WHATEVER THE WEATHER

Cast your minds back to the 90s with Alanis Morrisette bemoaning “rain on your wedding day.” Yet despite what the songstress says, far from being ironic - or at least pretty unfortunate - rain on your wedding day is not the catastrophe you might believe. In fact, it’s actually considered good luck. The sceptics among us might think that was just something invented to calm down anxious couples but according to Hindu tradition if you “tie the knot” on a rainy day your marriage will last in the same way it’s hard to unravel a wet knot. Now isn’t that a sentiment worth remembering when rain (or snow) clouds threaten your wedding day?

And inclement weather doesn’t just signify good luck. It makes for some pretty awesome photos too. Don’t believe us? “This image was taken at about 8pm, just before the first dance. It had been howling wind, rain and snow (not the nice fluffy kind, the wet soggy kind) all day, and sadly, going out for photos was proving very difficult. However, later on, the wind calmed down and I went to get something out of my car and noticed these cool warm floodlights on an old warehouse at the back of the car park. I realised if I put my camera low to the ground, the lights from the warehouse reflecting off the wet ground created this cool fiery effect. All I had to do was ask my amazing couple Laura and Dan to stand in the middle and get something cool and unique for them. “Kate and Campbell decided to postpone their big wedding celebration like many couples due to the pandemic. However, they couldn’t wait to be husband and wife so decided to elope, just the two of them in Skye. On the way to their chosen spot for the ceremony, it was absolutely tipping it down!
