The Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Urban Garden Show will be taking place from 27-28 October, featuring endless ideas for transforming even the smallest urban corners into outdoor oasis’s. The event will reveal some of the more unusual ways to get greenery into city spaces and bring the best of the outdoors in for autumn. Royal Opera House

A new visitor destination opens in the heart of London’s Covent Garden

The world-renowned Royal Opera House has finally completed its transformative £50.7m renovation and is now open every day from 10am. The Grade 1 listed building now boasts a new café, restaurant, bar, shop and free and ticketed events in its public spaces throughout the day. The three-year refurbishment has been designed to welcome thousands of UK and international visitors through the Royal Opera House’s historic doors, to experience elegant, newly-created spaces brought alive with a yearround daytime programme of events, activities and festivals, which give a taste of the inner workings of London’s famous Royal Opera House. From workshops demonstrating the magic of backstage theatre crafts, to guest artist performances and immersive events, the multi-million-pound refurbishment also launches a new shopping proposition in the heart of Covent Garden. The Royal Opera House’s main auditorium was designed in1858 by E.M. Barry. The building’s major new transformation, designed by awardwinning architects Stanton Williams, unites 19th-century grandeur with 21st-century elegance. The stunning

renovation also offers new front-of-house exhibitions, which will include spectacular costumes charting some of the most famous onstage episodes in the history of The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera. The new, contemporary destination shop has been curated with products that celebrate the craftsmanship of the Royal Opera House, creating new partnerships with pioneering young designers and heritage brands. Other immersive highlights include a new espresso bar, three contemporary restaurants, and champagne and cocktail bars offering spectacular views and signature drinks throughout the day and evening. The Royal Opera House will also continue to offer the highly popular backstage tours. These provide intriguing insights into the world behind the stage, and give an exciting overview of the backstage areas, including costume and lighting workshops. There’s also a chance to see The Royal Ballet in rehearsals in their iconic dance studios. Visitors can explore the fascinating displays of theatrical memorabilia, costumes, playbills, models and posters from the Royal Opera House Collections.

TESSA PACKARD Hammered and Stoned is the latest collection from Tessa Packard. Taking inspiration from the world of cocktails, the collection features a feast of bright colours and eccentric designs. Weighty cocktail rings made from carved gemstones - each carefully chosen for their tone and markings - sit aside one-of-a-kind ‘Cocktail Hour’ necklaces in an assortment of vivid and contrasting gemstone hues. Interchangeable earrings made from sliced fruit, booze bottles and richly hued cabochons also form part of the collection; the idea being the wearer is able to mix and match ‘ingredients’ as they please to create their own ‘cocktail’. Other pieces include a new selection of charms, including enamelled bananas and cocktail umbrellas. A series of high jewellery earrings inspired by stories as varied as moon landings, battlefields and matadors in Spain combine with a floating cocktail umbrella ring, available to purchase in a variety of metal tones and enamel colours to complete the cocktail.

Tourbillon Time The most theatrical of all complications adds a whole new level of style to your wrist.

Pretty Perfume This exclusive collection, inspired by Lalique’s alchemy of perfumery, jewellery and crystal-making, celebrates the fusion of natural and molecular ingredients with three bold new scents. We love Sweet Amber, an addictive blend of petals by Philippe Romano. Pink Paradise, Electric Purple and Sweet Amber will launch in Lalique boutiques and selected retailers in October priced at £190.00 for 100ml EDP.

As the world’s largest tourbillon, the Kerbedanz Maximus Ultra-Precision certainly creates the buzz. The 49 mm watch, with its 27 mm tourbillon cage, is a marvel of precision and a tribute to the watchmaker’s art. When scaling the movement to its outsized proportion, the master watchmakers at Kerbedanz had to make their calculations from scratch to ensure that the movement’s reliability and stability was not only preserved but improved upon. In addition to the accuracy ensured by the tourbillon itself, an 18k gold flyweight was added to fine-tune the balance of the cage. The use of titanium keeps the tourbillon cage lightweight, ensuring that despite its size, it can rotate without losing precision. It also protects the escapement from magnetic fields. A fixed balance-spring stud prevents any changes in position due to shocks, further ensuring precision, and the balance wheel can be finely adjusted. The tourbillon carriage, made of 73 components, rotates once every 6 minutes instead of the conventional 60 seconds.

