SAIL AWAY IN STYLE

What better way to escape the UK winter than soaking up the sun on a luxury yacht. The ideal travel solution to avoid any potential disruption and perfect for those looking for a unique holiday experience with the option to enjoy complete freedom. Heesen's stunning Moskito delivers 55 metres of uninterupted luxury and is availble for your winter getaway.

Both sporty and timelessly elegant, superyacht Moskito epitomises the Heesen DNA - built for hydrodynamic efficiency and fast performance, she features the newest iteration of Van Oosaanen’s Fast Displacement Hull Form, offering frugal fuel consumption, long range and a top speed of 15.5 knots.

The latest in the Dutch shipyard’s successful 55m Steel Class, Moskito boasts sleek, muscular exterior lines by icon Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and bold, chic interiors by renowned British studio Bannenberg & Rowell. Extensive use of glass and floor to ceiling windows offer interiors flooded with natural light and panoramic views throughout.

Designed as a wellness cocoon and haven, the crowning jewel of this ‘spa at sea’ is a unique dedicated wellness area accessible via an opulent beach club, complete with sauna, seating, shower and shade. Her generous exterior deck spaces total 250 square metres, including a spacious sun deck with pool, sunbathing area and bar.

Arthur Brouwer, CEO of Heesen comments “The 55m is a very popular class and we are the only Northern European shipyard to offer such a yacht on spec. We are proud to be presenting such a fine example of Heesen’s DNA. Moskito is sporty, sleek, and timelessly elegant in design, while offering the best in performance and efficiency. She has the right balance of indoor and outdoor space - meaning ultimate interior comfort and luxury, with spacious alfresco spaces to enjoy the best of yachting lifestyle.”

A blend of natural, noble tones and a tailored spatial arrangement creates a sense of gravitas. Traditionally crafted smoked Oak chevron parquet flooring, white Thassos, grey St. Laurent and ivory Travertine marble are used throughout, with warm bronze accent that underwrite fine workmanship and furnishings.

Artworks have been sources from British talents – from flowing porcelain forms by Fenella Elms, to Rose Vickers’ marquetry mosaics, and intricate paper collages by Hormazd Narielwalla. High up on the bridge deck, the secluded skylounge is ideal for periods of calm and relaxation. “Our guiding philosophy was that the owner should be as happy hosting a black-tie dinner as lounging in their shorts,” says interiors designer Bannenberg.

On the main deck lies the owner’s apartment, spanning more than eighty-two square metres. Bespoke furnishings include a desk commissioned from GMS joinery in London. Oak parquet and eucalyptus veneers add continuity to the main deck colour palette

– soft, easy going and light in tone. A spiral staircase leads to four exceptional ensuite cabins on the lower deck – two doubles and two twins – each with a spacious bathroom, a wardrobe and a dressing table. Large hull windows give every cabin and every bathroom a beautiful view.

Speaking of views, Moskito’s exterior guest spaces add up to some two hundred and fifty square metres. The sizeable sundeck is the focus of open-air life on the yacht, at anchor or in port – complete with a pool, bar, seating and sunbathing areas. Linked to the deck saloon by simple sliding doors, Moskito’s aft terrace provides forty-four square metres of alfresco comfort. For dining and entertaining, the table at the centre of the main deck can seat twelve, for relaxed or formal occasions.

Moskito will be available for charter by selected guests via International Yacht Collection, in the Mediterranean in summer and in the Caribbean in winter.

EMOCEAN

NOT YOUR USUAL EXPLORER YACHT

Following her successful debut at the 2021 Cannes Yachting Festival, Rosetti Superyachts (RSY) reveals further insights into the design and performance of their first superyacht project to hit the water.

Built for an experienced couple who were closely involved in all aspects of the design and construction of the yacht, the RSY 38m EXP M/Y Emocean is not just your typical yacht.

Powered by twin MAN D2868 LE 425 engines (588kW) with a round-bilge displacement hull, bulbous bulb, electric CMC stabilisers and extended skeg optimised for cruising at between 10 and 11 knots, the RSY 38m EXP M/Y Emocean is designed to spend long periods on board in complete comfort and safety in all sea conditions.

With a solid construction and long range of 5,000nm at 10 knots, the RSY 38m EXP has a gross tonnage of 432 GT and boasts volumes that are typical of larger yachts. Her 700 square metres of space are divided almost equally between the interior and exterior.

