THE POWER OF INSTINCT
Diver X Following the success of the Diver X Skeleton in blue which was a rapid sell out upon its release in 2021, Ulysse Nardin is relaunching 175 new pieces in black Carbonium® with an audacious choice of flashy yellow rubber strap and a black ‘R’ strap made of upcycled fishing nets. This cutting edge evolution of the existing Diver X collection retains its sporty appeal while taking a radical step towards transparency. As the new hero watch of the Diver collection, the Diver X Skeleton model is an explosive amalgamation of the design of a Diver and the technical prowess of the Blast collection. It is a volcanic bonding of beauty and brains. The Diver X Skeleton Black is designed to withstand the potential pressures that exist at depths of 200 meters and is equipped with a black Carbonium® concave unidirectional rotating bezel and domed sapphire glass. To bring the Diver X Skeleton model to life, the engineering team has completely redesigned the UN 372 movement, which is visible through the 44mm case. Originally designed for the Blast Skeleton collection, it has been improved with the addition of an oscillating weight in the shape of the Ulysse Nardin’s iconic “X”. There is also a barrel cover placed at 12 o’clock in black Carbonium®, which is the same as the bezel.
The desire to keep the dial interface of the Diver X Skeleton in the shape of the “X” was one of the most technical and complex developments ever undertaken by Ulysse Nardin. The hour indexes had to be secretly connected to the dial so they appear to float. To achieve the sensation of depth, overlaid layers were used to emphasise the tiered construction of the central “X”. Different levels of finish were also employed to create a play of light, amplified by the transparency of the skeleton movement. The case, sandblasted on the sides with satin lugs, has been coated in black DLC while yellow details, such as the hour markers and the internal lines of Ulysse Nardin’s signature “X” add vibrant explosions of colour and emphasise the model’s sports origins. Black Carbonium® is an extremely lightweight aerospace material used for the fuselage and wings of contemporary aircraft and among the most robust and durable materials ever developed by scientists. Thanks to the manufacturing process using “waste” materials, it has a 40% lower environmental impact than other carbon. It is created using a complex process which involves subjecting carbon fibres which have a diameter of only 7µm to high pressure and temperature conditions causing the fibres to form a pattern that is unique to each watch.

T i ta n i u m B at h ys c a p h e T i m e p i e c e The renowned Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe series welcomes two new editions. The Quantième Complet model, a red gold version with a blue-gradient dial; and a titanium version with an anthracite dial. Through their distinct styles, these new models bring together two emblematic Blancpain universes, the sporting DNA of its famous Fifty Fathoms diver’s watch and its traditional complete calendar with moon phases. The Bathyscaphe was created in 1956 with the aim of offering a diver’s watch whose size would make it suitable for everyday wear. It is one of the mainstays of the Fifty Fathoms collection. It has evolved over the years and was reinterpreted by Blancpain in 2013 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms. Combining sporty features with day of the week, month and date indications, the Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet model reinforces the principle of everyday utility that gave rise to the first Bathyscaphe. The information on the dial is complemented by a moon phase positioned in a large window at 6 o’clock. As usual, Blancpain has taken care to protect the 6654.P self-winding
movement of this Bathyscaphe by equipping its date mechanism with a security system. This enables the owner of the watch to handle each indication at any time, without any risk to the movement, unlike the usual calendar watches. Measuring 43mm in diameter and water-resistant to approximately 300m, the new Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet in grade 23 titanium is distinguished by subtle shades of grey. Its sunburst anthracite dial is enhanced by gold hour-markers, rhodium-plated hands and moon. The likewise anthracite ceramic bezel is satin-brushed for a resolutely contemporary matt effect and bears a graduated Liquidmetal™ scale. The gold rotor of the titanium model has been given an anthracite NAC coating instilling a sporty and dynamic vibe. The Bathyscaphe Quantième Complet watch in red gold is available with a blue NATO or sailcloth strap, with the latter option also offering a choice between a pin buckle and a folding clasp. The titanium model comes with a titanium bracelet or a grey NATO or sailcloth strap.

SPINNAKER
HASS X MCS Spinnaker has launched a unique collaboration timepiece in aid of, and in conjunction with, the Marine Conservation Society. The Marine Conservation Society is a UK based charity dedicated to education, advocacy and action to protect the ocean. Released on 8th June - World Ocean Day - the Spinnaker Hass is also a tribute to the life and work of noted Austrian marine biologist, documentarian and diving pioneer, Hans Hass. The two available colourways are inspired by the natural palettes found across the depths of the ocean, crafted solidly and with intent as being sturdy, robust dive watches. The Hass is capable of diving to 300m, with a solid stainless steel case, topped with a dual register countdown and time elapsed timer bezel. With a scratch resistant sapphire lens, the watch displays the detailed carefully finished dial. The index and hands are also coated with generous layers of Swiss Super-LumiNova for better visibility in lower light conditions. A Japanese automatic, TMI NH16 movement with a
custom ‘roulette’ style date wheel provides an enduring, robust timekeeping engine for the watch. While staying firmly in place thanks to a choice of solid stainless steel bracelet or a rPet (recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate) nylon Nato strap that is fabricated from recycled discarded plastic. The packaging is crafted out of recyclable, bio-degradable card printed out of non-toxic dyes. Throughout the design of the Hass and its packaging, the watch has been considered to be an operating, wearable reminder of the sustainability, long life, recyclability, and circular economy possible and necessary to preserve the health and integrity of the ocean. The Spinnaker Hass is a limited edition timepiece with only 500 of each colourway being produced. Each is uniquely numbered and the sales of each watch go towards the funding of work undertaken by the Marine Conservation Society for a cleaner, better protected, healthier ocean. To find out more about the Marine Conservation Society’s vital work to protect our seas, please visit the charity’s website: mcsuk.org.