Manero Tourbillon Double Peripheral The tourbillon calibre CFB T3000 is a world premiere, and represents a continuation of Carl F. Bucherer’s pioneering role in the development of peripheral technology. The movement, created entirely in-house, with a patent for the peripheral winding mechanism and a pending patent for the tourbillon, combines a peripheral rotor with a peripherally mounted tourbillon mechanism that seems to float freely. The carriage, rather than rotating on a centre ruby bearing, is supported peripherally by three ceramic ball bearings, allowing the tourbillon to be admired without obstruction from both front and back. Carl F. Bucherer’s patented peripheral unidirectional rotor allows for a completely open view of the movement through the sapphire caseback. Calibre T3000, with silicon components and a stop-seconds function, is one of the few tourbillon movements on the market to be officially COSC chronometer-rated.

th 30 Frederique Constant strikes again and is proud to present its novelty: a Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Manufacture edited in a limited series of 30 pieces which embodies the brand’s visionary spirit, determination and passion for watchmaking knowhow. For the past 30 years, Frederique Constant has been offering high quality manufactured Swiss watches in the “Accessible Luxury” segment, fully developed in-house in its manufacture workshops in Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland. In 2004, Frederique Constant introduced their first in-house patented manufacture movement: the award-winning Heart Beat Manufacture Caliber. Four years later, the brand unveiled its first in-house manufacture Tourbillon based on the Heart Beat Manufacture. In 2016, Frederique Constant created another grand complication: the manufacture Perpetual Calendar. In honor of the brand’s 30 years anniversary, the Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Manufacture represents the outcome of all the knowhow the Brand gathered during the development of its in-house manufacture movements resulting in this grand complication. The tourbillon’s cage sits resplendently in an aperture on the dial visible at 6 o’clock, with its incorporated seconds hand that rotates once per minute. Each cage is sequentially numbered on the top plate in the center of the cage, matching the limited edition number on the case. This combination showcases the

Anniversary Edition limited edition of 88 pieces for the stainless steel version and 30 pieces for the 18k rose gold case and displays a unique timepiece number for each collector. The limited 30 pieces edition reflects on the 30 years of the manufacture’s history and represent the Frederique Constant vision for accessible luxury. The timepieces are presented in a substantial 42mm diameter 3 part case, available either in polished stainless steel, in 18k rose gold plated stainless steel or in 18k rose gold with a see through case back. The Swiss-made calibers include 33 jewels and the movements are protected by a 5 ATM case for the stainless steel versions and a 3 ATM case for the 18k gold cases. Two of the timepieces display a breathtaking skeleton silver colour dial which boast the aesthetic of a bold design with printed roman numerals allowing a glimpse at the elegant perlage hand decorated components of the Perpetual Calendar through the skeleton dial. To complete the look of these timepieces, they bear a brown or black alligator strap with the rose gold and stainless steel versions respectively. The sapphire see-through case back allows the watch owner to admire the delicate Côtes de Genève decoration. The other two versions display a very clean and refined silver coloured dial, with Clous de Paris guilloché decorations and printed Roman numerals. These magnificent timepieces are available in 18k rose gold plated and stainless steel case with a brown alligator strap or in a polished stainless steel case with a black alligator strap.

Villeret Tourbillon

Volant Heure Sautante Minute Rétrograde Blancpain is reinterpreting this year its flying tourbillon, which was the first of its kind to equip a wristwatch at the time of its launch in 1989. At Baselworld 2018, the Manufacture is pairing it with new complications - jump hours and retrograde minutes - in the Villeret Tourbillon Volant Heure Sautante Minute Rétrograde model. In addition to the remarkable construction of the tourbillon, which appears to be floating on air, this new launch is distinguished by an entirely decorated movement and a grand feu enamel dial handcrafted in the Blancpain workshops. The Blancpain flying tourbillon, produced in-house as are all Blancpain movements, has been an integral part of the traditional watchmaking scene for nearly three decades. This construction offers an unsurpassed view of the tourbillon’s key components, unobstructed by the upper bridge featured in conventional tourbillon designs. The new Villeret Tourbillon Volant Heure Sautante Minute Rétrograde takes this concept one step further, as the lower bridge has been removed and replaced by a clear sapphire disk. The tourbillon cage, its balance wheel and its escapement seem to be floating in space above the tourbillon’s fixed wheel attached to the clear disk. Neither the jump hour nor retrograde minute complications have appeared in Blancpain wristwatches, thus this new timepiece marks their debut within Blancpain’s collections. These hours and minutes displays are grouped together, with the hours window placed on the retrograde minutes counter. In the Blancpain Le Brassus Métiers d’Art studio, the Manufacture has devoted its technical expertise to the cause of aesthetics in creating a classic grand feu enamel dial using the traditional champlevé technique. The artisans begin by hollowing out the solid gold base of the dial to create small compartments. Thereafter, several layers of enamel are each hand painted onto the dial and fired at a temperature of around 800 degrees Celsius. Adding diamondpolished gold rings around the hours window as well as the tourbillon porthole lends a further sophisticated touch, before the minutes counter is applied to the dial, creating an intriguing depth effect. This concern for detail is also reflected in the movement, of which the bridges are adorned with a hand-guilloché pattern. Through the transparent sapphire case back, the wearer can also admire the ratchet-wheel featuring Blancpain’s famous beveled wheel-rim design, as well as consulting the power reserve indicated by a guilloché disk. The new Villeret Tourbillon Volant Heure Sautante Minute Rétrograde is housed in a double stepped 42 mm red gold case. It is teamed with an alligator strap or metal bracelet, both secured by a folding clasp. A 50-piece platinum limited-edition version is also available.

