DELVE IN TO DUBROVNIK

Host to globally loved, award winning television shows while boasting a rich history and truly stunning scenery, Croatia's Dubrovnik is the perfect destination to soak up the sun whilst enjoying some of the country's heritage.

Thanks to its location on the Dalmatian coast, in the extreme south of Croatia, Dubrovnik enjoys beautiful Mediterranean sunshine for much of the year, making this very much a year-round destination.

Renowned as one of the world’s most magnificent walled cities and fondly known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, the stunning 6th-century Old Town is truly a sight to behold. This famed city has received further interest following its use as the location of a number of scenes from the iconic Game of Thrones series, with much of the filming taking place in within this historic site. If you are a fan, there are numerous tours on offer to explore the incredible set locations used and equally if you are one of the few who haven’t subjected hours to the screen, it is a fantastic way to take in the Old Town and see some of the places you might otherwise pass by.

Wander the bustling boutiques, markets and bars, before enjoying a hearty lunch of freshly caught seafood and a long walk along the iconic walls. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old Town and its towering walls rise above the central 13th-century main street and there are plenty of passageways and staircases to explore. It’s a fantastic way to avoid feeling guilty for eating all the delicious seafood as there are some long and steep staircases to tackle should you so choose. It will also help you justify indulging in one of the many superb ice cream parlours dotted throughout the Old Town. Offering every flavour under the sun, it is the perfect way to refresh and cool down after your exploration.

Outside the old walls, the cable car, which rides up to Mount Srđ, offers spectacular views of Dubrovnik and beyond, with the beautiful turquoise waters stretching out as far as the eye can see. If the view isn’t quite enough to quench your thirst, then you can head back down to the Old Town Harbour and jump on a boat to enjoy the water a little closer. A regular ferry will take you across to the supposedly cursed island of Lokrum - which also features on some Game of Thrones tours - which is only open during the day, but affords a worthy trip to either explore or relax. Cursed or not, the stunning scenery of rocky beaches, lush greenery and the Adriatic Sea will make the visit one to remember. You can enjoy a long walk, take pictures of the peacocks - the island’s only inhabitants - explore the Benedictine monastery or even the Game of Thrones centre - it’s well worth the day trip.

The origins of the Croatian language and its classic literature can be traced back to Dubrovnik, and the city remains an epicentre of culture, art, music and science. It also makes the perfect starting point for exploring the rest of Croatia’s charming beaches and idyllic islands.

Overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik’s enchanting charm isn’t the only thing on offer, there’s plenty to see and do.

A short stroll from the tourist sights, Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik is a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the magical city whilst still offering the same stunning views of the Adriatic and its own little oasis on the coast.

Beautifully modern with a cool resort feel, the stunning hotel has been recently refurbished to incorporate wonderfully light, contemporary interiors with magnificent sea views. Tucked away in a peaceful bay, carved into the cliffside, the five-star, luxury boutique hotel makes the most of its enviable location with fantastic floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the vast Adriatic and flooding every space with light.

Step into the spacious lobby from the glass fronted street entrance and you get your first glimpse of the hotel’s incredible view. From here, the hotel stretches down the cliff face moving through restaurants, rooms and the spa before culminating in the beachside terrace with access to the tranquil, secluded bay waters.

The luxuriously modern rooms and suites - 91 rooms, 14 of which are suites - have been beautifully refurbished with a clean and contemporary style that is instantly soothing to the eye, creating a calm and tranquil space to relax in and is more than fitting against the turquoise blue backdrop.

Not only can guests admire the breath-taking views of the Adriatic seafront from private balconies, the neutral toned rooms boast a range of luxurious textiles and furnishings in complementing shades of beige, stone and soft grey. With eight room types, there is something for everyone to suit all budgets, and each room boasts free WiFi and luxurious L’Occitane toiletries.

Back in the rest of the hotel, the Energy Clinic wellness & spa has everything you need for a relaxing morning or afternoon. There’s a jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, steam room, experience showers, and a large pool with views out to the glistening sea. An extensive treatment list is also available which varies from luxurious Sisley Paris treatments to signature massages and scrubs.

At the base of the cliffs, and accessed via lift, is a peaceful pebble beach complete with a beautiful sun-deck and beachside restaurant, Nevera. Set inside an atmospheric cave with a stunning beach terrace, here you can sample some of the best Dalmatian fish, seafood and salads in Dubrovnik, freshly caught from the surrounding islands and expertly matched with Croatia’s most exclusive wines such as Pošip and Dingač. After your light lunch, why not retire back to your sun lounger for some more relaxation.

Breakfast is equally enjoyable, set up the cliffside, the Vapor Restaurant host a sprawling buffet with your choice of hot dish overlooking that stunning cove. You can also indulge in some contemporary fine dining of an evening at this Michelin Guide restaurant.

Some facilities at the hotel are seasonal such as Nevera, so check before booking. Double rooms at Hotel Bellevue start from €351 - approximately £301 per night.