SEASTRONG DIVER 300 HERITAGE The 2022 edition of the Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage embodies everything Alpina stands for: an athletic feel powered by stateof-the-art technology and vintage undertones in step with its heritage, inspired by the 10 Seastrong, the brand’s very first Super Compressor. This new watch stars something of a first for the Maison, too: a green face paired with an original green rubber strap. Thanks to its two screw-down crowns, the latest addition to the family stands out as the ultimate automatic dive watch, measuring 42mm across and water-resistant up to 300 metres. It’s safe to say that the historic design has withstood the ebbs and flows of trends and fashions, with the recent Seastrong watches now firmly rooted on the shores of the present day. In 2016, Alpina launched its Seastrong Diver Heritage range in a tribute to the design. So much more than a replica, the series was a fresh take on a vintage classic. Now, the Maison has unveiled its latest riff on a firm favourite, this time all decked out in green, making it without a doubt the most contemporary of the last few editions of Alpina’s iconic diver. For this version, Alpina have opted for all-over green, from dial to strap. Generally a mainstay of pilots’ watches, green is rarely associated with diver’s watches. This year, Alpina decided to wander off the beaten path with a shade symbolic of underwater life and
biodiversity: a tribute to the ocean, Earth’s largest ecosystem. A glossy, radiant finish scatters light evenly across the face in a glow reminiscent of sunshine reflecting off the surface of the water. This mirror-shine effect serves to further enhance the different shades of green used while improving clarity of the hour and minute hands - a crucial feature for any diver’s watch. It also features a trio of large hands to ensure the Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage is functional and genuinely usable in action. Each of the three hands is luminous, and the minute hand is topped with a generous arrow pointing up to indices that glow just as brightly, making sure that divers are never left guessing just how long they’ve been in the water. Immersion times are calculated using the Seastrong Diver 300 Heritage’s black bi-directional rehaut, which can be adjusted using the upper crown positioned at the two o’clock mark. The timer can be set for dives of up to 60 minutes. Positioned opposite the minute hand, it instantly counts time spent under water, or any other timespan divers may like to work with, such as remaining oxygen time or decompression limits. The second crown is set above the four o’clock mark and can be used to change the time. These two screw-down crowns prevent any mishaps when handling the watch once the time and rehaut have been set.

DIVER BROWN BRONZE Bell & Ross has always taken on the element of water, giving the brand a true underwater expertise. The first Bell & Ross diving watch, the Hydromax appeared in 1997. Housed in a round case, the watch achieved a record in waterproofing, able to take depths of 11,100m. 2007 saw a new diving watch housed in the BR 02 barrel-shaped case, and came equipped with a helium valve. In 2017, a completely new collection of diving watches was launched: the Diver. This tool was intended for professional divers. Now, the BR 03-92 Diver Brown Bronze is unveiled. The watch is imbued with the classic Bell & Ross identity. It borrows the iconic BR 01’s rounded square case, but in a waterproof underwater version. This design feature is the watchmaker’s interpretation of a fighter plane dashboard. Absolutely unique in appearance, the BR 0392 Diver Brown Bronze is almost peerless. Diving watches are usually housed in a round case; the BR 03-92 Diver’s unusual silhouette gives it a distinctive personality. This is a watch that will seduce design enthusiasts and seasoned divers alike. At Bell & Ross, the Diver series was originally launched in steel. Now, bronze joins the family. The traditional material’s copper hue case goes perfectly with the warm colour of the dial and bezel proving itself a harmonious match for brown. This classic, historic material has always had links with the sea, making it an instinctive choice for a diver’s watch. Bronze is a key material in maritime design: portholes, propellers, pendulums, sextants, compasses, and old ships all make use of the metal. Its use in the BR 03-92 Diver gives the timepiece a hint of retro. It is also the material used by the Nautilus of Captain Nemo, the hero in Jules Vernes’ novels. Bronze surfs the vintage wave. bellross.com
Bronze acquires a patina over time, depending on its environment. It is a living material that evolves and corrodes. The process is different each time, and causes the metal to be fixed, solidified, strengthened. Historically, sailors allowed bronze to evolve naturally: once oxidised, it was protected from external factors. Admirers of bronze appreciate its colour, which is reminiscent of gold. The alloy used for the BR 03-92 Diver Brown Bronze is CuSn8, composed of 92% copper and 8% tin, giving it a rose hue. Over time, the evolution of the case will make each of the limited 999 models unique in appearance. The entire BR 03-92 Diver Brown Bronze case is adorned with bronze. The only exceptions are the hypoallergenic stainless steel back and anodised aluminium bezel. The back is stamped with a diver’s helmet, a historical symbol of scuba diving. The watch comes with two straps. The matt brown leather strap with beige topstitching has a strong neo-retro feel that reinforces the BR 03-92 Diver Brown Bronze’s vintage, authentic spirit. A second black braided rubber strap is also available, which is more suitable for underwater use. The underwater world is a universe that’s as dangerous as it is fascinating. When diving, time becomes a vital dimension. The mechanical diving watch is therefore of paramount importance. It is a safety tool, assisting divers under all circumstances. It especially takes over when the electronic tools of today fail and fall short. The new BR 03-92 Diver Brown Bronze is a true underwater tool, responding to the exact specifications of the Swiss diving watch. It is resistant to blows, thermal shocks and salt water, and complies with the international standard ISO 6425. A precision tool, the BR 03-92 Diver Brown Bronze accompanies divers as they take on the abyss of the depths.
YOUR WATCH Bringing a redesign of its sporty sea watch, Breitling’s new SuperOcean collection retraces the pared-down aesthetic of the original SuperOcean Slow Motion from the 1960s and 1970s, while adding modern features and a bright palette of colour. Plus, it’s no longer strictly a dive watch - surf with it, swim with it, hit the beach bar with it. In the 1960s, the emerging sport of scuba diving was all the rage, inspired by the adventures of ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau. In diving, timing was everything - measured almost exclusively in minutes - and Breitling wanted to not only provide the best tool watch for the task, but to give it a sense of style. To create this early SuperOcean, Breitling’s designers eliminated any superfluous features that didn’t support the lifesaving needs of divers underwater. A high-contrast dial ring was introduced to the crucial minutes scale. Out went subtle indexes in favour of chunky luminescent batons for easy readability. And, in the boldest move of all, Breitling did away with the seconds hand, since divers didn’t really need it. In its place came a revolutionary minutes-based chronograph, dubbed the “Slow Motion” because it took an hour to make a full rotation of the dial. Today, the new Superocean returns to the Slow Motion’s simplified tool-watch philosophy. Available in four sizes (46, 44, 42,
different case metals - steel, steel-gold, and bronze. The special alloy used in the 44 and 42 mm bronze versions has an excellent resistance to corrosion but will still develop a subtle patina over time that makes the watch even more unique. The two strap options (a sporty rubber strap and a new three-row metal bracelet) have a folding clasp that allows for micro-adjustments of up to 15mm for easy wear over rashies and dive suits. Aside from looking good, the new Superocean is also a technical marvel. Water-resistant to 300m, it features broad hands and indexes coated in Super-LumiNova® that allow for exceptional readability underwater. Its scratchproof ceramicinlayed bezel means it will never wear or fade. For safety, the bezel is unidirectional on most sizes and bidirectional with a patented lock on the 46mm. This watch is also shock, sand, and saltwater resistant. Its automatic Breitling Caliber 17 comes with a two-year warranty and an approximate 38-hour power reserve. Best of all, the Slow Motion’s distinctive square minute hand has made a comeback. So has the high-contrast minute scale. Fans will also remember “the dot,” a circular window at 6 o’clock that displayed different colours depending on whether the minutesbased chronograph was engaged, paused, or off. In the new Superocean, a circle near the tip of the second hand gives a wink

