Serpentine Pavilion 2018 15 June - 7 October
A firm highlight in London’s arts calendar, the Serpentine’s Summer Pavilion will return this month with a lavish opening night on the 9 June. Now in its 18th year, the project allows a chosen architect, who must not have previously had one of their designs built in the UK before, create a thought-provoking, temporary structure in Kensington Gardens. This year, architect Frida Escobedo, celebrated for dynamic projects that reactivate urban space, has been commissioned to design the Serpentine Pavilion 2018. Harnessing a subtle interplay of light, water and geometry, her atmospheric courtyard-based design draws on both the domestic architecture of Mexico and British materials and history, specifically the Prime Meridian line at London’s Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Built to house a cafe and a series of events, the Serpentine Pavilion is a must visit this summer. The Serpentine Pavilion 2018 will be open every day from 10am to 6pm, excluding 18/19 June when it will close, re-opening at 1pm on 20 June.
Celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2018, the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition will be coordinated by Greyson Perry RA. First held in 1769, the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition is the largest regular contemporary art exhibition in the world. This impressive show allows for a great array of contemporary works to go on display and a monumental sculpture greets visitors to the exhibition as they walk through the historic building’s great courtyard. With over 1,200 works on display, you’ll see art you love, art you hate, art that leaves you thinking and art that simply puts a smile on your face. The works can be submitted by anyone – from relative unknowns to famous artists and members of the RA, and are carefully chosen and placed on display, with the majority of works on sale at varying price ranges making it accessible for all. Due to the open submission process, the element of surprise as to what is on display each year keeps the exhibition fresh and interesting. Purchases help raise money for the non-profit making areas of the Academy, including the Royal Academy Schools. royalacademy.org.uk

Hutong’s Ma La Beef Hutong serves Northern Chinese cuisine, with head chef Fei Wang taking inspiration from the dishes based in the ‘Lu school’ cuisine of Shandong Province with influences from Sichuan Province, famous for its fiery spices and peppers. Ma la is a much celebrated regional sauce in Sichuan cuisine. A combination of two Chinese characters, ‘ma la’ meaning “numbing” and “spicy” refers to the feeling in the mouth. This version of the sauce delivers an authentic spicy flavour which perfectly compliments the texture of the beef tenderloin. Ma La Beef Tenderloin Serves 2-3 2 tbsp vegetable oil | 200g beef tenderloin strips | 20g thinly sliced fresh green and red bird’s eye chillies | 5g chilli bean sauce | ½ tsp salt | ½ tsp white pepper | 5g sliced ginger | 5g thinly sliced spring onion | 5g thinly sliced garlic | ½ tsp potato or corn starch | 35ml cold water | 3 thinly sliced aubergine
Heat a non-stick pan with 2 tbsp of vegetable oil, then pan fry the beef tenderloin for 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, and keep stirring for 5 minutes on a high heat, so they don’t get burnt. In a separate bowl, stir the potato starch and water until mixed. Add the mixture into the pan, stir for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens. Warm up the cooker/steamer, place the sliced aubergine into the steaming tray. Let them steam for 2-3 minutes until softened. Place the aubergine at the bottom of the serving plate, add the ma la beef and garnish with spring onion. For more information visit hutong.co.uk

Midnight Black Ceramic Black is the new gold in high-tech ceramic or ultra-comfort black rubber for the latest iteration of the groundbreaking Zenith Defy El Primero 21, the most accurate chronograph the world has ever seen. In yet another master sleight of hand, the Manufacture stunned the world in 2017 with the grand release of the Defy El Primero 21. A chronometric reinvention of accuracy and reliability, the ultimate embodiment of the spirit of innovation that has coursed through Zenith’s blood for the past 150 years. In 1969, Zenith launched El Primero, the first ever fully integrated automatic column-wheel chronograph movement, enabling 1/10th of a second precision. The ultimate fulfilment of a quest for perfection and a proven ability to create watchmaking legends, this groundbreaking model laid a new milestone in watchmaking history that had never been surpassed - until now. Half a century later, Zenith has once again defied tradition and pushed all existing boundaries, leading us into the world of 1/100th of a second accuracy. It’s not only the movement that knows no bounds, with a lustrous night-black ceramic case providing a perfect complement to its rich inner workings, black is unquestionably the new gold in the Defy El Primero 21 Black Ceramic. Sleek rutheniumplated hour-markers and hands enliven an elegantly complex openworked dial featuring a chronograph powerreserve indication at 12 o’clock, hours and minutes in the centre, small seconds at 9 o’clock, black 60-second counter at 6 o’clock and distinctive blue 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock. The Defy El Primero 21 Black Ceramic presents a delightful dilemma with a choice of a supremely comfortable black rubber strap with a matching black DLC-coated titanium double folding clasp, or a magnificently stylish black ceramic bracelet. With a generous 50hour power reserve, this exceptional timepiece is water-resistant to 100 metres, and is sure to catch the attention of the most discerning watch enthusiasts seeking to wish upon a star. zenith-watches.com