T he Art of Gifting

Acqua di Parma team up with renowned British artist Clym Evernden for an exclusive piece of festive cheer.

Iconic Italian brand Acqua di Parma have launched their wondrous seasonal holiday collection in collaboration with multi award-winning British artist Clym Evernden and it is sure to make the perfect gift for any loved one. The highly regarded British artist has created a delightful festive decoration for Acqua di Parma’s Holiday Season collection, characterised by the unmistakable fluid ink lines of his signature style. His unique and original artwork takes inspiration from the joy of the festive season and the radiant elegance of the renowned Italian brand. The star of the tale is the little bird that Clym designed for Colonia Artist Edition. Taking form in silver this time, that runs through the entire collection, along with fir trees, ornaments, snowflakes and mistletoe, Clym has turned his eye to drawing new and original festive carols that flow smoothly across the packaging. Scenes are depicted running seamlessly into the next in a natural rhythm that adds a joyous touch to a collection encapsulating the harmony and magic of the festivities with sophistication and style. Especially for 2018, Acqua di Parma is enhancing its traditional Holiday Season range of the much-loved Holiday Sets with a new and exciting line of Holiday

Gifts consisting of perfumed soaps and hand products, plus the iconic Colonia candle in a glass, a new room fragrance and the uplifting scented drawer liners. “Clym won us over with the authentic elegance of his designs. There is nothing artificial in his art, only an instinctive and incredibly sophisticated simplicity, a subtle yet profound sense of joy, just like the informal non-clichéd elegance that characterises our brand. For us, Clym is the lifestyle of Colonia, Acqua di Parma’s signature scent and the one embodying all our values. It was therefore natural for us to want to extend the partnership to the Holiday Season collection. A gift for all fans of the brand”, says Laura Burdese, CEO and President of Acqua di Parma. Recognising in Clym’s simple yet sophisticated style a deep affinity with the brand, the Colonia Artist Edition project fully embodies the values of Acqua di Parma.

ACQUA DI PARMA Acqua di Parma is renowned for its passion and dedication to craftmanship, creating pieces of work that take time, care and precision. The Colonia Artist Edition project is the perfect illustration of these values. Clym’s drawings and illustrations, all exclusively created by hand, are characterised by small imperfections that make them totally unique and, right for this reason, all the more perfect. “I am delighted to work with a brand like Acqua di Parma for Holiday Season. Italy is one of my favourite destinations and the brand’s fragrances, style and image remind me of the light and the atmosphere of the landscapes I adore. Acqua di Parma is the byword for an understated, refined luxury devoid of ostentation and formality, something that I find very contemporary. It has also been interesting to recognise some points in common between my work and the visual codes of the brand with its strong, clear identity. The logo’s simple, Art Deco-inspired, hand-drawn design, based on a monochrome theme and

Parma yellow, has an extraordinary visual impact. This simplicity also appears in my own work: black lines that stand out against bold and vibrant colours. When I am designing, my brush strokes dart around in an almost visceral way, capturing what I am observing. I put my emotions down on paper without any filters; a sincerity and immediacy that I recognise in Acqua di Parma. It has been an honour for me to interpret the spirit of a brand such as this, both through its iconic Colonia and through the entire universe of Holiday Season”, the artist states. The partnership with Clym Evernden is part of a range of collaborative artistic projects between Acqua di Parma and sophisticated companies and individuals. Its iconic product, Colonia, has been reinterpreted on a number of occasions in accordance with the unique and distinctive sensibilities of the artists involved who paid homage to it with creations characterised by a great visual impact. In this respect, the Holiday Season project is a natural and happy creative progression of the collaboration between the brand and an exceptional interpreter.

