Bringing Old-School Care to

Cardiologist to Holistic Healer:

As a young boy growing up in a small Virginia town, Christopher Davis spent weeks in the hospital after his appendix ruptured. “I was very sick,” he recalls. “But I never forgot the doctors who saved my life.” That experience inspired the seven-year-old to become a doctor.

Years later, after completing his cardiology training, Dr. Davis followed another aspiration: moving to Florida. He built a successful cardiology practice on the Gulf Coast and helped many patients. But over time, something just didn’t feel right.

“I realized I wasn’t truly helping people heal, I was just managing symptoms,” he says. “I’d fix arteries, place stents, but it was a revolving door.” Then he had an epiphany: genuine health can only be achieved by addressing all

aspects of a person, not just the immediate problem.

Once that became clear, he moved forward. He immersed himself in learning, and reshaped his practice to focus on functional medicine, a holistic, root-cause approach to health, and interventional medicine, which uses minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to treat conditions.

Now, as founder of Sarasota’s Reveal Vitality & Longevity Center, Dr. Davis practices medicine differently by looking beyond symptoms to find the root cause of illness. “We focus on the whole picture, not just one part,” he explains.

Wanting to do even more for his patients, Dr. Davis took on additional roles. He serves as Chief Medical Officer of

Liquavida Wellness Center, a leader in IV nutrient therapy, and is Chief Cardiologist at HumanN, a functional nutrition company offering plant-based supplements for heart health.

An exercise and nutrition enthusiast himself, Dr. Davis lives what he teaches. “Our bodies have an amazing ability to heal when given the right fuel and support,” he says. At Reveal Vitality’s stateof-the-art facility, patients benefit from cutting-edge therapies like

hormone optimization, and IV nutrient therapy, all guided by a physician who truly listens to, and educates his patients.

Dr. Davis gave up a successful career in traditional cardiology to focus on practicing medicine that helps people live fuller, healthier lives, and he doesn’t look back. “My goal is to help patients achieve the best version of themselves so they can be productive, give back to society, take care of their family, and thrive,” he says.

Bringing Old-School Care to Modern Vein Treatments: Dr. Lackey’s Approach to Patient-Centered Care

The personal approach

Growing up in eastern Kentucky, Dr. Lackey recalls a time when your family doctor wasn’t just a name on a chart; they were a trusted part of your life, someone who genuinely knew and cared about your family. Inspired by that personal approach, Dr. Lackey set out to bring that same old-school philosophy of medicine into his own practice. His mission is simple: to help his patients feel better and return to what truly matters in their lives. While Dr. Lackey understands the difficulties presented by the modern insurance landscape, he does his best to focus on his patients’ needs amid those challenges.

Dr. Lackey recalls one patient, an older gentleman and Army veteran. He came to Florida Lakes Vein Center with advanced chronic venous insufficiency that had caused terribly ulcerated wounds on his legs. Dr. Lackey said, “My priority is to resolve the medical issue, but what really pushed me was the desire to ensure that a man who put his life on hold to serve our nation wouldn’t have any more of his time to enjoy life taken from him.”

Why early treatment matters

Many people hear the term ‘Vein Center’ and immediately think of cosmetic treatments for veins. However, varicose veins can be just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to deeper circulation issues. Conditions like Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI), Deep Vein

Thrombosis, Edema, and Phlebitis are just a few of the reasons individuals turn to Florida Lakes Vein Center for help. The center’s goal is to detect these problems early, before they lead to painful ulcers and infections that may require long-term wound care. That’s why they specialize in early intervention, offering minimally invasive treatments like VenaSeal™ and Varithena ™ to restore healthy blood flow and prevent complications.

With more than 10,000 vein treatments performed last year, Florida Lakes Vein Center, with locations in Lakewood Ranch, Venice, Wellen Park, and Sebring, stands as one of the leading vein care providers in the state. The center is also proudly led by Thomas C. Lackey II, D.O., the only certified VenaSeal ™ and Varithena ™ trainer in Central Florida.

Timing is everything

“Many people suspect they have a vein issue but put off seeking help. However, with vein-related conditions, early intervention can make a significant difference,” explains Dr Lackey. Florida Lakes Vein Center offers free screenings to help individuals assess their symptoms. If you’re experiencing visible spider or varicose veins, leg fatigue, numbness, or restlessness, it’s worth considering a screening. The office accepts most insurance plans, including Humana and Tricare. For more information, visit our website or call our office.

Navigating Medicare with Heart: Why Carlos Hernandez is the Guide You Need

Turning 65 should be a celebration. But let’s be honest, applying for Medicare can feel like a maze with no clear exit. That’s where Carlos comes in. As the owner of Palomino Insurance in Lakewood Ranch, Carlos is more than just an insurance expert. He’s a trusted guide, a fierce advocate, and, most importantly, a real person who genuinely cares.

Insurance runs deep in the Hernandez family. Carlos learned the business from his father, a Medicare specialist who started in the insurance business in 1987. As a kid, Carlos sat in the car for hours while his dad met with clients, watching as his dad built trust, asked smart questions, and took meticulous notes. “My dad was my role model,” Carlos says. “He showed me how to listen first and recommend second.”

The name Palomino Insurance is a tribute to Carlos’ grandfather, a fearless ranger, whose call sign in Cuba was Palomino. That same bold spirit lives on in the way Carlos approaches Medicare, with courage, knowledge, and a determination to make things easier for his clients.

Carlos’ father passed away last year in May, but his wisdom remains the foundation of the company. “He always said, ‘You catch more flies with honey than vinegar,’” Carlos recalls. “That kindness-first approach is what built Palomino Insurance, and it’s what keeps us going.”

More Than Just a Policy,

It’s Personal

Medicare is complicated. Between understanding doctor networks, benefit qualifications, and the fine print of different plans, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Carlos simplifies the process by handling the research and walking clients through their options face-to-face, with patience and clarity.

“Technology is a big hurdle for many of my clients,” Carlos says. “That’s why I handle the technical side, so they don’t have to. My job isn’t just to sell insurance. It’s to make people feel safe and supported.”

At Palomino Insurance, the goal isn’t just to enroll clients. It’s to build relationships. Carlos treats every client the way his father did, with honesty, warmth, and respect. “Kindness is the most underrated business skill,” he says. “And it’s at the heart of everything we do.”

If you’re turning 65 and feeling lost in the Medicare shuffle, Carlos from Palomino is the guy you want in your corner. Because when it comes to something as important as your health, you deserve more than a policy. You deserve a partner.
