Celebrating the Festival of Lights

On the first night of Chanukah, Sunday, December 18, 2022, the Chabad Center for Jewish Life was host to a Grand Menorah Lighting. Their 16th Annual Great Menorah Car Parade of fire truck and cars included a 2012 Ford Boss 302 with roof top menorahs. They traveled from the Chabad parking lot on Benson Lane in Merrick to the Long Island Rail Road parking lot where they kindled the Grand 12 ft Menorah near the gazebo.

Rabbi Shimon Kramer from the Chabad Center gave the honor of lighting the Shamash to Legislator and Senator-Elect Steve Rhoads who was joined that evening by Councilman Chris Carini, Assemblyman Dave McDonough and Congressman-Elect Anthony D’Esposito along with hundreds of community members. The celebrations included holiday treats, music, dancing and a special Chanukah show.
