The Eneko or the footwear are usually sandals that are carved from recycled car tires and leather that help strap and hold their feet tightly to the soles.

Last but not least, the Jorongo- usually worn during cold seasons and days, is a long, capelike garment. It is decorated with colorful beads and drapes across oneโs shoulder. These aspects of clothing and garments serve as an intricate and deep factor that honors their heritage.
Another significant part of their culture is their traditional dance, called the Adamu or Adumu. It is also considered the โhigh jumping dance.โ They all form a circle, wherein one Maasai will enter the circle and start jumping high. The reason for them jumping as high as possible is because it proves their strength and maturity. The higher the jump is, the stronger the man is. This, by all means, means more respect and desire from the other women in the tribe.
In conclusion, the Maasai are very significant to Kenyaโs culture. The Maasai are highly respected and keep true to themselves. Having been to Kenya twice and seeing them in person, I realize their deep and true impact on the community of Kenya. Not only are they immensely compassionate and kind to outsiders, but they also embrace their culture the most, which differentiates them from other communities. Their emblem is a signified tradition to their current nation and will forever be a sign of community and hope for the Kenyan country.

The Zambian Copper Belt
by Jack Lee
Zambiaโs copper industry has a rich and transformative history, deeply intertwined with economic and social development. Copper mining began in the early 1900s in the Copperbelt Province, a region rich in mineral deposits, and quickly became the cornerstone of the nationโs economy under British colonial rule. By the mid-20th century, Zambia was one of the worldโs largest copper producers, fueling industrialization and infrastructure growth. After gaining independence in 1964, the Zambian government nationalized the mining industry, creating state-owned entities like Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) to oversee production.
Zambiaโs copper industry is the backbone of its economy, earning the country its reputation as one of Africaโs leading copper producers. The Copperbelt Province, located in the northern part of Zambia, is the heart of this industry, with rich deposits of copper and cobalt that have been mined for over a century.
Copper mining in Zambia dates back to the early 1900s, and the industry grew rapidly during the mid-20th century, transforming the region into a major global supplier of metal. Today, Zambia accounts for a significant portion of the worldโs copper production, with the metal being used in everything from electrical wiring to renewable energy technologies. The mining sector not only generates substantial revenue for the country but also employs thousands of Zambians, making it a critical driver of economic growth and development.

The First Country to Recognize Natureโs Rights
by Jessica Choi

Ecuador made history in 2008 by becoming the first country in the world to recognize the rights of nature in its constitution. This bold decision changed the way environmental protection is approached, treating nature not just as a resource but as a living entity with its own legal rights. By taking this step, Ecuador has set a global example of sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Most countries focus on laws that regulate how humans can use natural resources. However, Ecuadorโs constitution goes beyond this by giving nature itself the right to exist, regenerate, and be restored. This means that individuals, communities, and even the government can take legal action on behalf of ecosystems that are harmed by pollution, deforestation, or industrial activities. Since this law was introduced, Ecuadorian courts have ruled in favor of nature in several cases, leading to stronger environmental protections. Thanks to this law, Ecuador has been able to protect several key ecosystems. In 2021, Ecuadorโs Constitutional Court ruled against mining activities in the Los Cedros Protected Forest, setting a major precedent for environmental cases. This decision not only safeguarded the regionโs rich biodiversity but also reinforced the idea that economic development must not come at the cost of environmental destruction.
Ecuadorโs commitment to protecting the environment through legal means proves that the world can rethink its relationship with nature. By recognizing that ecosystems have rights, Ecuador has paved the way for a more sustainable and ethical approach to conservation.