Every good story carries some mystery and an element of truth that touches the audience. Despite the plethora of watches and respective back stories, there are a few that genuinely capture the imagination both from a historical and sartorial viewpoint. The Cartier Tank began its tale off the back of its namesake war machines as they drove through Paris but has evolved into becoming an essential accessory in the world of fashion. The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and Rolex Submariner enjoy genuine and important roles in diving lore yet are fundamentally fashion statements today despite still being built for purpose. Even the Reverso, birthed in the colonial but still romantic 1930’s India is a lynchpin of the Jaeger LeCoultre brand. All of these watches are borne of a necessity but also a little flair and our love of something new, yet the ideas come from the allure of the intangible; not every man was able to drive a Tank or play Polo, neither were they able to dive to incredible depths but every single person could aspire to. This aspiration comes from a good story, full of hope and vision with relatable characters driven by a tantalising storyline. Le Petit Prince is one of the most well loved stories of the last century that follows this ideal. Written by Antoine Marie JeanBaptiste, Comte de (Count of) Saint-Exupery, the tale tells the story of a Pilot who crashes in the desert and has one week to fix his damaged plane. Whilst in the desert, he is visited by a little prince, described as such due to the boy’s looks and mannerisms. The
Little Prince had visited six planets prior to Earth and deducted certain philosophical ideas based on his questions. Ultimately defined as a children’s story, the book’s main themes are as relevant as ever; material possessions against the immaterial and mans quest for things that take up the time he or she will never get back. Translated into over three hundred languages, it is an international best seller and famous the world over.

WATCHES
The author is significant in his own right outside of the book being an airline pilot focusing on mail routes in Europe, America and North Africa before the First World War and then becoming a pilot for the French army during the War. Like any good story, he met his end mysteriously disappearing over the Mediterranean during a reconnaissance mission in 1944, a year after The Petit Prince was published. Shortening his name whilst touring North America, campaigning for the United States to join the War, Antoine de Saint Exupery wrote and published other literary accomplishments from poems to more books but will be remembered most for the “Le Petit Prince.” Given the tone of the book and the author’s background, it seemed only appropriate that IWC would take up a possible collaboration with ease. All the elements to make a good partnership were already in place. The IWC’s Pilot’ Watch is another field tested instrument that though now fundamentally a discreet statement of style, enjoying a back story that sees the model survive World Wars and prove to be a useful tool in the cockpit. Even with a German bias that can’t be overlooked, the IWC Pilot’s Watch is one of the reference points for Pilot’s Watches and carries the necessary reverence. Therefore, the partnership between the foundation of Antoine de Saint Exupery and IWC seemed a natural fit. The IWC’s Pilot Watch story has been told many times over. The instrument provided necessary timing data for Pilot’s when the timing between certain points provided vital navigational aid whilst also functioning
without fault in a highly magnetised environment thanks to its revolutionary soft iron cage acting as a mobile Faraday Cage. The legendary Mark XI series is now up to Mark XVIII and from the humble beginnings of just a functional Pilot’s family mirrored by a more contemporary Spitfire collection, the range now covers over five distinct lines with virtually every iteration available. The Mark XVIII base is the foundation for every collection in the range. From the simple black dial of the Classic Pilot’s Watch to the brown dial of the Saint-Exupery family, ceramic models are covered in the Top Gun and Miramar models named aptly after the Naval base where the Top Gun Pilots are trained. A Heritage collection is delivered in titanium with dials inspired to resemble their historic predecessors. Even a bronze cased watch has been created within the Big Pilot’s Watch range ensuring the collection is firmly on trend with the new material of the moment. All in all, there is something now for everyone within this pillar that has grown beyond its functional roots without losing any of the core elements that make it so important. Le Petit Prince or LPP for short enjoys its own line. A signature sunburst blue dial is the hallmark of the family. Aside from a few limited editions, the core of the LPP collection is found in the Mark XVIII automatic, Chronograph and Big Pilot’s models. Each one carries a Santoni made brown calf strap with striking orange base that juxtaposes well against the deep blue dial. The Pilot’s Chronograph is as important in the history of IWC as the Mark series, while the Big Pilot’s Watch is perhaps one of the most recognisable watches in the world. The blue dials and brown straps are more modern than the understated designs of the past but this welcome evolution has brought in a new generation of fans who in turn are also educating themselves on the story of this incredible Marque. The entire Classic Pilot’s collection is in our Boutique for you to view in the flesh. Every good horological story needs a beginning, the IWC Pilot’s Watch is a great place to start!

