Why would I share my story with you, the reader? That is easy, I am your biggest fan! Even though we have never met, I want you to live a fulfilled life, a life that you are proud to have lived. A life that leaves a legacy for others to follow your example. What are your dreams? What is your vision of success? What makes you really happy, when no one is around and when the whole world is looking at you…what makes you really happy? If you have never experienced this contentment in being who you are, in saying, yes, I am happy then I ask you, what is stopping you?
I was 9 years old when I found that real joy that burst through, that kept me smiling for years, that lets me sing, and dance when no one else can hear the music Look for the good, no matter the situation, because that is how you get through it But it wasn't given to me, I had to search for it. Even when I found it, I had to learn to wait for the right moment, and then Yippee! When it arrived, I felt it inside of me like nothing I had ever felt before I knew it was real
You might be thinking, Oh, you're one of those Oblivious to reality and don't take anything seriously I am quite the opposite actually I choose to see reality but find a joyful way to deal with it. You see, I thought that because so many told me to never change, to keep being me, but yet I was excluded from so much because I didn't give in to the hate, the anger, the depression, that I was missing out. I often was ridiculed because I wanted to be happy instead of unhappy. So, one dark day I decided to be like everyone else. Enter the toxic relationships, the self-doubt, the pain. Why would anyone willingly choose this? I did "get out" of all of that, but so many years where I could have chosen joy were swiftly behind me I made a choice again, no more So, what if you don't understand why I am happy all the time: Let me tell you about it so you can feel real joy too
Then not that long ago, I was once accused of burying my head in the sand because I didn't get irate and livid about a certain injustice and let it consume my days, my thoughts, and my life. My quick reply, I don't have to let it consume me to want to do something about it. I prefer to live a life worth living, instead of a life in anger and hate.
We choose to be unhappy or in the mess we are in. No wait, really, even I was once in a mess and said I didn’t choose this! Perhaps not, but the choices I made let me walk right into it. So, I had to make choices to walk right out of it It isn’t easy; however, it is so worth the walk
Start with one thing What is one thing that you would like to change, or eliminate in your life that is making you unhappy? Not the whole Titanic, but just one part. Maybe you can start by waking up and immediately saying, Hooray, I get another day! Be happy for this one day.
Perhaps you can say, I am not going to say mean things to me in my head, or out loud to myself. Capture those mean thoughts or words and replace them with words you would want people to say to you. You get to make the choice of how you act or react to something or someone, even to yourself
You have great value in you because no one before you, or after you, has had to make the choices you have had to make or acted or reacted to the choices others have made that directly affected you. That is your value. That is where your worth comes from, not what someone thinks of you, your job, or your family, it comes from you. That value and worth are what makes you enough exactly the way you are. Yes, we can all improve ourselves and it is good to do so, but you are enough. This is why you matter You have already outlived all of that which is in your past
Be kind to you.
