ALido Shores home with a unique look from the past featuring postmodern design cues throughout is now on the market for $10 million.

The property at 150 Morningside Drive, which overlooks Pansy Bayou west of John Ringling Parkway, is listed by Lisa Rooks Morris and Amy Drake of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s downtown office.

Completed in 2001, the pastelcolored home evokes designs of the 1960s, when architects turned their backs on the formality and lack of originality in contemporary buildings.

It was designed and built by Don Chapell — a follower of the Sarasota school of architecture — as his personal residence, but he died in 1999 before it was complete. His widow oversaw completion of the work.

In a prepared statement, Morris and Drake said, “As one of Florida’s most architecturally significant homes, this exceptional residential offering presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Its versatile living areas, natural setting and enviable location will appeal to the discerning buyer seeking an extraordinary design paired with a luxurious Sarasota lifestyle.”

The home features six bedrooms, six full baths and two half-baths and covers 6,800 square feet.

The main living area features 17-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the waters of Pansy Bayou and the coastal landscape surrounding it.

A lap pool and large deck highlight the outdoor spaces.