Jewel in the Crown A haven for high rollers and thrill-seekers alike, Monaco packs a real punch for what is the world’s secondsmallest country after the Vatican. Sitting pretty at just 200 hectares with 38,000 residents, it’s not only quick and easy to get around but great for Formula One fans to see the incredible circuit with ease.
HOTEL METROPOLE MONTE-CARLO
With glamorous casinos and glitzy nightlife, there is much more to Monaco than just the annual Formula One Grand Prix. Just a short drive from nearby Nice and Cannes, tourists and locals alike can enjoy a quick trip out of the principality to take in the scenic drive along the famous Mediterranean coastal road. The French Riviera is renowned for its chic, picturesque coastal towns, and Monaco serves as a fantastic base with its sparkling blue sea views and white yachts galore in Port de Monaco (Port Hercules) which is among the world’s leading cruise-ship harbours. Spring and summer are the busiest seasons in Monaco, with visitors gathered from around the globe for events such as galas, concerts, performances of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo, international festivals, and art exhibitions. Must-see sights include the Prince’s Palace, home to current Prince of Monaco Albert II, son of late Prince Rainier III and actress Grace Kelly; Monaco Cathedral, where Prince Rainier and Princess Grace are laid to rest; and the dazzling Casino de Monte Carlo. One of the oldest casinos in the
world, several movies have been filmed in the imposing Belle Epoque style building including James Bond’s Never Say Never Again and GoldenEye. Audio guided tours are available in the morning, just remember to take your passport for identification and adhere to dress codes. Monaco’s high season starts in May with the annual and highly attended Formula 1 Grand Prix, which attracts thousands of visitors and is a major event throughout the city. Sure, Monaco is flashy, with designer boutiques, supercars and impressive yachts ten-a-penny, but you can see the appeal for the rich and famous. Although small, they can wander the streets freely with little disturbance or bother. Paparazzi aren’t allowed into the principality making it easy for celebrities to go incognito while enjoying the finer things in life with little effort. It also helps that residents of Monaco do not have to pay income tax, further explaining the many wealthy citizens living there. Unsurprisingly many racing drivers have had homes here over to the years including Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

Where to stay Perfectly located in the Carré d’Or, within walking distance of the Casino, Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo overlooks the glittering Mediterranean Sea. The luxurious Belle Epoque property was built in 1889, before being fully renovated in 2004 by famous French designer Jacques Garcia, who transformed it into a palace of 126 rooms and suites with a Mediterranean charm in keeping with its era, fusing glamour and sophistication with modern day necessities. With a beautifully landscaped private driveway, it is little surprise that the hotel is loved by the elite. Dining plays a particularly integral part of hotel life with four restaurants run by renowned chef Joël Robuchon and Christophe Cussac, offering a unique and varied culinary experience for the discerning palate.