The Development of Egyptโs Semiconductor Technology Sector
by Soohyun Shim
Egypt, traditionally known for its historical significance, is increasingly becoming a player in the global technology landscape, particularly in semiconductor technology. Semiconductors are fundamental components in modern electronics, playing a crucial role in the functioning of various digital devices. With the global semiconductor market projected to reach $1 trillion by 2030, Egypt recognizes the potential economic and technological benefits of developing its local semiconductor capabilities (Frost & Sullivan).
Currently, Egyptโs semiconductor industry is focused primarily on design rather than manufacturing. Companies like Si-Ware Systems, based in Cairo, have made significant strides in this field, particularly in developing MicroElectro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS). Si-Ware Systemsโ launch of NeoSpectra, the worldโs smallest Fourier-Transform InfraRed (FT-IR) spectrometer-on-chip, has been a notable achievement, showcasing Egyptโs ability to innovate in hightech sectors (Si-Ware Systems).

Universities in Egypt, such as Cairo University and Ain Shams University, are critical to the growth of this industry by offering specialized programs in semiconductor design. This academic support is essential for building a skilled workforce that can meet industry demands and attract foreign investment (Youssef and Hassan). However, the country faces several challenges, including the lack of local semiconductor fabrication facilities. Currently, Egypt relies heavily on importing semiconductor components, which poses risks to its technological autonomy (El-Haddad).
The semiconductor sector also requires massive investments, with the cost of establishing a fabrication plant reaching billions of dollars. This financial challenge is compounded by a lack of substantial government and private sector funding, which has slowed the industryโs growth (Khalil). Recognizing these issues, the Egyptian government has initiated efforts to promote technological development, including in the semiconductor field. The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has been pivotal in attracting foreign partnerships and investments to strengthen the local tech ecosystem (ITIDA).
As part of Egyptโs Vision 2030, there are plans to bolster digital infrastructure, foster innovation, and create a competitive semiconductor industry. By encouraging collaborations between local startups and international technology leaders, Egypt aims to build a robust semiconductor ecosystem (Vision 2030). Though the path forward presents challenges, the combination of academic support, private innovation, and government initiatives suggests that Egypt has the potential to emerge as a regional hub for semiconductor technology.

Ethiopiaโs Coffee Tradition
by Claire Han

Ethiopia is renowned as the birthplace of coffee, and its coffee culture is deeply woven into the fabric of the countryโs history and daily life. Coffee is not just a drink in Ethiopiaโ it is a cultural experience that brings people together, creating a sense of community and tradition. The coffee ceremony, a central aspect of Ethiopian culture, is an elaborate and meaningful ritual that is often performed in homes and villages. This ceremony involves roasting green coffee beans over an open flame, grinding them by hand, and brewing the coffee in a traditional pot called a jebena. Itโs a slow and deliberate process, symbolizing respect for both the coffee and the people involved.
Ethiopiaโs coffee-growing regions, such as Sidamo, Yirgacheffe, and Harrar, are famous for producing some of the worldโs finest coffee beans, each with unique flavors and profiles. The countryโs diverse climates and high altitudes contribute to the distinct taste of Ethiopian coffee, which is known for its complex flavors, ranging from fruity and floral to earthy and spicy. Coffee from Ethiopia is often considered the gold standard in the coffee world, and the countryโs beans are highly sought after by connoisseurs around the globe.
In recent years, Ethiopiaโs coffee industry has gained increasing attention, not only for its exceptional quality but also for its significance in global trade and its impact on the countryโs economy. As coffee remains one of Ethiopiaโs largest exports, it plays a crucial role in sustaining rural livelihoods and supporting local communities. The global demand for Ethiopian coffee continues to grow, further elevating the countryโs reputation as the epicenter of coffee culture, where tradition, flavor, and history blend in every cup.

The Home of the Elephant
by Stella Son
Gabon is home to one of the largest populations of forest elephants in Africa, making it a critical stronghold for this endangered species. Unlike their savanna counterparts, forest elephants are smaller, with straighter tusks and a more elusive nature, and they are adapted to life in the dense rainforests of Central Africa.