Rose Flower
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the beautiful floral creation Decades ago, Yves Piaget, a man of contrasts and taste, as passionate about the arts as he is about craftsmanship and excellence, had the great honour of gathering not only his friends, but the entire Piaget Society around his art, around a rose. Now, celebrating the very special 40th anniversary of the Yves Piaget rose flower creation, the Maison is presenting three new sets of novelties that let the Piaget rose’s pure beauty and audacity shine through, combining Piaget’s gold craftsmanship with coloured gemstones handpicked by their designers and gemmologists. As a firework of extravaganza, the Rose gold set, composed of an original ear cuff porté, a ring and a unique piece necklace, contrast with the other two sets inspired by the delicate changing
colours of Yves Piaget’s garden. However, Piaget does not stop the expression of this fascination in its jewellery creations but continues the exploration in the world of watchmaking by unveiling a new addition to the Altiplano collection. Seeking beauty in its floral engravings, this watch is the ultimate expression of Piaget innovation and design. It took more than two years to develop the rose bracelet, made from one of the most delicate materials in the world: real flower petals. The Altiplano Tourbillon Rose in white gold is an ultrathin timeless watch for those who like to adorn their wrists with style, joyfulness and mastery. The Piaget Rose 40th Anniversary Collection will be launching this September. piaget.com

ATHENA GIRALEA
COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE
WISDOM Athena Giralea at Harvey Nichols, 109-125 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7RJ | cosmeticacupunturewisdom.com
YOUR BEAUTY
Top Cosmetic Acupuncturist Athena Giralea launched her cosmetic face and body acupuncture treatments in April this year at luxury London department store, Harvey Nichols. Combining traditional Chinese acupuncture practices with innovative Western age-supporting skincare solutions, Athena delivers a unique, non-invasive, holistic approach that promotes skin regeneration and wellbeing for both mind and body. As we get older, our skin cell turnover slows down and collagen production decreases. Cosmetic Acupuncture stimulates collagen production for firmer skin and reduced wrinkles. It’s especially suitable for those of us with sensitive skin. In addition, it also addresses hormonal imbalances caused by the stress of modern life. With cosmetic acupuncture, you will get rejuvenated skin that’s healthy inside and out. Athena’s research led approach combined with years of experience works to influence the health and texture
of the skin as she expertly expands the traditional acupuncture points by placing the needles directly into wrinkles, scars and pigmentation. An overall improvement in the complexion and skin luminosity due to increased blood flow is achieved and this in turn can activate the body’s own natural healing responses. This relaxing, restorative treatment promises holistic regeneration, inside and out, eliminating mental and physical exhaustion and effecting hormone release to heal the entire body and improve the quality of sleep. As Athena says, ‘’my treatments result in not only a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and a lifting, toning and plumping of the skin, but they also benefit the mind and improve the entire body’s state of wellbeing’’. Athena’s signature treatment at Harvey Nichols, consists of an in-depth consultation covering everything from a detailed medical history to lifestyle and health goals so she can curate a personalised treatment that will address the client’s needs fully. The treatment starts with cleansing the skin to prepare for the face, neck and ears for needling. Clients will then enjoy a targeted LED face light therapy followed by a sheet mask, whilst Athena needles the body and legs and massages the hands and feet for a truly relaxing experience. The needles will then be removed, and skincare applied and massaged into the skin for up to 10 minutes to ensure the deepest penetration for the active ingredients; promoting healing and targeting any ageing concerns, lack of tone or puffiness. This all-in-one, in-depth face and body treatment will make you look and feel great, and you can expect a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and toned skin that looks positively radiant with little or no downtime. Medical microneedling is a skin rejuvenating treatment to treat skin laxity and Athena offers this as supplementary service to the Cosmetic Acupuncture Treatment. It works by creating pinpoint punctures in the dermis of the skin to trigger the skin’s natural healing process and generate new collagen and elastin- the key building blocks of the skin that naturally depletes with age.