With two Michelin stars, “Restaurant Joël Robuchon MonteCarlo” specializes in refined dishes with Mediterranean flavours. A much-loved favourite for wealthy residents and guests to Monaco alike, the wonderfully light and sumptuous dining room boasts a large terrace which overlooks part of the prestigious F1 race track. Dishes, as you would expect, are perfectly executed offering fresh Mediterranean dishes with seasonal ingredients. From the likes of John Dory and Red Mullet, to Veal and Beef, there are also a number of colourful vegetarian options. However, it has to be said, the potato puree is something else, as is the dessert trolley with an array of perfectly formed, tempting treats certain to delight the palette. Set lunch menus start at just 62 Euros. “Yoshi”, Joël Robuchon’s only Japanese restaurant in the world, has one Michelin star and offers traditional Japanese cuisine in a bold and contemporary setting designed by Didier Gomez. Here you can enjoy some of the finest Japanese wine with fresh sashimi, sushi, teppan yaki meat and glorious Black Cod. Joël Robuchon’s third restaurant “Odyssey” is located by the pool in the lush gardens and has been designed by famed designer Karl Lagerfeld, further enhancing this magnificent hotel’s style credentials. The menu at Odyssey has been inspired by the Mediterranean, and again celebrates wonderfully fresh seasonal produce and light cuisine with delicious salads, fish and fruit all on the menu. Finally, glamorous, elegant, warm and located at the heart of the elegant hotel, the Lobby Bar is the perfect setting for all kinds of gourmet treats from lobster and fries to pretty macarons. HOTEL METROPOLE MONTE-CARLO restaurants, giving priority to species other than the classics so well-known by gastronomic fans of the bounty of the sea. As a protected marine species, bluefin tuna is thus no longer offered on the restaurant menus. While it has to be said the dining is second to none at Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo, the most recent addition to the property has been in collaboration with the House of Givenchy. In March 2017, the brand-new Spa Metropole by Givenchy opened at the hotel and was designed by architect Didier Gomez. Embodying the same philosophy shared in the House’s venues: exceptional location, luxurious spaces, sophisticated care treatments, and absolute pleasure and well-being, the delightful new spa brings an added touch of glamour to the hotel and is only the third Givenchy spa in the world. Indulge in the Le Soin Noir Renaissance Integrale Signature treatment. Lasting for 120 minutes and priced at 400 Euros, the exceptional treatment begins with a discovery of scents in the Givenchy range. Using the Le Soin Noir collection, Givenchy’s most precious of all skincare line, the face and body treatment comprises of a stress-releasing back massage and precise facial which even incorporates rejuvenating cryotherapy. After, freshen up the skin at the in-spa beauty counter. Dedicated therapists use Givenchy’s wide make-up range to finish the skin and ensure you leave the spa feeling refreshed and picture-perfect ready for your next appointment. Once you have made the most of the spa and its heat therapy suite, complete with a sauna, hammam, caldarium, ice fountain and sensory showers, you can relax by the pool. Carefully designed by Karl Lagerfeld, the heated sea-water pool, terrace, restaurant Joël Robuchon and gardens sit against a photographic fresco backdrop that replicates portraits of Greek heroes. Lagerfeld has recreated the Journey of Ulysses through a stunning 18 paneled 20m x 3m mural showcasing an array of muses adorned in Grecian togas, which he designed specifically. The modern images of the models have been superimposed onto original photography from Lagerfeld’s archives taken of the Greek coastline between the 1850’s and 1860’s. The intimate lighting and exclusive design together create a unique poolside location, enabling an atmosphere of serenity and a level of privacy akin to a private villa within the centre of Monte-Carlo. Back inside the hotel and 126 rooms and suites are lavishly decorated in Mediterranean style with comfort and natural light of most importance. With a natural palette of warm gold and ivory tones, the 64 suites come complete with separate sitting-rooms and a balcony for the bedroom. PERFECT FOR YOUR PALATE
Pop from the Past aqua shard has launched an innovative new cocktail menu called ‘Pop from the Past’. Taking influence from the original ‘Club Cocktails’ - the first bottled cocktails which appeared at the beginning of the 20th century – the new menu comprises of 4 fun bottled serves. Each Pop from the Past cocktail combines tea and gin, and is served over a large stamped block of ice from individual glass bottles sporting playful, vintage-inspired labels. From Manuka & Sauvignon Blanc to Mint & Chocolate there is something for everyone. In particular the Mandarin & Lapsang has been created using Winston Churchill’s favourite tea, Lapsang, to give the cocktail its distinctive depth of flavour. The smoky flavours that form the base of the serve are balanced perfectly with sweet and seasonal mandarin juice, topped with Tanqueray No. TEN and sparkling wine. For something more refreshing the Apple & Cedro has been created using Cedro lemons, which are from the same family of Sorrento lemons used in Limoncello, and gives a refreshingly zesty flavour, without the sweetness of Limoncello. Mixed with Tanqueray No. TEN, fresh apple juice and anise tea, the carbonated cocktail goes down a treat while enjoying the incredible views over London. The menu is available now and each cocktail is priced at £18.