Gabonโs vast and relatively untouched rainforests, particularly within its 13 national parks, provide an ideal habitat for these elephants. The country is estimated to host over half of Africaโs remaining forest elephants, with the Minkรฉbรฉ National Park and other protected areas serving as key sanctuaries.

References:
Despite their ecological importance, Gabonโs elephants face significant threats, primarily from poaching and habitat loss. The high demand for ivory has driven illegal hunting, even in remote areas, putting immense pressure on elephant populations.
In response, Gabon has taken strong conservation measures, including strict anti-poaching laws, increased park patrols, and international collaborations to combat wildlife trafficking.

Semana Santa in Antigua Guatemala
by Adrian Yang

Antigua Guatemalaโs Semana Santa (Holy Week) is one of the worldโs most spectacular celebrations of faith and culture. This UNESCO World Heritage city comes alive with solemn processions, intricate carpets, and a unique blend of Catholic and indigenous traditions.
At the heart of Semana Santa are the dramatic processions featuring andas, massive floats adorned with statues of Christ and the Virgin Mary. Carried by participants in purple robes, these floats weave through Antiguaโs cobblestone streets, accompanied by somber music, creating a deeply moving atmosphere.
The eventโs highlight is the creation of alfombrasโcolorful carpets made of sawdust, flowers, and other materials. These intricate designs, often depicting religious and cultural motifs, line the streets and are trampled as processions pass. Their fleeting beauty symbolizes the impermanence of life.
Semana Santa reflects Guatemalaโs rich history, blending Spanish Catholic traditions with indigenous artistry. Beyond its religious roots, it is a time for family, community, and celebration. Visitors can enjoy the breathtaking visuals, join in the festivities, and savor local treats like rellenos and molletes.
Semana Santa in Antigua Guatemala is more than a festival; itโs a cultural treasure that showcases the countryโs devotion and creativity. For anyone visiting during Holy Week, itโs a must-see event that captures the heart of Guatemala.

A Journey Through Kenyaโs Stunning Landscapes
by Woojin Jang
In Kenya, there are a lot of beautiful places to visit, but here are specific recommendations, especially for nature lovers.

Moreover, you can enjoy hiking with wonderful wildlife for each step you take. This is something you canโt do anywhere else! Kenya is truly a land of animals. We cannot discuss Kenya without its beautiful landscapes and sceneries. Hellโs Gate National Park is one of the top places to visit in that context. The name sounds pretty scary. It earned its name due to its narrow breaks in the cliffs.
If you go there, it will be more of a heaven than a hell. You would see people running around with the biggest smiles on their faces. Hellโs Gate National Park is a place where you can do pretty much everything like cycling, running, watching animals, and so many more.
Youโll also notice the place looks exactly the same as the background of Lion King. This is because the main setting of the film is heavily modeled after this park. Therefore, this park would be a perfect place for animal lovers who enjoy dynamic activities.

Kenya truly is a country for everyone! The country is full of wildlife and a range of activities to do. If you ever visit Kenya, do not forget to visit any of the four places I mentioned above: Diani Beach, Mount Kenya, Hellโs Gate National Park, and Lake Nakuru.
One of them is Diani Beach. Diani Beach is a wonderful place for travelers who admire nature. The beach is full of rare sea animals like whale sharks which are hard to see in other places besides Kenya. Moreover, there are various wild animals around the beach such as monkeys, giraffes, and more.
Now focusing mainly on land, there is Mount Kenya. Mount Kenya is a mountain that is full of life. There are tons of different species of animals like buffalo, elephants, white colobus, Sykes monkeys, white-tailed mongoose, suni, and more.

If you want to visit a place that is perfect for taking pictures in Kenya, I recommend Lake Nakuru. It is a gorgeous place with glittering water. You can also see animals visiting to drink water. Animals add color to the lake, which will make your photos extra special. Therefore, it is a perfect place to go if you like taking pictures.