The exterior profile is classic in proportion but contemporary in style with tense, angular lines. At the request of owners, the windows and openings are as large as possible.

The main salon has large windows and sliding doors that offer wide sea views, thanks also to the fact that the engine room ventilation shafts have been moved further forward. In addition, two large side sliding doors provide access to the cutaway bulwarks and the side decks. The space is divided into two main areas: a veranda-style seating area towards the stern and the dining area.

On the starboard side, a custom-designed wine cellar with a 150 bottle capacity acts as a divider between the guest areas and the master stateroom, which is spacious and well distributed with a fixed side balcony, always on the starboard side, accessible through a sliding glass door. The owners chose this solution because it can be used without requiring help from the crew, thus ensuring greater privacy. The master stateroom itself comprises a private office, large His & Hers bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe.

“The owners of M/Y Emocean came to us because of our background in building thoroughly reliable commercial vessels - this was the first thing that they put on their brief,” says Andrea Giora, RSY Sales & Marketing Director. “On the other hand, they wanted to be able to interact with the builder, to know the suppliers, to speak with them and select the best contractor for each element that was to be installed on board.”

The fresh contemporary interior styling is by BurdissoCapponi Yachts & Design, a local design firm based in Ravenna, and is

based on joinery of light Creta oak and dark smoked oak. A key feature is the main lobby where a bespoke sculpture by Giacinto Bosco occupies pride of place in the stairwell.

“The project was born from the close collaboration and synergy with the owners who expressed their tastes and desires, functional and layout needs,” says Francesca Burdisso. “Following various meetings it emerged clearly that the staircase would become the fulcrum of the project, reflecting character and style that runs throughout the yacht.”

Alternating glossy and opaque lacquers in light but warm tones are used for the furniture finishes. The owner’s bathroom features surfaces in Silk Georgette marble with both a raw and brushed finish, while the guest bathrooms are fitted with Silestone Coral Clay with a tactile suede finish.

“The owners wanted a choice of materials and natural tones that transmit a muted but fresh ambience with Mediterranean accents,” continues Burdisso. “The furniture forms are characterised by clean and essential lines and the open-plan layout is divided into a succession of spaces that are emotionally diversified.”

On the lower deck is a beach club and four comfortable guest cabins (two twins and two doubles), as well as the crew accommodation (three cabins), a crew mess, pantry and pro-spec galley. Between the upper and main deck there is also a dedicated laundry and storage room. For complete independence at sea, the yacht has almost 3,000 litres of fridge-freezer space in the galley and the crew pantry and a technical room on the lower deck which hosts fuel and water tanks sufficient to guarantee long cruises.

Unusually, the main lounge is located on the upper deck. The tender is stowed on the open aft deck, while a spacious partially shaded is dedicated to an al fresco lounge. The captain’s cabin is located adjacent to the wheelhouse with integrated bridge overlooking a huge sunbed on the open foredeck.

The 150-sqm sundeck features a jacuzzi pool with cascade, a large bar unit, dining facilities including a large table for 12 people with chairs and side seats and a gym area.

“Stylistically, this is not your typical explorer yacht,” says Giora. “But in other ways it complies with the explorer concept, including a huge range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, solid design and construction, and great storage volumes. So in terms of the main characteristics of what true explorers are all about, she is definitely an explorer yacht!”

APACHE

THE EXPRESSION OF ITALIAN EXCELLENCE

At 76 metres overall with a maximum beam of 12.5 metres, the steel and aluminium Apache project is based on a brand new technical platform with beautifully sleek exterior styling, chic interior design and never-before-seen luxury features by Alberto Mancini.

Inspired by modern architecture, Apache’s clean exterior lines are based on crisp horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines. Resembling the fletching or feathers of an arrow, the clean exterior lines offer dynamic good looks as well as minimised bulwarks for uninterrupted views outboard and intimate contact with the sea.

A sensational new superyachts concept, Apache’s beach club is a key feature of the new design. The folding side terraces can be deployed to offer 125 sqm of upscale resort space and a floodable swimming pool with access via a grand central staircase from the main deck. It is connected to the garage, which when emptied of tenders and toys offers even more deck space. The folding platforms are also fitted with one-way glass the same colour as the hull so as not to spoil the exterior aesthetics.

“I wanted to avoid the typical cave dark effect that today we see in many beach clubs,” says designer Alberto Mancini. “Indeed, Apache’s beach club design is not just an area for accessing the sea to be enjoyed only when anchored during the day; it is fully integrated with the main deck salon so it can be used day or night as an extension of the outdoor living space.”

