Organizers adorned the ballroom with blue hues and butterfly décor for Blue Ties and Butterflies on April 19 at Michael’s On East.

he dress code was blue, but the mood was quite the opposite at the fifth annual Blue Ties and Butterflies. Child Protection Center supporters donned ensembles in the official color of child abuse awareness on April 19 at Michael’s On East, where organizers transformed the ballroom into an enchanting butterfly garden. Festivities began with music by the Southside Elementary School Jazz Band, followed by a video, a talk by CPC Executive Director Doug Staley and a live auction led by Michael Klauber. Guests raised more than $144,500 through the auction alone, which included two trips to Washington, D.C. — featuring tours of the U.S. Capitol and Library of Congress — donated last minute by U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan. Programming concluded with skits depicting CPC’s life-changing moments, along with a semi-original song by Bart Lowther and Brian Mariash.