Kaufe National Park
by Jack Lee
Kafue National Park, located in western Zambia, is one of the largest and oldest national parks in Africa, covering an expansive area of approximately 22,400 square kilometers. Established in 1950, the park is named after the Kafue River, which flows through its heart, providing a vital water source for the diverse wildlife that inhabits the region. The parkโs landscape varies, ranging from dense forests and open savannas to wetlands and riverine ecosystems. This diversity supports many animals, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the rare African wild dog. Bird enthusiasts are also drawn to Kafue, home to over 500 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatching.

The Surgeons of the Czech Republic
by Minsol Song

Many individuals undergo surgery at least once in their lifetime. The surgery does not end with the operation; it requires a rehabilitation process. This is an essential stage in the treatment because it supports the patientsโ full recovery.
However, the current rehabilitation procedure does not lead all the patients to full recovery. โAbout 40% to 60% of the patients often return to rehabilitation due to the high probability of relapse of their diseasesโ (TPof). More than half of the patients are going back to rehabilitation due to the relapse of the disease.
The Czech Republic has developed a better treatment method as a solution. Relapses are usually caused by weak cell repair. The research focused on protein, the key cell repair factor. They discovered that normal proteins from the patients had too short a lifespan to support complete recovery.
The Czech Republic has conducted research into the following problem: the protein engineering project FGFSTAB. The EU Research Result states that FGFSTAB is about โEnantisโ knowledge and expertise on protein engineering and the commercial applications of stable fibroblast growth factorsโ (SRO).
The concept of the FGFSTAB project is to save the protein in varied conditions after the surgery. The strengthened protein from this project will enhance the patientโs health. The project from the Czech Republic is in progress and will soon come up with a better contribution to the world.
Despite the challenges in their research, the Czech Republic has demonstrated remarkable progress in advanced research. Not only focusing on their research, but the Czech Republic also has a high potential for making this project their best advancement in the science field.

Ecuadorโs Efforts in Sustainable Agriculture
by Jessica Choi
Ecuador is leading the way in sustainable agriculture, focusing on farming practices that protect the environment while supporting local communities. The country is known for its organic produce, such as bananas, cacao, and coffee, which are grown using eco-friendly methods. Organic farming helps preserve soil health, prevent water contamination, and reduce the use of harmful chemicals, benefiting both the environment and human health.

One of the innovative practices gaining traction in Ecuador is agroforestry, where trees are integrated into farming systems. This approach helps prevent soil erosion, supports biodiversity, and captures carbon to mitigate climate change. Many Ecuadorian farmers are adopting agroforestry techniques to balance agricultural productivity with environmental conservation, ensuring sustainable land use for the future.
Small-scale farmers play a vital role in Ecuadorโs agricultural sustainability, using traditional farming methods passed down through generations. With support from the government and NGOs, these farmers are learning new techniques to improve their practices and access international markets. While challenges like deforestation remain, Ecuadorโs commitment to sustainable agriculture serves as a model for other countries looking to create a greener and more sustainable future.

Natures Architects
by Jack Lee

While some spend their entire lives trying to construct something that will turn heads, the humble Zambian termite has managed to do it in five. The hills are a distinctive and fascinating feature of the Zambian landscape scattered across the countryโs savannas, woodlands, and rural areas. These mounds, built by colonies of termites, can reach impressive heights, sometimes towering several meters above the ground.
Constructed from soil, saliva, and termite excrement, the mounds are incredibly durable and can withstand harsh weather, including heavy rains and intense heat. The intricate design of termite hills is a testament to the remarkable engineering skills of these tiny insects, who work collectively to create structures that regulate temperature, humidity, and ventilation for their colonies.
In Zambia, termite hills are not only a natural wonder but also play a significant role in the ecosystem. They contribute to soil aeration and nutrient cycling, enhancing the fertility of the surrounding land. This makes areas near termite mounds particularly favorable for plant growth, supporting local wildlife.
Additionally, the mounds often serve as habitats for other creatures, such as reptiles, small mammals, and insects, creating micro-ecosystems within the broader environment. For farmers, termite hills can be both a blessing and a challenge; while they improve soil quality, they can also interfere with agricultural activities if they appear in cultivated fields.
Culturally, termite hills hold a special place in Zambian traditions and folklore. In some communities, they are believed to be spiritual sites or symbols of resilience and unity, reflecting the collective effort of the termites. The mounds are also sometimes used as landmarks or meeting points in rural areas. Despite their ecological and cultural significance, termite hills are often underappreciated by those unfamiliar with their importance.

