Youth Fishing Tournament

Cast those lines, and reel in the fish! Youth ages 5 to 15 can test their fishing skills and compete for prizes during Lakewood Ranch’s annual Youth Fishing Tournament 9 a.m. to noon at Lake Uihlein, behind Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. Don’t forget to bring your rod, reel, chair and sunscreen. Bait will be supplied, but participants can bring their own.

Come dressed fit for the king and queen — or as the king and queen — for this Tropical Nights Goes Hollywood fundraiser benefiting Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee. The Sarasota Orchestra continues its free outdoor concert series. The Sarasota Brass Quintet will perform an hour of favorites at the Nathan Benderson Park pavilion, 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, Sarasota. Bring a chair or blanket. The concert is free, but registration is required.

The Korn Ferry Tour’s LECOM Suncoast Classic offers golf fans an opportunity to see future PGA Tour stars. Enjoy Lakewood National Golf Club’s views and watch some of the world’s best golfers compete for a first-place payoff of more than $100,000. Activities, food trucks and vendors will be on site throughout the weekend. Volunteer opportunities will be available, and ticket information is TBA.

Dine and drink rum in a libation lounge after this SUP and Run 5K event benefiting veterans group Operation Second Chance. Admission for the 5K run or walk, the 5K standup paddleboard race or the combination is $40; veterans receive half off admission. Paddleboards are available for a $50 rental fee. Each year, thousands of spectators line the street along Main Street at Lakewood Ranch to honor local veterans, active duty and fallen heroes. Floats, marching bands, ponies and a patriotic bicycle-decorating contest will be part of the parade festivities. Residents are encouraged to decorate their strollers, bikes and golf carts. Proceeds benefit VFW Post 12055. Details to come.