Not to be missed beneath the cliffs on the west side of Antalya and extending towards the Taurus mountains in the west, Konyaalti Variant is the spectacular viewpoint of the famous Konyaalti Beach where you can also admire various other beaches including sandy and shingle ones. About an hour’s drive from NG Phaselis Bay, Antalya is a city full of ancient history with its yacht filled old harbour and remnants of its time as a major Roman port; one of these being Hadrian’s Gate which was built to honour the emperor during his visit in 130 A.D and is the only remaining entrance gate in the City walls that surround the old town and historical harbour. A visit to the second century Hirdirlik Tower allows you to enjoy spectacular harbour views. It is Turkey’s biggest international sea resort and is famous for the Lycian way which is Turkey’s longest trekking trail covering the entire coastline and includes ancient and historical sites dating from the Lycian empire. Most of Antalya’s buildings can be found along the narrow, winding streets of the Old Quarter in Kaleiçi. Meaning ‘Inside the Kale’ or ‘Inner Kale’ Kaleiçi is the historic city centre of Antalya and it has many structures dating from the Roman, Byzantine, Sejuk, Ottoman and modern Turkish republican eras. Until modern times, almost the entire city was confined within its walls +90 444 36 64 | ngphaselisbay.com
YOUR TRAVEL Another popular attraction is the Düden Waterfalls which sit at the end of the Düden river and winds its way through the Taurus mountains before falling off the end of a cliff into a valley next to the Mediterranean. The fall consists of two cascades and the upper fall is nearly fifteen meters tall and twenty meters wide while the lower Düden waterfall is the highest at thirty metres. Ancient graves dating back to the third century BC were built near here. Also worth a visit is Demre, a province on Turkey’s Mediterranean coastline. Known as Myra in Lycian times and in the province of Antalya, Myra has some of the most impressive and well-preserved ruins in all of Turkey. The site is located 2 kilometres outside Demre city centre. The home of Saint Nicholas of Myra, the original Santa Clause, the Ancient City of Myra was once the capital city of the Lycian people and became a very important place of pilgrimage and is now one of Turkey’s most visited attractions. The church of St.Nicholas lies just outside the main square in Demre and is now the St. Nicholas Museum. Myra lies 1.5 kilometres inland from the modern farming town of Demre. The city sits at the base of a sheer cliff face where ornate tombs have been built into the rock and high above, on the clifftop is a ruined Byzantine castle. The impressive site boasts thick defensive walls as well as a largely
restored amphitheatre and the Lion's tomb, or Painted tomb, with 11 life-sized figures depicted on the inside walls. Large rocks with extensive carvings of animals and grotesque faces lay scattered about the site. Many of the tombs have log cabin features carved into the rock, representing the architecture of the period they were created. Several also have inscriptions in the Lycian language. There is also a well-preserved Greco-Roman theatre, which like many other Roman theatres, was later turned into an arena for gladiator and animal shows. Like the rock tombs, inscriptions are still visible inside the theatre. There are also cavernous tunnels, access ways, intact seating and a partly collapsed stage. A perfect way to round off the tour is to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then take a boat tour to Kekova Island where you can sail around the bay and learn all about the sunken city of Simena. You can also take the opportunity to have a swim or do a bit of snorkelling. If total relaxation with perhaps a desire to explore the history of this beautiful part of the world is what you are looking for, then the NG Phaselis Lifestyle Resort is for you. True to their motto, ‘See, Feel, Love’, you will no doubt want to return over and over again.

INGREDIENTS Serves Six People 1kg Frozen Peas 1 Bunch Mint 3 Litres Water Cooking Liquor Salt to Taste 250g Whole Almonds 30ml Almond Oil
5g Sea Salt 600g Fresh Peas 1 Bunch Fresh Mint 200ml Rapeseed Oil English Goats Curd Espelette Pepper Garden Herbs and Flowers
FOR THE PEA SOUP Put the water into a heavy bottomed sauce pan and season to taste with the salt. Add half of the mint and infuse for 1 minute before removing from the water. Add the peas and cook for 4 minutes. Pass out the peas and reserve the water. Add the peas to a food processor and blend until smooth, adding the cooking liquor to the desired consistency. Pass the soup through a fine chinois in to a container over ice, infuse with the other half of the mint and chill as fast as possible. Once cold season to taste.
FOR THE ALMONDS Dress the almonds with the salt and almond oil. Cook at 170˚C until golden brown (this should take around 8 minutes). Reserve for service.

TO SERVE Add the soup to your serving bowl and add a quenelle of the goat’s curd. Season with the espelette pepper and the almonds. Dress the split peas with the mint oil and a little salt, then place around the bowl. Garnish this on top with the freshly picked mint leaves and some seasonal garden flowers. Heat the soup as quick as you can and then serve on the side to be poured at the table. Enjoy!

ROSÉ
Rosé Tinted Glass It's time to enjoy the summer with a fresh selection of rosé, whether you're after something traditional, or a little out of the ordinary, there is something for everyone. Looking to the future, Château Galoupet, a progressive wine estate, is challenging the status quo of rosé wine drinking through its first of its kind eco packaging solution: an amber eco-glass bottle and a flat, ultra-light recyclable Prevented Ocean Plastic bottle a radical new format for the rosé wine category. This Côtes de Provence estate in organic conversion is committed to crafting exceptional wines using the unique terroir of Provence in the most
respectful way to the environment and has unveiled two new rosé expressions: Château Galoupet Cru Classé Rosé 2021 and Galoupet Nomad 2021. Re-discovered in May 2019, the Château Galoupet estate has been on the map since the 18th century with a history rich in the biodiversity and unique ecosystem of the 77 hectares of protected woodland and 69 hectares of vineyards, which has been nurtured over the past 3 years. Château Galoupet Cru Classé Rosé 2021 is presented in a 70% recycled amber glass bottle, weighing just 499g, in comparison to an average bottle of Rosé weighing 770g. Crafted from 100% owned grapes, Château Galoupet Cru Classé is a pure terroir wine. An intricate and layered creation working with Grenache, Rolle, Syrah and intensely aromatic Tibouren. Minerality meets creaminess, grapefruit zest gives way to peachiness on a long, sinuous journey to a fine saline finish. This rich, naturally aromatic palette of Provence is crafted with a blend of grapes from unique terroirs - land characterised by wild bushes full of arbutus, the untamed salinity of the sea and the powerful surrounding winds.

YOUR PALATE For those looking to enjoy the flavours of rosé without the alcohol, Wild Idol is on hand. Following two years of patient searching to find the perfect ingredients - the expert team of winemakers travelled the globe to find the most skilled producers, grapes and technology to realise the vision for creating a truly authentic, non-alcoholic wine experience. The grapes are carefully chosen for their clean, naturally fruitforward flavours and aromatic character. Dornfelder, Merlot and Müller-Thurgau varietals feature in the 2020/2021 vintages, which were found in the famed winemaking region of southwest Germany.
Produced using the same carefully considered techniques and patient craftsmanship found in traditional winemaking. However, unlike alcoholic wine or ‘de-alcoholised’ non-alcoholic alternatives, Wild Idol’s grapes do not undergo a process of fermentation. Vibrant, handcrafted, and naturally alcohol free, Wild Idol Sparkling Rosé is a beautiful twilight pink in the glass, with delicate bubbles and abundant in fresh, aromatic fruit notes. For something a little more traditional, you can't argue with the signature of Château Minuty, the "Or" range. The result of meticulous plot work, these vintages are distinguished by their naturalness and the immediate pleasure they give. An estate wine, first appearing in 2009 as the makers wanted to take the winery’s signature subtle flavour and intense aromas to the next level. To make the dream © Quentin Pastor a reality, the winery’s three main terroirs were expertly blended to capture the Château Minuty flavour in Rose et Or. This vintage is all about elegance; the aromas of sun-drenched and freshly-picked ripe fruit ranging from vine peach and pear to melon. It’s full and crisp on the palate, powerful yet pure like flavoured spring water. Serve cold (8-10°) in summer and chilled (10-12°) the rest of the year. The Rosé et Or vintage’s delicacy and body mean it goes with a wide variety of dishes as it brings out the spices. Perfect to accompany some fresh seafood on a beautiful sunny day.
ROSÉ WITH A TWIST One of the world’s only Rosa tequilas, Código 1530's Rosa Blanco is a deliciously light and floral drink perfect for a little summer libation. COMITÉ CHAMPAGNE