Czechiaโs Biotech Breakthroughs
by Minsol Song

Today, Czechiaโs biotechnology sector is vibrant and rapidly growing through engaging in various fields including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and agricultural biotechnology.
So, in this article, I will delve into the details of the countryโs biotechnology advancements. In the Czech Republic, there are two major institutions: BIOCEV and the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry(IOCB Prague). BIOCEV (Biotechnology and Biomedicine Center of the Academy of Sciences and Charles University in Vestec) is a major hub for biotechnology research in Czechia.
Specifically, there is a technology called Tenofovir and Cidofovir, which is an Antiviral Drugs: These antiviral drugs were developed with significant contributions from Czech scientists at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB Prague). Tenofovir is widely used in the treatment of HIV and hepatitis B. while Cidofovir is used to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections. Also, Czech companies and research institutions have developed advanced PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) diagnostic kits for detecting a wide range of pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, and genetic mutations. These kits are crucial for rapid and accurate diagnosis in medical laboratories. Through these efforts and innovations, Czechia continues to drive significant advancements in biotechnology, contributing as a global player in this rapidly evolving field.

Discovering
Laos: A Profound Experience at the Embassy in Seoul - Danielle Young Bin Choi
Hello, my name is Danielle, and I recently had the privilege of visiting the Embassy of Laos in Seoul, South Korea. It was an eye-opening and transformative experience that deepened my understanding of identity, culture, and global connections.
Before my visit, I knew little about Laos, a landlocked country in Asia. Nervous yet eager to learn, I prepared questions for the ambassador, unsure of what to expect. However, as soon as I entered the embassy, I was met with warmth and hospitality an immediate reflection of Laotian culture. The elegant display of traditional artifacts in the glass cabinet spoke volumes about Laosโs rich history and identity.
The most impactful moment was meeting the ambassador, whose dedication to strengthening Laosโs diplomatic presence was both inspiring and humbling. His insights on cross-cultural communication highlighted the importance of global cooperation. Initially, I had prepared specific questions, but as he spoke, I found myself deeply engaged, generating new questions out of sheer curiosity.
Through his stories, I gained a newfound appreciation for Laos its resilience, history, and the perseverance required to promote its global standing. Learning about the diplomatic ties between Korea and Laos, particularly in trade and agriculture, reinforced my belief in the power of international collaboration.
When I left the embassy, I carried with me a deep respect for Laos and its people. This experience not only expanded my worldview but also strengthened my desire to support Laos in any way I can. More than just a visit, it was an enlightening journey one that I will always cherish.
A heartfelt thank you to HOBY Korea for this opportunity and to the Laos embassy for their gracious hospitality. Laos may be a small country, but it has a big heart, and I am grateful to have witnessed its beauty firsthand.