Colonie Four Holiday Sets dedicated to the world of Colonia for a gift that encapsulates the sophisticated lightness of Italian style. Each hat box, in unmistakable Parma yellow and decorated with a silver motif designed by Clym, contains a refined range of products: Eau de Cologne 100ml, Bath and Shower Gel 75ml and Deodorant Spray 150ml. Each box bears a colour coded label: white for Colonia, bronze for Colonia Intensa, black for Colonia Essenza and matt silver for Colonia Pura.

Colonia Hand Wash and Hand Cream Set Acqua di Parma has created a new Hand Wash for people who prefer the convenience of a liquid soap. This liquid Hand Wash in a handy dispenser-type format is intensely nourishing thanks to the inclusion of enriching panthenol. The formula contains natural surfactants to ensure a delicate cleansing action that respects the skin’s natural hydrolipidic film. Aloe extract lends a pleasant feeling of freshness and at the same time provides protection for the skin. On contact with water, the soap creates a rich, thick lather that leaves the skin soft and delicately perfumed. To complement the Hand Wash or even as a daily care product, Acqua di Parma has created Colonia Hand Cream, a light emulsion that softens the skin giving longlasting protection. It has a rapidly absorbing texture that leaves a pleasant silky sensation on the skin. Its formula is enriched with panthenol, shea butter and apricot kernel oil which, thanks to their film-forming and soothing properties, ensure maximum skin protection. The perfect gift for lovers of Colonia who find its clear, citrus notes in two products that synergically complement one another. Both products are available in dispenser format and packaged inside a pretty box in Parma yellow, elegantly decorated with the delicate silver motif designed by Clym. Also available individually.

Ingredient Collection This is the ideal gift for the most cosmopolitan spirits. Each hat box, in elegant tobacco tones brightened by Clym’s illustrations in bronze nuances, exudes the allure of an olfactory voyage. A sensory adventure that starts with an original interpretation of Colonia using a rare and precious ingredient associated with a particular place and atmosphere. Three different Sets - Colonia Oud, Colonia Quercia and Colonia Sandalo - make up a unique gift that includes Eau de Cologne ConcentrÊe 100ml, Shower Gel 75ml and an elegant candle in a glass. For an even more lavish gift, the Ingredient Journey Set of Colonia Oud, Colonia Quercia, Colonia Sandalo, Colonia Ambra and Colonia Leather comes in a handy 20ml travel size for a burst of fragrance wherever you are.

The Windy City CHICAGO

Renowned for its impressive architecture and unique cityscape, Chicago is a must visit city in the US. Known as the second city of America after having mostly been rebuilt after the great fire of Chicago in 1871, Chicago is the third largest city in the United States following New York and Los Angeles. The Windy City, as it is known by many, isn’t actually that windy, according to most local legends the well-known nickname comes from the hot air bellowing from politicians. Offering visitors and locals alike a huge array of cultural, musical, foodie and architectural opportunities, Chicago packs a punch in terms of things to do. You can even visit the beach! While you may be forgiven for sandy beaches not being your first thought when thinking of Chicago, the glistening gold coast along Lake Michigan proves otherwise.

Take in a Tour

Serving up Cajun dishes, grab a beer and settle in. As a major influence on the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy has received 7 GRAMMY Awards, a 2015 Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award, 37 Blues Music Awards (the most any artist has received) and many more accolades. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #23 in its “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” so as you would expect Legends pays huge homage to this iconic musical history. Walls are adorned with tonnes of blues memorabilia, with some from Buddy’s own personal collection, making this a must visit for any music fan. You might even get lucky and see the legend that is Buddy himself.

Take in Broadway in Chicago:

Broadway In Chicago allows you to see the best of Broadway in the heart of Chicago. Hosted the stages of the city’s Oriental Theatre, the Cadillac Palace Theatre, the CIBC Theatre, the Auditorium Theatre and the Broadway Playhouse, you can discover theatre productions direct from Broadway as well as world premieres. A fantastic example of this is the much-sought after Hamilton production. Hamilton is the inspiring story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Featuring an eclectic score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now. Ticket prices for some Broadway shows start as low as $24. Current and upcoming productions include Hamilton, Heartbreak Hotel, Tootsie, Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Hello, Dolly!, Wild Kratts LIVE, Miss Saigon, The Book of Mormon, The Play That Goes Wrong and many more.