Ice Cream Champagne THE PERFECT SUMMER PAIRING July is National Ice Cream Month so let’s celebrate all things frozen! You may be pleasantly surprised to discover that Demi-Sec and Rosé Champagnes pair beautifully with ice cream. Comité Champagne - the trade association that represents Champagne Houses and independent Champagne producers has revealed a useful guide to chilling and serving Champagne; as
well as suggestions for the best ice cream pairings to serve at your summer BBQ or picnic. For some, Champagne is known more as a prelude to the main event at a party, or alongside hors d’oeuvres. Why not be adventurous this July and focus on pairing your Champagne postmain course with a tantalizing bowl of ice cream?
To find out more about Champagne visit champagne.fr or enrol at champagne-mooc.com
YOUR PALATE Before we look at ice cream, here’s a guide to impressing your friends and serving perfectly chilled Champagne: Chilling Your Champagne The best temperature to serve Champagne is between 6 and 8°c. For convenience when outdoor dining, the best and quickest way to chill a bottle is to get an ice bucket and fill it with equal measures of water and ice plus a healthy dash of table salt. Flute or Tulip? Today, the ideal glass for Champagne is high and bulging enough to allow the bubbles to evolve, but narrower at the top (tulip-shaped) to concentrate the aromas, similar to a wine glass. To appreciate Champagne at its best, choosing the right glass is important, but you must also take care to fill the glasses to a maximum of two-thirds, to be able to smell the aromas, and serve at the right temperature. Open and Serve Champagne Like a Pro To open a bottle of Champagne, take the foil off, untwist the wire cage, keep your thumb firmly on the cork, and twist the bottle (not the cork) anticlockwise.
For those with a sweet tooth, who enjoy snacks such as ice cream and cookies, a sweeter style of Champagne such as Demi-Sec should be your go-to. Demi-Sec may be a lesserknown style but it is rapidly growing in popularity. Interestingly, the sweeter the Champagne, the better the freshness. The sweeter styles maintain the wine’s signature freshness and acidity. Demi-Sec is a Champagne that holds
more sugars than Brut Champagne, which is why it works synonymously with desserts, making it the ideal Champagne for National Ice Cream Month. Likewise, Rosé is also a great partner for ice cream. Champagne lovers are quickly switching over to the Rosé side as they realise the different sweet pairings this wine has to offer.
Here are some delicious Champagne and ice cream pairings to enjoy during National Ice Cream Month: Vanilla - Luscious vanilla ice cream goes very well with a semi-sweet Champagne, but it’s also an excellent blank canvas for the toppings of your dreams. Strawberry - Strawberry ice cream pairs beautifully with Rosé Champagne. Not only do these two look great together, but notes of fresh berries complement the ice cream. Pistachio - This light and nutty ice cream creates a dream team with a slightly sweet demi-sec. Salted Caramel - Not that there was any doubt, but the reason salted caramel is so fantastic is that sea salt does wonders to balance out the sweetness of the caramel. The only way to improve this already wonderful flavour is with a glass of demi-sec bubbles. Cookies and Cream - A big favourite among ice creams fans, in this case three’s company when it’s paired with Champagne. Berry Sorbet - Finally, for a lighter option, berry sorbet is a refreshing treat that is almost just as good as ice cream and partners beautifully with demi-sec Champagne.

ROAD RACER Truly pure driving experiences are hard to come by in todays production automotive market, with technology taking centre stage. However, if you look in the right places, you might just find something a little bit special. Putting the driving first, Porsche's little gem is raw driving pleasure.
AUDI SQ5
AUDI'S SLEEK SUV The German marque's SUV staple Q5 adds some sporting style and extra performance in the effortlessly versatile SQ5 Sportback. Combining family-friendly functionality with sophisticated technology and a coupé-like silhouette, this sporty all-rounder has it all.
Joining the ever expanding line up in the Audi stable, the SQ5 Sportback adds to the crossover utility vehicle (CUV) family. With dynamic coupé lines and sporty engineering under the bonnet, this athletic car has an appeal that stretches across market segments. Topping the Q5 line, the SQ5 Sportback TDI packs a 3.0-litre V6 engine offering a concentrated power of 341 PS and impressive 700 Nm of torque. What that means on the road is a swift acceleration - considering its size and weight - from zero to sixtytwo of 5.1 seconds, a limited top speed of 155 mph, and some serious pulling power should you need to transport anything either in the car or behind it. In line with its performance figures, the SQ5 Sportback exudes
a powerful presence thanks to its sporting aesthetics. Large air inlets flank the octagonal grille combined with slender headlights showing their distinctive daytime running light signature LED or optional Matrix LED technology. A long, continuous, elegantly sweeping shoulder line runs the length of the car, emphasising the wheels and with that, the iconic quattro all-wheel drive which is a key feature of the SQ5. The obvious design feature which distinguishes this car from the rest of the Q5 range is the low, sweeping roof-line and high sill which gives the appearance of a much slimmer vehicle than it actually is, adding to the aggressive, wide stance and athletic visual cues. audi.co.uk
YOUR DRIVE
Thanks to that elegant roof-line, the rear windscreen adopts a sharply sloped appearance in line with an equally stark taper on the rear third window and apparently high rear bumper, further adding to this car's dynamic athleticism. Despite all of these 'slimming' design features, the SQ5 Sportback continues to offer excellent luggage space with a volume of 510 litres available in the rear, increasing to a vast 1,480 litres when loaded to the roof with the rear seats folded down. You can also opt for the new rear seat bench plus, which can be shifted laterally and has adjustable seat back angles which expands the volume of the luggage compartment in the base configuration by up to 60 litres while simultaneously enhancing comfort for the rear-seat passengers when the seat back and seating surface are set all the way back. All of which makes for an incredibly comfortable and versatile vehicle ideal for transporting both passengers and luggage alike. A remote, foot controlled tailgate makes things even easier

