WORLD CUP FEVER
THE LIONESSES ROARDOWN UNDER
World Cup Fever arrives at YVYC
Report By: Luke Wall
Before the competition started we did a football sweep. We had to do two because everyone wanted a team. The world cup was held in Australia so we couldn’t see all the matches. We followed the lionesses from the beginning all the way to the final. We started watching the Nigeria game together and it was really exciting it went to penalties. The Columbia game was tricky but we managed a 2-1 win. Next up was the semi-final against our sporting rivals Australia. We put the telly on in the hall on a big screen, it was Wednesday so there were lots of us in. Some of us wore England shirts and waved flags. We had a call from Caroline’s sister all the way from Australia she couldn’t hear her because we were all cheering so loud , the atmosphere was electric.
When the final whistle blew we had won 3-1. It was a brilliant game dead exciting, cracking goals and boss team work. We were all really happy.
The final was on Sunday against Spain. Spain took the lead and England had to work hard to get back in the game. We gave away a silly penalty but our goalkeeper Mary Earps made a cracking save and caught the ball. We were still in with a good chance. Time ticked away but we could not find the goal we needed. Whistle blew and Spain were crowned world cup champions 2023.
It was a cracking tournament and we are all really proud of the Lionesses. Shane and Elaine won the sweep.

101 Dalmations
This Month we read 101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith.
The story is about a family of dalmatians who get kidnapped by Cruella de Vil who has a horrible plan to skin them and turn them into fur coats. The puppies escape disguise themselves with soot and start the long journey from Suffolk to London with the help of the colonel a sheepdog a Staffordshire and a cat called Lieutenant Tibs. We also watched the film which is different in many ways in the book we meet Cruella’s husband who is a furrier and makes fur coats out of animal skins but for some reason he is not in the film which is bizarre as he plays. We are evenly split between liking the book or the film we all enjoyed the book but half of us preferred the film. It was a very long book 276 pages our favourite parts of the story were.

I like the bit with Cruella De Vil driving Matthew
I like the bit where they get kidnapped
I like all the bits with Cruella Katie
Ellie
My favourite bit is where it all starts with a twilght bark David
We wouldn’t recommend it to younger children to read alone as there are some quite tricky words. It was very highly enjoyable and was also funny. We give it 5 stars out of 5.
Same we all like the twilight bark
I like that it has a happy ending

LOOK AFTER YOURSELF
We had a group chat with Ann, Lilac, Chloe, Andrew, Katie, John, Sophie & Sean about the importance of looking after yourself physically and mentally.
We concluded that it helps to look after yourself mentally by doing physical or mental stimulation which both take your mind off your anxiety.
Lilachas createda positivity wallatthe centre
We used the metaphor that we are like a car. You have to put the right fuel into your car , for us that means eating a balanced diet. We have to recharge which means getting enough sleep. Sleep is so important as your body repairs whilst resting. You wouldn’t drive around in a car with broken parts so look after yourself and your mental health and take time to heal injuries.
Why is it important to look after yourself?
To keep yourself healthy not just your body but your mind so both work in sync.
It is important to eat healthy foods because it’s fuelling our bodies giving our bodies the correct nutrients our body and mind need to Work at its Best!!!
Whatdoyou dotomanage yourmental health?

Ann
Why is it important to look after your personal hygiene?
Because bacteria can form and then smells, so it is important to keep them at bay as it can cause sickness so can affect your place of work.
What can we do to manage our mental health? You should talk to someone you trust otherwise your problem seems to grow. Take time out.