Relax: When tackling a big, bustling city such as Chicago it can be hard to take time for some much-needed relaxation. Hidden within an old lovingly restored factory that dates back to the late 19th century, the Aire Ancient Baths Chicago isn’t much to look at from the outside. However, step inside and a luxurious oasis awaits you. Located close to the West Loop, guests are invited to journey through the traditional Roman, Greek and Ottoman ancient experience of baths for a full body experience enjoying an indoor-outdoor bath, varying steam rooms, and a large saltwater flotarium along the way. The incredible building is the latest addition to the Aire Ancient Baths chain, other locations include New York and Barcelona, and has maintained its authenticity by keeping the original bricks, columns and beams making for a truly atmospheric space. Once you have toured the baths, treatments rooms are available should you wish to enjoy a massage. | |

Although nearly two-thirds of the apple orchards across the country disappeared between the 1950s and the turn of the millennium, thanks to non-commercial growers, community orchards and farmers that have focused on protecting our heritage varieties, consumers can now sample a much broader range of apples. No apple celebration would be complete without food, and chef Kathy Slack will be cooking up a range of delicious apple and harvest themed dishes, whilst Borough Market’s traders will be offering apple focused goods including apple biscuits, apple cake and cider from the New Forest. There will also be a celebration of ancient seasonal customs with music, songs and performance by local historical theatre group the Lion’s Part. In keeping with its commitment to the local community, Borough Market will also be donating a proportion of the pitch fee for participating traders to trader nominated charity, Lucy Brown House, a sheltered accommodation centre for older people in Southwark, where residents have their own flats and share communal facilities. Borough Market’s neighbour, Southwark Cathedral will deliver a short act of harvest worship in the Market, accompanied by the Market’s choir. Money raised from donations during the worship will fund the Robes Project, a local charity which provides winter night shelters for the homeless of south London. Victoria Beckham has partnered with world renowned chocolatier Pierre Marcolini to design a limited-edition box of 16 chocolate hearts to celebrate the milestone 10th anniversary of her iconic fashion house. Meeting in Paris a city close to both of their hearts, the pair masterminded a chocolate box special enough to mark the occasion. The extraordinary know-how and contemporary approach of Pierre to create the best chocolates in the world, aligned with Victoria’s forward-thinking vision, made this the perfect collaboration. One of the few chocolatiers to oversee the entire production process through to the final assemble, Victoria was able to work closely with Pierre throughout the design process. Distinctive flavours include; Casse-Noisette - Hazelnut praline caramel with the Maison’s legendary Nutcracker spread, shot through with pieces of caramelised roasted Piedmont hazelnuts; Caramel Salted Butter - Delicate salted butter caramel, coated in white chocolate; and Rose-Passion - White chocolate ganache infused with rose and passion fruit, coated in white chocolate. Les Coeurs de Victoria Beckham will be available from Pierre Marcolini boutiques worldwide and coming to an exclusive pop-up in the Victoria Beckham Dover Street store from Thursday, 4th October with a further release in November. Cocotte Hoxton Square 8 Hoxton Square N1 6NU 020 7033 4277 Cocotte Notting Hill 95 Westbourne Grove W2 4UW 020 3220 0076

Boasting healthy and delicious homemade dishes, Cocotte serves up fresh chicken rotisserie straight from farm to its London locations. ontagu Kitchen

Boasting a fantastic location, overlooking Portman Square Gardens the recently renovated restaurant, The Montagu Kitchen, is a welcome addition to Marylebone’s Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill. Celebrating the best of British seasonal produce and bringing the spirit of the English Garden inside, The Montagu Kitchen takes inspiration from Winston Churchill’s former residence The National Trust’s Chartwell House and Garden. Under direction from Kent-born Executive Chef, Mark Sainsbury, the restaurant offers modern British cuisine that showcases the seasonality of the Chartwell Gardens, and aims to put nature at the heart of its menus and interiors. The new interiors are wonderfully atmospheric with subtle lighting, soft colours, textures and patterns. Innovative lifestyle brand Designers Guild were briefed to reinterpret the Chartwell Gardens and have executed the task well, using Champ de Fleurs fabric and varying hues of lavender. Floral and botanical displays add another element of interest and have been curated by leading florist Juliet Glaves, who is well known for her organic approach to home-grown flowers. The attention to detail is really quite impressive. Small sprigs

of lavender from the roof garden on the top of the hotel are carefully placed inside the napkins and signature cocktails include the Chartwell Preserve, and Roses & Apples made with Hendricks Gin, and Chartwell Garden Apple Juice. The menus will change with the seasons but there are also several daily and weekly specials to be enjoyed.

