Food for the summer Now that school has ended for the summer, thousands of children in Sarasota and DeSoto counties run the risk of not receiving the food they usually enjoy from school meals and food pantries. All Faiths Food Bank has returned to meet that need and started its annual Campaign Against Summer Hunger to provide groceries, hot meals and snack bags to children 18 and under while school is out. Hot meals and groceries are provided at various schools, community centers and boys and girls clubs through July. Snack bags can be picked up at local libraries. Donate today at AllFaithsFoodBank.org.

Rainbow lights for Pride June marks Pride Month, and the LGBTQ events and programs are well underway in Sarasota. The city of Sarasota joined in on the support with a lighting of the John Ringling Causeway Bridge for the first week of June. The bridge sported an array of multicolored lights on each pillar across the Ringling Bay starting at sunset from June 1-7. Project Pride SRQ has a number of events planned for June, including a car parade Saturday, June 11.