When we’re lucky enough to have the sun shine down on us so gloriously as it has been these past few weekends, its hard to ignore the allure of packing up a picnic and heading out to your local park to bask in its golden rays of warmth, or maybe even out to the garden to fire up the BBQ. But most importantly, what outdoor hamper is complete without some refreshing drinks to really make things perfect? This month, we’re talking great summer tipple ideas to make sure that you can have top quality beverages, even when you’re miles away from home. First of all, you’ll need to keep your fluids up, the best go to source for hydration is often the simplest, a little water. But water doesn’t have to be plain, you can infuse it with flavour by adding slices of your favourite fruit to give it a little zing. My personal water addition is a few slices of cucumber, it tastes great and helps you feel more refreshed. Citrus fruits like lemons and oranges work fine, but if you’re packing up a carafe of water for a trip, they can start to break down and make your water a little muggy. One idea is to first freeze your slices before adding them to your water, as this will help them to retain their shape and release their flavour over time as well as help keep your water cooler for longer. Talking of freezing your ingredients, one of the major issues with taking your drinks out into the sun is that they might not stay as chilly for too long. Freezing your fruit and using like a rudimentary ice pack is a great way to keep your liquids cold, just be sure to match your fruits to your flavours. A great example of this is some frozen grapes to help keep your wine nice and frosty. If frozen fruits wont work with your drink of choice, such as a lovely straight up cocktail, you could always freeze a little water in your vessel before adding your drink. About two fingers of water in a litre size glass water bottle will provide enough ice to keep @hoxtongin | hoxtongin.com
your drink cold for hours. Just seal the bottle and leave it on its side in the freezer. Just be sure that the water level is below your lid or else you want be able to fit anything inside. I’ll leave a recipe perfect for the London sun at the bottom for you to try! For those of us who still feel that the king of the BBQ booze is beer, why not sample some smoked beers to compliment the grill? There’s plenty available online or in your favourite local booze merchants, from Black Iris Brewerys “Bury Me In Smoke” to Londons very own Beavertown Brewerys “Smog Rocket” a wonderful smoked porter, there’s plenty of choice to find your perfect match.
London Sun For a 1 lire carafe - Serves 8: First freeze your ice inside the carafe, ensuring you have easy access to the opening | 300ml Hoxton Pink | 100ml Rose Wine 200ml Grapefruit Juice | 100ml Pineapple Juice | 8 Dashes Peach Bitters | Top with Soda

The Blue Boar Restaurant at the Conrad St. James
The entrance to the Blue Boar restaurant is located on Tothill Street in the heart of Westminster Village opposite St James’s Park tube station and a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace. Offering a sophisticated take on the traditional British pub, this little gem resides in the luxurious Conrad St. James hotel and is just moments away from some of the most iconic landmarks in London including the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben. Boasting a sophisticated and spacious interior with high ceilings, sleek furnishing (including private booths) and low lighting which complements the eye-catching contemporary art adorning the walls, this is the perfect place to get away from the busy outside world and a place where you can enjoy an excellent meal with excellent wine choices from a floor to ceiling wine wall. Head Chef Michael Riordan has created a superb menu which is essentially British and celebrates the very best of what each British season brings to the table. Combining fresh, regional ingredients such as freshly caught seafood from Devon and Cornwall and farm sourced succulent meats, the choice is mouth-watering. To celebrate spring, a new initiative, ‘’aSpiRING Chefs’’ at the Blue Boar, has been specially created in the kitchen by junior chefs whereby, under the watchful eye of Michael Riordan, they have been allowed to design an Impressive seasonal menu. This inspiring approach has allowed them to learn and develop their careers by expanding their skills and techniques giving them the ability to show off their culinary flair. Their passion and excitement at such a challenge has fired up an obvious enthusiasm in the visually stunning and delicious dishes they have lovingly created. Starters such as cannelloni squid ink crisp, mango jelly, avocado radish and chilli coriander or Scottish salmon with vodka dill cure, orange, smoked almonds, quail eggs & Avruga caviar look too good to eat and the taste and flavours complement each other so well.
