Susie Chinn poses with the Bazaar’s Christmas tree.
Christmas comes early The sweltering heat in Sarasota didn’t stop the flavor of winter from appearing at The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime. The Christmas in July event offered special deals and offerings from vendors from July 9-11, as well as raffle entries for every $10 guests spent. The indoor indie marketplace set out a Christmas tree at its front door, but instead of green, the tree was orange and wrapped with a green garland to match the colors of the Bazaar’s branding.

Executive Director Alisa Mitchell is credited by the Library Foundation for Sarasota County with leading the group to record-breaking successes in fundraising after she began her role in March 2020. Now, after over six years, she is stepping down Sept. 1. “Serving this organization has been one of the great privileges of my career, and I’m grateful for the trust placed in me to lead this work,’’ Mitchell said in a prepared statement. “Together with our dedicated board members, donors, staff and library partners, we’ve built a successful and sustainable organization that champions Sarasota County’s incredible public library system. As I look ahead to my next chapter, I do so with deep confidence in the strength, leadership and momentum of this organization.” The Board of Directors has begun the process of identifying the next executive director and is accepting applications through Aug. 3.