As an avid sports fan, my impression of Slovenia was simple: Luka Donฤiฤ, Anลพe Kopitar, Jan Oblak. Although these athletes were familiar to me, their country was not. I saw the opportunity to visit the Embassy of Slovenia as a chance to learn more about some of my favorite athleteโs home country.
H.E. Jernej Mรผller, Ambassador welcomed us with a bright smile. The ambassador had a smile on his face all the time, and his humorous jokes made me feel comfortable even before starting. The ambassador prepared a presentation on Slovenia which gave me general information on the country. One of the first things that came up to me was their slogan: I Feel SLovenia. As the slogan suggested, I quickly learned that Slovenia was a country full of love: love for the people, love for the environment, and love for the country.
One of the biggest things the ambassador felt the most proud of was their sustainable goals. Their capital Ljubljana was named the European Green Capital by the European Commission in 2016. As the title suggests, the roof of the embassy has a bee-keeping hive on the roof of the embassy. Although itโs hard to imagine a beehive on the roof of a building in the middle of Seoul, the embassy has been working hard with the city government to pass policies to make beehives on every building in Seoul. The ambassadorโs passion for sustainability and dedication reflects the values of the Slovenians and the significance of the environment to the people of Slovenia.
After the presentation, we had a discussion session where we were able to ask questions to the ambassador. The discussion was rich, covering a variety of topics including economic development, potential partnerships between South Korea, and what South Korea can learn from Slovenia. A key part of our discussion was what the South Korean government can do to move towards a more sustainable future. Different opinions and ideas were shot, but at the end of the day, we all agreed that education and the social norm are the most significant factors.

Slovenia implements education on sustainable development in their education curriculums. To give an example, economics class will ultimately touch on sustainable economic development and science class will touch on what scientific development can further help the environment.
I feel like this is the part where not the Korean education system but education systems around the world can follow to open up windows for a greener future. Visiting the Slovenian Embassy gave me a whole new perspective on sustainability and the vision other countries have in order to reach a more sustainable future.
A Memorable Visit to the Slovenian Embassy - Seoyun Kong

It was in the middle of the summer when I visited the Embassy of Slovenia. With great excitement, I met with the people around there. At the very beginning, it seemed to be awkward to meet each other for the first time. However, as time went on, we made up with tons of questions to each other. The most interesting thing that I learned was that all of my peers were very eager to learn about sports, especially soccer and basketball, in Slovenia. To be honest, I was not a big fan of sports. Thus, I was not able to synchronize with their eagerness. However, after hearing how amazing Slovenian athletes were, I even watched a sports game when I returned home.
Furthermore, there was a surprising thing right upon the Embassy of Slovenia. As far as I knew, Slovenia had the most beautiful natural environment in the world. Turns out, I learned that it was not only for nature but for the people, too. To be specific, I was able to see the clearness and kindness in their attitude and explanation of my question. Their kindness and behavior were the most impressive. I realized that there was a beehive right upon my head. I mean for the rooftop.
The ambassador told us how Slovenia was seriously thinking about their nature, especially for their bees. He explained bees are the key determinant of their nature, and respecting and keeping them for contemporary societyโs pollution is important. As a student who wants to major in environmental science, it was the best experience I have ever had in my life. Slovenia was a country of green, eagerness, and enthusiasm for nature, and it made me feel so overwhelmed. I should definitely search out more about Slovenia cause I seriously want to live in this country.

A Green Mindset: My Experience at the Slovenian Embassy - Sienna Park
My experience at the Slovenian Embassy was unlike any other different from my visits to the embassies of Bangladesh, Laos, or the USA. As I walked down the modern hallway, I was immediately struck by a presentation on a giant screen green everywhere. A green presentation, green pamphlets, and, most importantly, a green mindset among the people.
The biggest takeaway from this visit was precisely that the green mindset. When I asked the kind ambassador, โWhat is your tip for countries to stay green?โ, he responded, โOur mindsets are green, not just our governments being forced to be green. โ
And it was profoundly true! Governments change every four or five years, but people donโt. It is the belief that โI must protect my home, I must protect the bees in my backyard, I should protect that river I see โ that keeps Slovenia one of the greenest countries in the world.
As a future leader and aspiring diplomat, this lesson resonated deeply with me. Or perhaps, I should say I learned this lesson as a student ambassador because inspiring a change in peopleโs mindsets is exactly what I aim to do.