The Montagu Kitchen 30 Portman Square, London W1H 7BH | 020 7299 2037

Highlights from the starters include the generously portioned Poached Lobster with Samphire and potato salad, grapefruit, nasturtium, vanilla mayonnaise; 16 Hours Cured Salmon, Pickled cucumber, confit tomato, radish, crispy skin and National Trust cider Horseradish mustard; and the Chartwell Garden Salad. Moving on to mains and guests can choose from a signature creation or a delectable piece of meat or fish, such as whole Dover Sole, from the Josper Grill. Hugely popular, and we can see why, is the homemade Marmalade Glazed 12 hour slow cooked Pork Belly served with delightful puff crackling, kale braised with barley, winter vegetables, and red wine sauce. Very reasonably priced for the quality and location, you will certainly not be leaving The Montagu Kitchen hungry or dissatisfied. Other standout dishes include Steamed Brixham Turbot, Swiss chard, fondant celeriac, razor clams, tomato and grape salad; and Roasted Portobello Mushroom, Garden peas, keen cheddar, lime and charred corn, beetroot ketchup. The British theme is strong in dessert with the likes of a

Michelin Star Mackerel Following the unveiling of the 2019 Michelin Star list with news that Angler has retained its Michelin Star for the fifth year running, Executive Chef Gary Foulkes shares his recipe for a signature dish at the restaurant, Mackerel Tartare, allowing you to enjoy this exceptional creation at home. Mackerel Tartare, Oyster, Green Apple and Shiso 8 fillets of de-boned, skinned Cornish mackerel fillets | 2 finely diced banana shallots | 5g chopped chives | 2 tbsp crème fraiche | Zest of 1 lemon | 2 Granny smith apples | 3 tbsp white soy | 20 sprigs of green shiso | 20 sprigs of purple shiso

Oyster cream 2 egg yolks | 5 oysters and juice | 1 lemon juice | 100ml water 400ml grapeseed oil

For the Oyster Cream: Place all ingredients except the oil into a blender and blend until smooth. Slowly pour in the grape seed oil to emulsify the mix; similar to a mayonnaise. Place in a squeezy bottle and set to one side.

For the tartare:

Raspberry Rose Bakewell Tart with homemade English honey ice cream; and the Chartwell Chocolate Wall with caramelized bananas. A daily dessert trolley including the signature Apple Pie and new freshly baked British cakes such as Orange Marmalade Sponge Cake and Cherry Tart is also available as well as a Vegan Trio and fantastic British Cheese Board. All in all, The Montagu Kitchen is well worth a visit. With so much attention to detail, from the cocktails right through to dessert, the well-thought out menu is perfectly executed, and guests can enjoy watching the skilled chefs at work thanks to the impressive open kitchen. A real destination whatever the occasion. World of Hyatt has partnered with London Restaurant Festival. Throughout October, Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill will be offering specially designed festival menus starting from £22 available at: |

Dice up the mackerel fillets neatly and place over ice to remain chilled. Mix the diced mackerel with the shallots, chives, Crème fraiche, lemon and white soy until combined. Place in seasoned mix into a ring in the middle of a plate. Dress the top of the tartar with 5 dots of the oyster cream. Then cut the apple into small batons and place on top of the oyster cream. Finish the dish with the shiso cress, placing five of each colour on top of the apple. Serve immediately!

A Cornucopia of Cocktails with JJ Goodman

A globally recognised personality and trendsetter in the world of mixed drinks, JJ Goodman is the founder and owner of the London Cocktail Club bar group and Craft Cocktail Co.

