Rusty Chinnis won two awards from the Florida Outdoor Writers Association.
Conservation sensation The Sarasota Bay Watch and Rusty Chinnis are making waves in the writing world. At this year’s Florida Outdoor Writers Association awards ceremony, the environmental group was awarded The Biff Lampton Memorial Conservation Award for its outstanding conservation efforts. Rusty Chinnis was awarded in two categories. Chinnis won a second place award for a magazine feature that was more than 1,200 words about Anna Maria Island and other local waters including Longboat Key, entitled “Anna Maria Island, Heart of the Suncoast.” He also won first place for his photo “Eye to Eye,” which was of a tarpon.