Mains include a twenty-one-day aged British rib eye steak or a whopping four hundred and fifty-four-gram Porterhouse steak from the Josper grill – it’s best to pre-order that. All come accompanied with triple cooked chips, portobello mushroom, sweet vine cherry tomatoes and watercress and your choice of peppercorn, hollandaise or béarnaise Sauce. Of course, there are various other main dishes to choose from such as spring chicken with pancetta wrapped cacciatore style peppers and Italian sausage or Yorkshire lamb with a herb mustard crust and aubergine ravioli with courgette ribbon, ratatouille, heritage cherry tomato, pine nuts and goat’s cheese. For dessert, the Granny Smith apple mousse, steeped blackberries and English cider sorbet is perfect for cleansing your palette or you can opt for a selection of British cheeses. If this menu appeals to you, you will have to be quick as it is only available until 15th June. However, there is an à la carte menu with the afore mentioned steaks and lots of other equally exciting dishes on offer.

Porsche Embraces the Digital Age Offering a unique insight into the world of Porsche, the marque brought its innovative spark to London’s iconic Harrods last month. The Porsche Life pop-up showcased current and future road car innovations, in what is the 70th year of the German marque. It also celebrated the latest Porsche Design products from the exclusive lifestyle brand - including the new Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS, a unique and breathtaking high-performance luxury smartphone.
Delivering automotive and consumer product arms under one roof provided onlookers with the opportunity to delve deeper into the manufacturer than ever before and really understand the company’s determination to innovate and develop for the future. The centrepiece of the display was a large, third scale model of the historic Mission E giving a sneak preview to onlookers of the impressive battery electric sports car. In line with the Harrods pop-up, Porsche unveiled the ‘Mission porsche.com
P a n a m e r a 4 E - Hy b r i d S p o rt t u r i s m o to the Porsche philosophy of offering customers the most sporting and technically sophisticated model in the market segment. As is the Porsche tradition, it will also combine outstanding driving performance with trendsetting everyday usability. For now however, we will have to settle for E Augmented Reality’ app which enables users to bring it fully to life, offering a virtual experience today of the Porsche technology of tomorrow. As part of a collaboration with Google, Porsche has developed the AR app which allows the user to digitally discover the technical secrets of the car. The concept can be virtually placed in a room, and the AR provides animations that simulate the vehicle’s aerodynamics. X-ray views bring the drivetrain and battery technologies to life, by glimpsing through the lightweight body. It is even possible - via the app - to embark on a test drive using AR in the interactive driving mode. This is a world first offering a true look into the future of a production vehicle. On sale by the end of the decade, the Porsche Mission E concept will become reality. The Mission E concept car celebrated its premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) in September 2015, and was given the green-light for production shortly after. The four-door sports car will offer a system power output of over 600 hp this allowing it to achieve acceleration of 0 to 62 mph in under 3.5 seconds and offer a range of more than 500 kilometres. The lithium-ion batteries stored within the floor are charged via a specially-developed 800 Volt charger, which can reintroduce 80 per cent of the range after just 15 minutes. In addition, the vehicle can optionally be 'refuelled' wirelessly by induction via a coil set into the garage floor. Fully living up to the expression of 'E-Performance', the Mission E remains true
the current hybrid offering which, in itself is pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering. Debuting at last years Geneva Motor Show, the Panamera Sport Turismo expanded the family line with a striking new body version. Of course, keen to continue their incredible work with hybrid technology, it was only fitting that there would be an E-Hybrid option included in the line-up - making up 60% of all new Panamera sales in Europe. Porsche in fact offered up two hybrid options in the shape of the 4 E-Hybrid and the pinnacle Turbo S E-Hybrid which boasts a staggering 0-62mph time of just 3.4 seconds thanks to its combined power of 680hp. The work Porsche have put in to developing their hybrid system has paid dividends in the production results and is only set to get better as both the technology improves and customer awareness grows. There is only one way the automotive industry is moving thanks to changes in legislation and restrictions being placed on emissions, and Porsche have got the jump on the rest thanks to their continued engagement in motorsport offering up the foresight in developing hybrid and electric technologies. Combining the impressive power of a 3.0-litre V6 combustion engine and the intuitive and immediate responsiveness of a 136 hp electric motor, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo produces a staggering combined torque of 700 Nm and 462 hp of power delivering a 0 to 62 mph time of just 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 170 mph. this cars best feature. With the ability to utilise a whole host of drive options thanks to the hybrid system, the 4 E-Hybrid produces a CO² figure of just 59g/km and a fuel consumption of a quite remarkable 108.6 mpg. Yes, you can buy a high performance Porsche that will deliver over 100 mpg. The hybrid system allows you to designate where, when and how the electric and combustion systems are used