Elections are underway and we will soon find which candidates will be serving the constituents of our community. To help you with your decision making process, the South Merrick Community Civic Association held their annual “Meet the Candidates Night” where each candidate had an opportunity to make an appeal to the community for their vote. The victors will soon be celebrating.

The Woman of Distinction award was presented to twenty-six woman in the community. Assemblyman Dave McDonough presented the award in a formal ceremony at the Merrick Clubhouse where he acknowledged each woman for their specific accomplishments. He applauded them for their character, achievements and dedication to inspiring others and improving their community.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in Boy Scouts of America. Only a small percentage of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process. On October 9, 2022 Ethan David Lido of Merrick achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Wedding bells were ringing at Hempstead Town Hall as Town Clerk Kate Murry performed wedding ceremonies for two Bellmore couples. Congratulations Dwight Nicholas and Simone Williams of Bellmore and David Marco and Tamara Stein of North Bellmore.

The spooktackular Bellmore Chamber Halloween Parade and Trunk-orTreat was a great success this year. Ghosts, goblins and witches paraded through Bellmore Village stopping at merchants to trick-ortreat along the way. The parade culminated with an exciting trunk-or-treat experience where children collected more treats and were able to take keepsake pictures in front of seasonal displays.

Soup is good food! Autumn weather inspires the desire for flavorful hardy soup. There is much to do In and Around Town! Veterans Day is just around the corner. Show your support for Veterans and attend a Veterans Day ceremony on November 11.

Thanksgiving signals the starts the holiday shopping season. If you are looking for homemade craft items visit the Bellmore Methodist Church Craft Fair on November 12.

Thanksgiving is a holiday for all Americans. Help those in need enjoy celebrating Thanksgiving by making a donation to the Long Island Council of Churches Thanksgiving 2022 Food Drive.

November 19, 2022 is Family Volunteer Day, a global day of service that empowers families to work together to support their communities. There are many local organizations that could use your help. Consider using Family Volunteer Day to deepen children’s civic engagement and develop a lifetime of understanding the value in participating in community. The Howard More & The “Toys for Tots” Uptown Comedy Show is coming to The Bellmore Movies and Showplace on November 13, 2022. Enjoy a fun night of comedy from an all-star cast.