when packing up the car with your hands full. Of course, if you're planning on filling your SQ5 Sportback to the rafters, it's important to know that the suspension has what it takes to support all of that extra weight. Thankfully, it is able to not only handle the additional weight, but also the performance of that powerful diesel drive when unladen with supreme ease. Fivelink suspensions direct each of the four wheels which are 20-inch with 255/45 tires are standard, with 21-inch wheels from Audi or Audi Sport GmbH available as an alternative. Supported by six-piston brake calipers made of aluminium and brake disks with a large 375 mm diameter on the front axle, the SQ5 Sportback is perfectly poised for dynamic driving. The S sport suspension with damper control lowers the body by 30 mm compared with the standard Q5 Sportback and offers an especially wide scope between comfort and dynamism when required.
AUDI SQ5
A multitude of additional features combine on the SQ5 Sportback compared to the Q5 variant to support all of that additional power and performance. The fast, smooth eight-speed tiptronic is one such feature, handling the power of the S model ensuring it's always ready. Paired with the ever impressive quattro permanent all-wheel drive which transfers the torque variably as required between the front and rear axles, the system can be supplemented with a sports differential which will actively adjust the distribution of the torque between the rear wheels when driving in a more dynamic manner providing more to the outside wheel which has better grip to allow for even more agility when cornering at speed. It also promotes swifter acceleration out of corners. Along with the optional sport differential, engine, steering and the automatic transmission, the controlled dampers are integrated in the standard Audi drive select dynamic handling system, which allows the driver to manage the character of all of these systems via six profiles. A seventh profile - allroad - is added if the adaptive air suspension with S-specific tuning is on board - adapting the
body’s ride height to the driving situation at the time. The dynamism that the SQ5 Sportback affords is more akin to a vehicle of much smaller stature and thanks to clever engine technologies, manages to maintain reduced fuel consumption while enhancing response. A 48 V mild hybrid system (MHEV) recovers up to 8 kW of power when decelerating, with the electricity from the lithium-ion battery allowing the car to coast for up to 40 seconds with the engine off, after which the belt-driven starteralternator comfortably restarts the engine. Another building block in the 48 V network is the electric powered compressor (EPC). When moving off and accelerating from low rotational speeds, it accelerates the build-up of the boost pressure and ensures that the 3.0 TDI responds spontaneously. Audi also employs the twin dosing technology with two SCR catalytic converters for the aftertreatment of the exhaust gas. The first of these catalytic converters lies directly behind the manifold in the exhaust line and serves as a particulate filter at the same time; the second is located away from the engine under the vehicle floor. With the two catalytic converters, different operating audi.co.uk

situations and a wide temperature window for the exhaust gas can be covered. Thanks to the twin dosing technology, the SQ5 Sportback TDI also comes in well below the limits set by the new Euro 6d ISC-FCM emission standard. Ride and comfort are key in order to enjoy all of these other features and thankfully, the well appointed interior space that has become a mainstay for Audi is ever present. Designed in black or dark gray colours, a choice of three upholstery options for the electrically adjustable sport seats complete with embossed S logos are available. Contrasting stitching adorns the seats and the steering wheel with a massage function and seat ventilation available on request - a must to enjoy comfort over the hotter months. Brushed aluminum is standard for the inlays, but alternatives including two carbon designs and a piano finish are available to bring a little extra sophistication or sportiness to the interior space. And the illuminated aluminium door sill trims are decorated with S logos to complete the aesthetic. For the controls, displays and infotainment, the SQ5 Sportback features the third-generation modular infotainment system or MIB 3. When fully equipped, the digital Audi virtual cockpit plus with 12.3-inch display and a head-up display are also on board. The multifunction steering wheel plus enables the safe and simple operation of the most important functions and displays. The MMI navigation plus infotainment system is paired with
the swarm intelligence of the Audi fleet for functions that include alerting drivers to hazards. It is also equipped with numerous driver assist systems. Adaptive cruise assist takes over accelerating, decelerating and keeping in lane in many situations with the driver only having to touch the capacitive steering wheel to maintain lateral guidance. A second high-tech system is the predictive efficiency assist, which supports a predictive driving style. Turn assist, swerve assist, cross-traffic assist and exit warning systems also enhance safety. The standard Audi pre sense city system helps to avoid or mitigate the consequences of collisions with road users in front of the car.

1957 Bentley S1 Continental £POA
RARE BREED BENTLEY Built from 1955-59, the S1 was Bentley's last separate-chassis model, derived from the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Powered by a silky-smooth 4.9-litre straight-six, it was both longer and lower than the R-type predecessor, adding improvements to ride quality and braking. When the chassis-only Continental specification became available, it provided buyers with the opportunity to enjoy a lighter and more powerful S1 with coachbuilt bodies by the likes
of James Young, H.J. Mulliner & Co, and Park Ward. This 1957 example is courtesy of the exceptional work from James Young. One of just thirteen James Young bodied S1 Continental right-hand drive cars to be built to Design No. CT29 - and reportedly one of only four built in 1957 - this car was purchased whilst on display at the Earls Court Motor Show by Sir Brian Mountain of the Eagle Star Insurance Company. Following the purchase, the car was serviced and maintained by Jack Barclay - owners of James Young at the time - throughout Mountain's tenure with period records showing all works carried out. Offered in its stunning original specification, and in excellent order, it is supremely smooth to drive. Presented in Silver coachwork with grey leather interior, aluminium bodied, full-length sunroof and power steering. There are receipts for £14,679 in 2004 for chassis overhaul, brakes, wheel cylinders and strip-down of fuel and coolant systems followed by further receipts of £7,471 from 2005 including stripping and re-lacquering all wood trim, new headlining, new ignition switch and radio rebuilt. There are also invoices for new rear dampers, an overhaul of lighting systems, carburettor rebuild and new fuel pumps. This beautiful car drives and presents very well, it has its original leather interior and original full-length sunroof and is a very rare example not to be missed.