As the scorcher of a summer draws to an end, that feeling of slight dread and resentment, similar to those infamous words everyone hates to hear at the end of an evening… “last orders at the bar”; is getting closer and closer. No one seems to be ready for the shorter days that are heading our way or ready to embrace the cold chill that’s fast approaching. But it isn’t all doom and gloom, because as we start our quest to stay cosy all those lovely mixologists have already prepared exciting new cocktail menu’s that are guaranteed to warm up your winter. It’s time to turn our attention to aged

and spiced rum! With their sweet caramel notes you’re still going to feel all those tantalising tropical vibes that we all know and love about this spirit, with just that right amount of fieriness to keep you warm during those Indian summer evenings of Blighty (reminding yourself you’re not actually on a beach in the Bahamas). For those colder nights though, your cooler than cool and effortless suave Old Fashioned is going to ease you in to the winter haul with far more comfort than your winter woollies ever could. Down at LCC we’ve pimped out and spruced up some classic concoctions on our new menu; you’ll find us stirring down our Old Fashioned with Woodford Reserve Bourbon and cherry bitters, which introduces a level of warming sweetness to this timeless number for an epic explosion of flavours! Here’s a tip, if you want to try something different and really impress your friends, swap the Bourbon for an aged rum. For me, I’m reaching for the Bacardi 8-year-old, a bartender’s top choice in the smooth aged rum department. So here is to the colder months, come get tucked away after work, in the warmth of one of our London Cocktail Clubs and rest assured we’ll be bringing the heat right through the winter! Cheers!

Sartoria of Savile Row

Located on stylish Savile Row, Sartoria is a Mayfair institution. Whether you’re heading for a business lunch or a romantic dinner, the Italian restaurant is the perfect spot. Adding to their charm, Sartoria’s Libare Bar has just launched a brandnew all-day dining menu filled with tasty cicchetti and heartier plates that are ideal for sharing over a few cocktails. Impressively varied for a bar menu, highlights include generously sized Cicchetti plates such as chicken and avocado; and cuttlefish arancini. As well as Umbrian truffle and Grana Padano doughnut; and double baked potatoes with mozzarella. The salumi and cheese is perfect for grazing, while the plentiful deep-fried zucchini is always a winner. If you are looking for something a little heartier then the Aubergine parmigiana is wonderfully warming, as is the spaghetti carbonara. You can even enjoy a dessert, or two, with Italian classics such as Tiramisu, and a cake of the day. The drinks list comprises of seasonal twists on Italian classics like Bellinis, Negronis and Spritzes, alongside some original creations that take inspiration from the surrounding area. Must-tries include ‘Mayfair Fizz’ – Ketel one vodka, Disaronno, Elderflower cordial, Passion fruit and Moet & Chandon; and ‘Show Me the Way’ – a refreshing blend of Tanqueray Gin, Limoncello, Neroli and Cucumber with a shot of prosecco on the side. A large list of carefully selected Italian wines are also available by the glass or bottle, as well as a packed spirits list of rum, gin, whiskey, vermouths, amaros and even some liqueurs created by Francesco himself, including his home-grown bergamot.

Light and airy in the daytime thanks to the large windows looking out onto New Burlington Street, the sleek bar transforms into a more atmospheric location in the evening thanks to sumptuous seating and ambient lighting.

Caterham Seven

620 S

An iconic British roadster, the Caterham Seven has, since conception, been the perfect weekend car for casual drivers and enthusiasts alike. Following the launch of the insane 620 R that was built specifically with the track in mind, boasting semi-slick tyres and a whopping supercharged 2.0-litre engine delivering a 0-60mph time of just 2.79 seconds, Caterham decided that an ever so slightly more subtle version would be necessary to full enjoy the experience on the road. Introducing the 620 S. Available as a factory built car only - no option to build your own unlike with the other models in the collection - the 620 S brings everything the 'R' was built for to the road.

Packing the same 2.0-litre, supercharged Ford Duratec engine, the 620 S has been tuned to better suit the road, settling for a reserved 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds! This 310hp monster is not to be taken lightly, however it has also been equipped with numerous comforts to deliver the perfect compromise between raw driving pleasure and an enjoyable, relaxed ride. A 5-speed manual gearbox provides an added level of driving joy that enhances the whole experience. Paired with an uprated brake master cylinder and limited-slip differential taken from the 'R', this is a driving machine through and through.

