Happy 90th, Gloria! For St. Armands Circle shoppers, and specifically devotees of the Olivia Boutique, a familiar face hit a big milestone over the weekend. Gloria Kaplan, who worked as an employee and manager at the clothing store for 20 years, turned 90 on July 30. Kaplan worked at the store with owners Ulf and Annika Sandstrom, who are originally from Sweden. It was Kaplan, the Sandstroms say, who taught them how to sell to American customers. “She’s the reason we’re still here,” Ulf Sandstrom said. Kaplan, who said she feels the same as she did being 89, said the Sandstroms are what made her time at Olivia great. “The kids, Ulf and Annika,” she said. “We had the best time.” The group celebrated Kaplan’s birthday with cake at the store.