PORSCHE 718 CAYMAN GT4
You will struggle to find many performance production vehicles available on the market today that can deliver a raw driving experience, largely due to the shift in transmission use to an almost exclusively automatic offering - often with the coinciding paddleshift option. However, every now and again, someone comes up with something that does just that, and more often than not, it comes from Porsche's athletic stable. The 718 family is the perfect place to find such a machine and the latest 718 Cayman GT4 brings a traditional automotive ethos very much up to date. The purity of its character appeals to sports car enthusiasts who delight in unadulterated driving pleasure and appreciate an incredibly high level of agility as well as an almost intimate proximity to its power.

Adopting the perfectly balanced mid-engined layout, both the 718 Spyder and Cayman GT4 share a technically identical base for the first time ever. Included in this is the incredible, newly developed 4.0-litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, paired with an engaging six-speed manual gearbox. At the heart, the 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine - which is based on the same engine family as the turbocharged motors in the current 911 Carrera model series - is a high-revving powerplant which generates 420 PS - 35 PS more than the previous GT4 and a peak torque of 420 Nm available between 5,000 and 6,800 rpm. What makes this car somewhat unique in today's market is that manual gearbox that is capable of breaking the 300 km/h (186mph) barrier. The 718 Cayman GT4 can reach a top speed of

The dynamism and driver focused feel of this car delivers an exhilarating experience every time you take to the driver seat. A true driving experience supported by the enthralling character of its naturally aspirated engine which combines a modern gasoline particulate filter emission control system with the linear power delivery and the immediate response of a GT engine. It has a maximum engine speed of 8,000 rpm and the unparalleled boxer sound remains untouched. It's not all traditional engineering however as new technology additions such as a start-stop functionality and adaptive cylinder control feature. During low load operation, it temporarily
interrupts the injection process in one of the two cylinder banks, thus reducing fuel consumption similar to that now found across the VW Group. Piezo injectors are used for direct fuel injection for the first time ever in a high-revving engine, splitting each injection process into up to five individual injections in order to support a complete, and therefore emissions-friendly, combustion process. While a variable intake system with two resonance valves ensures optimum gas exchange in the cylinders. With such a performance focussed machine, you want to make sure it looks as good as it performs and if anyone can craft an attractive yet aggressive sportscar, it is Porsche. Providing a number of striking features, the 718 Cayman GT4 has a

PORSCHE 718 CAYMAN GT4 comprehensively improved aerodynamics package. Producing up to 50 per cent more downforce, without adversely affecting drag, the aerodynamics benefit enormously from the newly designed single-chamber arch rear silencer, creating space in the rear section for a functional diffuser, which accounts for a good 30 per cent of the downforce on the rear axle. The fixed rear wing is also marked out by its greater efficiency, producing around 20 per cent more downforce compared with its predecessor. The front section, which is optimised in the GT style, maintains aerodynamic balance with a large front spoiler lip and so-called air curtains. The latter calming the airflow around the front wheels. Every aspect of this car is precision engineered to deliver superior cornering dynamics and provide a thrilling driving experience whether you're driving or in the passenger seat. Its further refined lightweight spring-strut front and rear axles make use of racing technology with the direct connection to the chassis partially by means of ball joints. The Porsche active suspension management damping system with 30 mm lower suspension lowers the centre of gravity and improves lateral dynamics. It is specifically designed for use on the racetrack and sharpens the handling characteristics
even further. The Porsche Stability Management (PSM) operates with even greater sensitivity and precision on the GT4, but there is the option to deactivate it in two steps. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) and a mechanical limited slip differential further enhance longitudinal and lateral dynamics, cornering performance and driving pleasure with the added option of a Clubsport package, which includes a rear steel roll bar, a hand-held fire extinguisher and a six-point seatbelt on the driver’s side to complete your 'racecar on the road'. With all that performance, you need to be sure you can stop on asking. The high-performance braking system provides consistent braking that’s suitable for track driving thanks to large aluminium monobloc fixed-calliper brakes with Porsche ceramic composite brakes also available as an optional extra, so you can rest assured it will respond when required. One additional feature are ultrahigh-performance tyres, specially adapted by Porsche which are partly the reason the 718 Cayman GT4 is able to fly around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, breaking new records - its lap time on the legendary 20.6 km racetrack was 12 seconds faster than its predecessor.
YOUR DRIVE Despite being a performance, driving focussed machine, it is also a 'GT' and as such delivers some comforts when driving. The luxurious interior cabin is finished with plush materials and a sporty design including contrast stitching and function free steering wheel balancing comfort with style and focus. If you're in the market for an everyday driver, this probably isn't going to be at the top of your list, however, if you are on the search for a true drivers car with a purity rare to find in modern machines that is just as comfortable on the road as tearing around a track, then you will struggle to find something more suited to your needs than this absolute monster. The raw driving pleasure it produces the second you set off is second to none and something you will enjoy every time you get behind the wheel, whether that's at a track day or heading off for a weekend drive in the country. Performance and style are squeezed in to this relatively small package in a way unlike anything else you'll find on the road and if you're not sure it's the car for you, simply arrange a test drive and after a matter of seconds, you will find yourself asking just one question...which colour am I going to choose?

An Environmental Shift in London’s Property Market with Lucian Cook, Head of Residential Research, Savills
Over the last couple of years consumer attitudes towards the environment have shifted - in part thanks to the cleaner air and lower pollution levels experienced during the pandemic - causing many to consider how they can reduce their impact on rising emissions. Against a backdrop of rising fuel prices, and the future ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars (by 2030), electric car sales have been flying. Lucian Cook, head of residential research at Savills, details how attitudes have changed and what this means for the price of homes across London.
The combined number of electric (BEVs), plug-in hybrid (PHEVs) and other ultra-low emission vehicles on Britain’s roads has increased by 176 per cent over the past two years. The ownership and of election and low emission vehicles is by far the greatest in London, with those owning cars while living in the city more than two and a half times as likely to own a low emissions vehicle than a car owner across the rest of the UK. Around 38% of privately registered low emissions vehicles are in London and the South East. As result, the public charging infrastructure is most developed here.
Savills London | 020 7499 8644 | savills.co.uk
SAVILLS