What makes this a more all-round enjoyable car are the more comfortable road springs and dampers which deliver an extra level of ride comfort along with the option to select the wide-bodied SV chassis that not only increases passenger comfort through the additional space, but improves driving range thanks to the larger fuel tank. Also, for the first time, owners can opt for heated carbon seats allowing you to enjoy the ride year round - something that has often been restricted to wearing endless layers and pushing the heat setting to high. This car not only pushes the Seven to the pinnacle of its existence on the road, but delivers a beautifully balanced package that truly brings performance and comfort together for the first

time. If you have previously considered the Caterham Seven as a weekend car but felt you just couldn't justify its fair-weather use, then it might be time to reconsider. Now, you can enjoy your Seven year round and in spectacular fashion. Striking in appearance and breathtaking in performance, this is a car that wants to be pushed and enjoy the road just as much as the person behind the wheel. Everything about the 620 S has been designed for driver pleasure. Enjoy a relaxing weekend drive in the country and then, when you want to see exactly what this machine can do, simply press a little harder with your right foot, make more aggressive use of the manual gearbox and prepare for the ride. Just make sure the person next to you is ready or they might get a shock.

Italian Rarebreed

1952 Lancia Aurelia B52 Rosa D'Oro Coupe - POA

In 1952, Lancia was still continuing the pre-war tradition of supplying a limited number of rolling chassis to renowned coachbuilders such as Ghia and Vignale, but this B52 Aurelia was fotunate enough to receive the Pinin Farina treatment. A number of these Rosa d'Oro cars were produced - although the actual figure is questioned between four and six vehicles - with just three being built in this coupe body type. Elegant styling combined with muscular features and exaggerated dimensions make for an unmistakably Italian car and with its sleek pillarless windows and smooth body line enhanced by the contrast coloured roof, you enjoy the illusion of a much smaller car. This rare Pinin Farina bodied Lancia Aurelia B52 is not only a stunning example, but passes the eligibility for the historic Mille Miglia. Presented in cream coachwork with contrast black roof

and tan leather interior, the car is in excellent condition following an extensive restoration. A huge file which includes photographic restoration detail carried out in the UK in 2009 is available and demonstrates the amount of work that has been put in to this Concours worthy beauty. The two-tone design dashboard with its stylish round dials is breathtaking, continuing the theme of the overall aesthetic. But it's not just how it looks, the car drives tightly through corners thanks to its suspension, whilst moving with grandeur and grace on the road. One of the car’s curiosities is that behind the generous front bench seat there are only folding seats, another unique detail that makes this car all the more special. This is a very special and rare matching numbers car that is not to be missed. A car for the true connoisseur it would be a welcome entrant at a host of global Concours D’ Elegance.

The Value of Having Your Own Front Door with Patch Lister, Associate Director Residential, Savills Chelsea

First impressions are everything and flats with their own front door are more prized than those without, particularly in London. A private front door makes a property feel more like a house, but without losing valuable square footage to stairs or landings. If we were to have two identical flats - one with a communal entrance and the other with its own front door - the latter would certainly generate stronger interest and likely sell for up to 10 per cent more. Indeed, many buyers list a private front door or entrance as an essential. Some apartment conversions are fortunate enough to retain the grand front door to the original building, and potential buyers are usually pleasantly surprised to have direct access through such an elegant entrance without having to pass through communal areas. Having your own front door also eliminates the need to share a hallway with neighbours, and increases both security and privacy. There can be a value trade off as these flats are often on the lower ground floors. However, this might well be mitigated by the benefit of having a garden and a lower service charge.

Billing Place, Chelsea A beautifully presented two bedroom house, situated in a highly sought after private Chelsea road with parking. The house has been meticulously refurbished and is well laid out with a superb kitchen/family/dining room that opens onto the south facing courtyard garden. There are two double bedroom suites and a separate utility room with W.C.

If you have ever sold your home, you will be all too familiar with the pressure to make the property look tiptop in time for a viewing. I believe your home must appeal to the most likely type of person to buy it, so it's vital to understand a bit about the demand profile in your area. The chart above shows the demographic profile of our part of the world. While the specific needs of buyers can vary quite widely, there are some must-haves which are usually on top of most people's lists. You can't do much about the size or location of your home, but there are some things you can do which make all the difference. For example, clever use of light and space can really pump-up the 'wow' factor of any property.

Yet what most people really want is a home that will increase in value over the long term. The rewards of getting it right are substantial. The average price of a mid-market property here has risen by 6.9 per cent per year since 2001, equal to an annual increase of approximately £16,100. The top 5% by price have risen by 5.9 per cent per year while the top 1% have seen annual growth of 5.3 per cent. To sell your home in the quickest time possible and get better than the asking price, it's important to understand buyers' mindsets. If you have any questions or are thinking of selling your E14 property, get in touch with me. I'm always on-hand to give you the latest market intelligence. Spencer Fortag
