Get ready for hurricane season Now is the time to get ahead of stormwater flooding and fill up your sandbags. Staff from the Longboat Key Public Works Department will be at Broadway Beach access on June 4 to help Longboat Key residents fill bags. They will be on-site from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at 100 Broadway St. Residents are limited to 10 sandbags, and the department encourages people to bring their own containers and bags when possible. Additional dates are July 2, Aug. 6 and Sept. 3. Visit LongboatKey.org.

SAKLC brings back summer music fest Music lovers have a new season of summer concerts to look forward to at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church. The Midsummer Night Music Festival series returns next month, and tickets are now available. Performance dates include July 21, July 27, Aug. 6, Aug. 26 and Sept. 16 at 40 N. Adams Drive. Featured performers include the Classern Quartet, organist Adam Aceto, Strings Con Brio with Michael Bodnyk, the Sarasota Piano trio and soprano Michelle Giglio. Frank Borelli, who started crafting his high-quality leather handbags in 1972 in New York City, brought his talents to St. Armands Circle for last weekend’s fine arts festival. He started Borelli Bags with his wife, Pam, and he now enjoys connecting with shoppers on the art festival circuit.
