Boat owners cautioned to keep watch Boat owners in the Spanish Main area are urging neighbors to keep an eye out for thieves. Longboater Kristen Laviolette took to social media after she said someone stole two navigation screens from her vessel, likely between the evening of June 17 and the morning of June 19. She said nothing else seemed to be missing. She said she wanted to make the community aware of the possible theft and encourage people to keep watch, especially in the evenings. Those seeking a police response can call 941-316-1201. Call 911 in an emergency. “We just want you to be aware as a community and look out for each other, our beautiful marinas, canals and our homes,” she wrote.