In fact, Westminster, the City of London, Kensington and Chelsea and Camden account for 6% of all private car registrations, which is more than six times the national average. But even in London there is quite a wide variation in the availability of places to charge your vehicle. Despite being neighbouring affluent boroughs with high levels of plug in hybrid and electric vehicle ownership, there are 2.5 electric cars per charging point in Westminster vs 6.3 in Camden. Barnet, Westminster and Wandsworth are home to the most private owned ULEVs in London, whereas areas with lower average house prices, including Barking and Dagenham, Hackney and Sutton see the lowest levels of ownership. As fuel prices surge, more Britons will be considering the switch over to a hybrid, or a fully electric vehicle, quicker than previously planned. As the gap between demand for ULEVs and public charging points grows in London, access to private charging points will be even more critical. As a result we can expect to see the premium for off-road parking to grow.
The Gables is an exquisite five bedroom, double fronted detached Edwardian family home with truly stunning views over the much acclaimed Lake Grounds of the St Margarets Pleasure Gardens and close to a particularly scenic stretch of The River Thames. . Guide Price Already £5,500,000 buyers are paying more for the luxury of having a driveway in outer London with homes +4.7% more expensive than the average, and 33% more expensive in prime central London. Whereas the premium for having access to street parking has increased to +6.1% in both prime central London and outer London (up from +3.2% and -1.9% in Q4 2019 respectively). This is likely to only increase until we see a more comprehensive rollout of public charging points and investment in the capacity of the grid so that it can keep up with demand.

PROPERTY MARKET NEWS www.docklandspropertyblog.com
July 2022
19.6% of Docklands property sellers reduce their asking prices as the property market starts to return to equilibrium • 483 of the 2,463 properties on the market in the Docklands area have had a price reduction in the last 3 months. • The average reduction has been 5.3% of the original asking price.
Hello
I started my property career working for an independent estate agent in the Wapping area. Since 1994 I have been based in and around East London. I started my own company in 1995 and it has grown from humble beginnings to become a well respected sales, lettings and property management agency operating in the Docklands and East London areas. Then in 2007, I opened my first branch in the Medway area. I am proud that we now have three branches in Kent. My operation is set to expand in 2020 and beyond. I am a long term member of both the NAEA and ARLA and a former Regional Representative for the latter. As the owner of a growing residential and commercial property portfolio, I understand well the trials and tribulations that property owners go through. I have well over 20 years experience of regenerative Dock’s areas and specialise in new development reporting. I am happy to advise you on all aspects of property. So, if you are looking at your first buy-to-let (even if it is with another agency), or have trouble with a tenant, feel free to contact me. I offer honest and impartial advice.
Spencer Fortag
• This is great news for Docklands home buyers and Docklands buy-to-let landlords, strangely Docklands house sellers as well. The last couple of years of the Docklands property market has seen some amazing prices being achieved with multiple offers and many properties selling for way over the asking price. Yet, as I have been writing about the Docklands property market over the last few weeks, the tide is beginning to turn, and the pendulum swing more towards a balanced Docklands property market as more homeowners in the Docklands area (E14) have been reducing their asking prices.
Of the 2,463 properties for sale in the Docklands area, 483 have been reduced in price in the last 3 months. This can be broken down as follows…
So why is this important and why is this good news, even for Docklands house sellers?
Property industry statistics show that 5 out of 6 house sellers will buy another property and over 80% of those sellers will move up the property ladder. When you move up the property ladder, that normally means you pay more for the one you want to move to (that’s why it’s called the property ladder). So, whilst you won’t be getting as much for yours as you might have done earlier in the year, you won’t have to pay as much for the one you want to buy (and the price difference between the two properties will be smaller – meaning you will end up saving money because of these reductions). Therefore, what is the level of reduction being seen in the Docklands property market?
The average percentage of the price reduction in the Docklands area has been 5.3%. I must stress house prices/values in Docklands haven’t dropped 5.3%, just the asking prices of some of the properties on the market. This is good news for Docklands firsttime buyers and landlords, as they will be more likely to buy a property at a more reasonable price. Whilst, as I explained above, this is also good news for sellers as most of them will end up paying less for the higher priced property they end up buying after selling theirs. So, what should Docklands homeowners be aware of if they are selling their home now or in the future? Continued on page 2
Continued from page 1 For me, it is important that I inform all Docklands property owners of the real story. This enables them to judge for themselves where they stand in the current Docklands property market, thus enabling them to make better informed decisions.
You see some Docklands estate agents will deliberately over inflate the suggested initial asking price to the house seller, because it gives them a bigger chance to secure the property on that agent’s book, as opposed to a competitor. This practice is called overvaluing. Now of course, each Docklands homeowner wants to get the most for their Docklands home, yet some estate agents know this and prey on those Docklands house sellers. You might ask, what is the problem with that? Well, you only get one opportunity at hitting the Docklands property market as a new property. Everybody has access to the internet, social media and the four main property portals (Rightmove, Boomin, On The Market, Zoopla), and your potential buyers will know the property market like the back of their hand.
If you have a 2-bed Docklands semi that is on the market for a 3-bed Docklands semi-detached house price ... those Docklands buyers will ignore you. Your Docklands property will stick on the market as your potential buyers keep seeing your property on the portals each week. These buyers will then start to believe there is something wrong with your property and dismiss it even further. That is until you, as the house seller, reduce your asking price. The issue is that sometimes these buyers will think something is wrong with your home and could bid you down even further,
meaning you will get less even though you asked for more! (This was backed up by some research done by Which?). Now according to research by Denton House, the average British house buyer only views around six properties before buying – so please don’t assume viewers will come round your optimistically priced (i.e. overvalued) Docklands home, thinking they will knock you down – quite the opposite – they just won’t view your home in the first place.
And you know that because I bet you have done the same yourself when searching for property. So, all I suggest is this ... be realistic with your asking price to start with. Do that and you will sell your Docklands property at a decent price to a decent buyer ... first time, every time – enabling you to move onto the next chapter of your life. If you know of anyone currently selling their home in the Docklands area and finding things difficult, please share this article with them as it could be of interest. One place for more information is my Docklands Property Market blog. If you are a landlord or thinking of becoming one for the first time, and you want to read more articles like this about the Docklands property market together with regular postings on what I consider the best buy to let deals in the Docklands area, then it is well worth reading. The Shifting Docklands Property Market • The Docklands property market is on the verge of a ‘tipping point’. • The rate of house price growth has started to ease with a reduction in the number of properties that will sell in Docklands in the coming 12 to 18 months.