with six different drive options, meaning you can drive entirely electric, recharge the battery or use the whole power of the combined hybrid system to its full potential. What this means in the real world is a fully electric vehicle for your trip to the shop, an efficient way to commute to work and a comfortable, responsive sports car for the weekend. Following years of development, taking lead from the marque's successful race team, Porsche's hybrid system offers one of the best packages on the road and certainly the most effective way of transporting 5 people in luxurious comfort with the smallest environmental impact and that's not all. The Panamera Sport Turismo brings a new, sleek design to the executive saloon model line and it completely transforms this cars appeal. An extended roofline with additional rear spoiler provide a sportier profile whilst increasing interior space and striking rear light clusters distinguish it further from the standard model. The continued wide profile and instantly recognisable front end synonymous with the brand make you fully aware that this is a Porsche, but this car's unique styling adds a new dimension to the lineup. A truly unique luxury GT offering that not only delivers in style and comfort, but has a range that competes with the very best. Few cars in the luxury market can offer such an all-encompassing package. There is always a sacrifice, whether it be in efficiency, design, performance, comfort or functionality, but this car appears to have conquered them all and it is largely down to the hybrid system that this has been possible. Unlike current fully electric cars in the market, this has the benefit of self charging which allows you to travel fully electric whilst having the ability to continue your journey when you run out of battery. This incredible system offers multifaceted benefits that combat the issues many other cars and manufacturers have to endure. Not only boosting range thanks to the fully electric option, but reducing emissions and increasing performance at the same time, it is the answer to so many questions currently being asked of the automotive industry and a small window into the world we can expect over the coming years. A perfect middle ground between electric and fossil fuel that manages not to sacrifice one for the other, rather use eachother to enhance every aspect. porsche.com
MOTORING It's not all about how far you can drive though, how you get there is also important, and this is by no means lacking in the comfort and quality departments. A sumptuous leather interior is supported by a functional, stylish and intuitive interface complete with tactile touch buttons and a sleek integrated infotainment system. This modern design is the perfect accompaniment to the cars sleek exterior, continuing the stylish aesthetic throughout - again, something many cars lack today. Finished to the level of quality Porsche have come to be known for in materials that nod to the brands forwardthinking design department, this really is the complete package. If you want to dip your toe into tomorrows world, you won't find many better options than this.

Last of the True Mini's 1998 Mini Cooper 1275 GT
There are few cars that reach the dizzying heights of iconic prowess that the Mini Cooper achieved through its 41 year lifespan. Instantly recognised across the globe as a 1960's British icon, the Mini remained in production until 2000 despite struggling sales before its modern revival under BMW in 2001. Its distinctive twodoor design with transverse engine and front-wheel drive layout allowed for the majority of the cars floorplan to be utilised for passenger and luggage space, maximising comfort in the smallest possible package. This 1998 example offers the final Mark VII version of the original two-door Mini in classic red coachwork with tan interior. Boasting a 1,275cc engine - the standard unit launched in the Mark VI versions in 1990 to replace the discontinued 998cc engine - this Mini packs the perfect balance between performance and
efficiency, and with just 48,000 miles showing, it has plenty of life left in it. Twin point injection with front-mounted radiator were also introduced in '96 with the updated Mark VII along with fullwidth dashboard and driver's side airbag to the interior. Despite substantial sales throughout its 40 year production, you won't find many original Mini's in such good condition that its owner will be willing to part with. This car comes with a very substantial service file and original owners hand books with a whole host of recent works showing and is an excellent, high end example of this icon. With many rooms this property lends itself to a large family home with up to 6 bedrooms or a substantial 4-bedroom house. The room sizes in this property are very generous with space to spread out. The house has benefited from recent refurbishment. You enter this home from the large porch and walk into a tasteful period hallway which features the original plaster cornice block work. There are two separate lounge reception rooms both with fantastic feature fireplaces and a formal dining room that will accommodate a large table for entertaining with views out to the rear garden. There is also a stunning Custom Designed Ream fully fitted kitchen which features a superb Corian worksurface which extends to the breakfast area. The kitchen has been custom made to suit this property. There is also a huge walk in pantry which will accommodate a large American style fridge freezer a full-size chest freezer and a large array of shelving. There is a separate utility room which has a sink unit, cupboards, plumbing for a washing machine as well as space for a tumble dryer. Still on the ground floor there is also a room currently used as a childs play room and a separate study with views over the swimming pool.
