Waitlist no more When part-time Longboater and high school senior Alex Siegal was pushed to the waiting list for admission to Columbia University, he was bummed to say the least. The first green sea turtle nest popped up May 30 on Longboat Key. It’s believed to be the first green sea turtle nest on the 36 miles monitored by Mote Marine Laboratory. Cyndi Seamon, vice president of the Longboat Key Turtle Watch, said although rare, they think there will be more green sea turtle nests this year than last year.
