When the Trines bought the home, they redid the kitchen with granite countertops and white cabinets and drawers.

The dining room table seats 14 people.

The Trines have had benches made and placed along the property in honor of the people who lived in the home before them. One of the most famous owners was Bobby Vinton, who visited the house years later and took a photo on the bench.

The pool area at the Trine home is located between the main house and the guest house.

If the walls of Ralph and Sheri Trine’s home could talk — or, rather, sing — they would have some great stories to tell. With past owners, including legendary crooner Bobby Vinton and a French count, the Trines’ home has had a rich history since its construction by architect Phillip Hiss in 1955.

The Trines have struck the perfect balance between honoring the home’s history while adding their personal flair. Blue velvet curtains installed by the Vintons in the 1980s hang in the foyer, and the marble flooring throughout the first floor is original.

The Trines have even inscribed the names of past owners on benches throughout the property to keep its history alive.

One of-a-kind pieces from the Trines’ world travels can be found throughout the house, including white Tibetan lamb-wool carpets that Sheri Trine found on a trip to China. A dazzling 9-foot-by-7-foot chandelier, “The Eiffel,” sparkles in the foyer.

The third-floor rotunda, which the Trines have converted into a home theater, features a 360-degree view of both the Gulf and the bay, visible through floor-to-ceiling glass walls all the way around the room.

The elegant and peaceful atmosphere created by the interior of the home is the perfect complement for one of its most notable features: a 77-foot screened porch with a mesmerizing view of the Gulf. The porch provides the Trines with the perfect place for entertaining their family and friends or simply relaxing and watching boaters and marine life go by.

The Pressly Home 560 Broadway

Located in the historic Longbeach Village is the home of Jim and Susan Pressly. The charming cottage is nestled in a tropical setting of native green foliage and a variety of palm trees. A wrap-around outside deck overlooks a cocktail pool with a small rock waterfall as the center focus.

The outside comes inside, because both the Presslys are avid shell collectors, and shells of all types are found throughout the house, — they are even embedded in the mesh lining of the staircase.

Bamboo is found both inside and outside.

The master bedroom, with a Polynesian hand-carved bed frame, has a bamboo ceiling and overlooks the pool. Bamboo shades are also found in the sun room, and a bamboo-lined entrance leads to the garden.

There is an aura of serenity throughout, and a meditation nook features a life-sized Polynesian statue. The Presslys enjoy entertaining, especially in a terrace dining area, where a capiz shell mobile, made by Susan Pressly, an artist, is an eye-catcher.

Susan Pressly’s love of color is seen in the wall treatments, which range from a vivid green to brown and cream. The outdoor garden setting offers a perfect spot for relaxation and quiet solitude despite being only a short distance from Gulf of Mexico Drive.

The Mann Home

3572 Fair Oaks Way Light, bright and open are the perfect words to describe Honey Mann’s home. The house features high ceilings and plenty of natural light provided by sunlight streaming in through floor-to-ceiling glass doors. Decorated in shades of pastel with light-toned wood and glass furniture, the color palette is serene and relaxing with a distinctively Florida feel.

Unique pieces, such as Mann’s vast collection of kaleidoscopes and paintings and sculptures of indigenous birds, are placed throughout the home. There is something to catch the eye at every turn.

The most striking feature of the waterfront home is the unobstructed view of the bay, which can be enjoyed from the welcoming and open living room or by the outdoor pool.

Lenny and Susan Landau’s love of art is evident from the moment you walk through their door. Throughout the home is an extensive and eclectic collection of artwork, most of which is done by the Landaus’ family and friends and local artists. Each piece has a story, including the stunning glassart pieces by Susan Landau’s cousin, Debora Wayne, and the portrait of the Landaus’ mastiff, Priss, which hangs in the master bedroom.

The décor is classic/contemporary, featuring geometric shapes and shades of black and yellow.

The furniture and artwork pop against a neutral background of soft shades of gray and hardwood floors. The combination of striking pieces and understated elegance creates an overall feeling of chic sophistication.

The remodeled kitchen is a cook’s dream, with stainless-steel appliances and granite countertops. A large island allows the Landaus to move effortlessly throughout the space while cooking with their grandchildren, whom they enjoyed over Thanksgiving.

One of the home’s most striking features is what Susan Landau calls her “Wall of Whimsy,” which features a vibrant David Steiner painting and several large sculptures reminiscent of giant candy canes.

“You can’t wake up in a bad mood and see that wall and not smile,” she says.

The spacious living room has an abundance of comfortable seating.

A circular drive leads to “High Spirits,” the home of Don and Mary Haas. Take your time visiting this house, because there is a lot to see. Mary Haas has a theater background, which is evident in her love of drama and color. It is reflected throughout the house, which the couple bought when it was only a shell with a roof.

An enormous metal red hibiscus dominates a wall near the entrance. And an unusual copperand-bronze wreath hangs on the fireplace wall. Not to be missed is a striking Murano glass chandelier, which Mary Haas picked at the factory in Milan.

Check out the master bathroom with its hand-painted wall and rose-colored tub. Note a collage of news clips on Mary Haas’ performance for Princess Grace and the Monaco royal family.

An efficiently designed kitchen is Mary Haas’ delight — she loves to cook.

Pause a minute on the terrace dining area to look out over the pool and the spectacular view of the beach.