ÂŁ950,000 On the first floor there is a long landing with all four double bedrooms and the family bathroom leading off this. The principle bedroom has a large stylish dressing room leading off of it as well as a separate en-suite bathroom which also incorporates a walk-in shower, jacuzzi bath and a twin basin facility. To the rear of this property is a level, wide and long plot that features numerous plants and shrubs as well as a wide patio that extends to the width of the house. There is also a large outdoor swimming pool, ideal for those hot summer days and a large conservatory to relax in. To the front of the property is a large in and out shingle driveway with plenty of space for off road parking as well as an attached garage. The property has gas central heating, double glazed windows and external doors and has been recently repainted externally. This property is ideal for commuting and is within a short drive to junction 3 of the M2 which provides good access by car to London and the Kent Coast. The London coach services for commuters picks up and drops off on this road making a London commute easy. From Rochester and Chatham stations there is also the fast Javelin train service to Stratford and St Pancras. Within the area is also a good selection of schools including Grammar schools. Tunbury Primary School is only a very short walk away.

SAVILLS
What’s Been Happening in the Auction Room? with Chris Coleman-Smith, Head of Savills Auctions
Savills London & National Auctions ended 2017 having sold over 1000 properties and raising more than £325m with an average success rate of 76%. Against a backdrop of political and economic uncertainty, last year’s auction market proved to be relatively robust and as a team, we achieved some terrific sales including various multi-million pound lots. Thanks to the diversity of our catalogue taking in ground rents, land, mixed use properties and owner occupier homes, sales values ranged from £150 to over £7m which in turn, drew in a cross section of buyers. Building on last year’s results, our February and March sales totalled at £56m and £43m respectively and included several high value sales. The latter was 7% up on our March 2017 auction which, when put in context of the wider market, is a positive sign for the year ahead. Realistic pricing continues to be a key industry theme and one of the main drivers in achieving a sale. Working with our vendors to manage their expectations on value and set sensible pricing has greatly contributed to our success rates over the past year. Where sellers have recognised this, properties at all levels have transacted well and it’s message that we continue to impart to clients for our sales that lie ahead. The beauty of auction is in its diverse buyer profile as the spread of lots on offer means that there really is something for all. While in the past, the auction room has largely comprised developers and investors, today owner occupiers account for a significant proportion of purchasers at each sale. Buyers are more clued up than ever about the property market and have often undertaken considerable research before auction day. The enhanced media profile for the industry has meant buying a home under the hammer continues to increase in popularity. Yet within this pool of buyers, there’s those seeking a first home – often in value neighbourhoods on the capital’s outskirts – as well as others looking to trade up the ladder to a family property in a well-established residential area. In both our February and March sales, flats and houses falling into the £275,000 - £375,000 price bracket were popular with the former including a Tooting end of
terrace which sold for £374k and a maisonette in Palmers Green which went for £286k. Meanwhile across south-west London, properties requiring modernisation in sought-after postcodes have gone under the gavel to those wanting a home to live in. Reflecting on the year so far, what’s been apparent is the sense of positivity in the room and confidence amongst buyers at all levels of the market. Pricing realism will continue to be a key component in the success rates of our five remaining auction dates of 2018. As ever, we anticipate that lots in emerging locations and with the opportunity to add value will have strong appeal while a breadth of stock will attract a wide range of buyers to the room.