Back inside, the main deck salon and dining room cover a light-filled area of 118 sqm. This is the yacht at its most convivial, a hub for socialising with direct access to the large outdoor terrace or down to the beach area. There are four guest cabins on main deck that enjoy much larger windows than conventional cabins on the lower deck, as well as a semi-open foredeck lounge and gym, as well a luxurious VIP suite in the bow.

The palatial master stateroom is on the upper deck forward with direct access to an absolutely sensational 9.5-metre long “Flying Pool” forward. The pool has a glass bottom so not only do you feel like you’re swimming suspended in space, but dappled light can also trickle down into the semi-open lounge and gym on the deck below. Such a foredeck feature has never been attempted before on a superyacht.

In the designer’s vision, the interior styling combines a discreetly sophisticated melange of Loro Piana soft fabrics and silk upholstery, warm oak parquet flooring and nubuck suede to create a luxurious but welcoming and understated ambience. Dark blue ash wood panels and a walkable glass corridor through the owner’s suite create a pleasing balance between warm and cool materials.

The bridge deck features a spacious wheelhouse with separate radio room and a very comfortable captain’s cabin, as well as an additional lounge for more intimate socialising or as a cosy nook to escape to with a good book. On the open aft deck there is a second pool. On the very top deck there is even a cosy observation lounge or crow’s nest with panoramic views high above the water, ideal for enjoying the last rays at sunset.

Apart from the beach club, the lower deck is devoted to the crew and service areas with a pro spec galley and crew mess, laundry, cold and dry stores, and hull openings for fast, efficient provisioning and servicing of the vessel. There is also a dedicated cinema room for guest use adjacent to the lobby and elevator.

Apache is projected to have a displacement of 1,350 tons and a gross tonnage of 1,515GT. There are two propulsion options: twin CAT C3512E (2 x 1901 kW @ 1,800 rpm) or twin MTU V4000M73 (2 x 1920 kW @ 1,970 rpm) engines for a top speed of 16.5 knots, cruising speed of 15 knots and a range of 5,000nm.

25 YEARS OF SPECTACULAR SOHO SEAFOOD

Randall & Aubin, the much loved Anglo-French brasserie specialising in seafood in the heart of Soho, celebrates 25 years since co-owners Jamie Poulton and Head Chef Ed Baines opened the doors in 1996. For the last quarter century the restaurant has been feeding foodies, Soho dwellers and celebrities, treating Londoners and visitors alike to their signature unpretentious yet lively atmosphere, with a side of exceptional seafood under the restaurant’s giant glittering disco ball.

Guests are invited to toast the restaurant's anniversary with a bottle of Randall & Aubin’s own Champagne, with a specially designed limited edition label by renowned British artist John Yeo. Best known for his portraits of well known faces such as Cara Delevingne, Damien Hirst, Prince Philip and Erin O'Connor, Yeo has created the bespoke design, with bottles available to pop alongside a lunch or dinner, or to take away from the restaurant and carry on the party at home.

A historic Soho space, Randall & Aubin originally opened as a butcher’s shop in 1911, and quickly became one of the finest purveyors of meat in London, supplying the likes of The Ritz and The Savoy. Soon it expanded its offering and was established as one of London’s premium gourmet food retailers, and when Jamie and Ed took over the space in 1996, they were careful to preserve several of the shop’s original tiles and fixtures.

To this day, guests can still see the butcher’s hooks hanging from the ceiling, marble countertops, and the original sign erected by Morin Randall and Cavenur Aubin, the original founders of Randall & Aubin.

In re-imagining the space as a restaurant, Jamie and Ed came together with a shared passion for quality ingredients and sustainability, ensuring that everything on the menu showcased the finest local and seasonal produce, creating delicious yet approachably luxurious dishes. This ethos remains at the heart of the restaurant, where they hope to welcome guests for another 25 years amongst the ever changing face of their beloved Soho.

Jamie says ‘Randall & Aubin has lived many lives and witnessed the ever changing faces of Soho evolve over the past 25 years. We have been lucky enough to enjoy unwavering support from our guests, colleagues, peers and neighbours, and we are certain we would not be celebrating our quarter century without them. As we mark this milestone birthday, we hope to welcome faces old and new into the restaurant, to raise a toast to 25 more years at the stoves.’
