WATCHES
Four New Radiomir in Green A mandatory matt look, discreet and intentionally elusive in its design. Rigorously monochrome, because it is specifically designed to merge into the surrounding background, whatever it is, blending with its shades. It is therefore strategic. Tendencies of the dark green in its most powerful and material expression, historically strategic and immediately recognised. To the extent of throwing off the most general definition of its colour and assuming the very specific definition of military green. Panerai has chosen this identifying colour for the dial of the four new Radiomir watches, reinforcing their strong historic identity. Four interpretations, unequivocally individual in their functions, dimensions and the materials of which they are made, but conceptually connected by a common visual code of recognition as well as by the aesthetic language of the Radiomir case, with its characteristic cushion shape and integrated lugs, solidly constructed and representative of the “evolved” Radiomir of the 1940s. This was the period when Panerai came into prominence as the sole supplier of wristwatches to the Royal Italian Navy; timepieces which were specially developed with the essential functions required of the precision instruments designed to be used by its commandos. This latent military background, is now declined in a civilian context, with three models with cases 45 mm in diameter, made of AISI 316L steel, and one model with a black sandblasted ceramic case 48 mm in diameter. In these watches the dense, nonreflective green colour becomes an element that expresses both a connection and a unique quality, as do the sapphire glass with
its marked convexity, the beige shade of the luminescence and the Italian tanned natural leather strap. A historic heritage which has been perfectly capitalised and expressed. Sharing the same uniform, the new Radiomir with a green dial stand out from a mechanical point of view with a wide range of calibres, all entirely executed by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. The Radiomir - 45 mm (PAM00995) is fitted with the P.4000 calibre, Panerai’s thinnest automatic movement, and it has two hands and a small seconds hand. Then there is the P. 4001, a model developed to supply additional information such as a second time zone, am/pm indication and the power reserve displayed on the back; this is the movement fitted to the Radiomir GMT 45 mm (PAM00998). This mechanism was subsequently modified in the P. 4002 version, which shows the power reserve indicator on the dial, a feature unique to the Radiomir GMT Power Reserve - 45 mm (PAM00999). Each of the three automatic movements has a bi-directional off-centred micro-rotor in tungsten alloy and a power reserve of three days. The only one to have a handwound mechanical movement is the Radiomir - 48 mm, which is fitted with a P.3000 calibre indicating hours, minutes and small seconds. Water-resistant to 10 bar (a depth of about 100 metres) and presented in a box of satin-finished green cherry wood, the new Radiomir watches are supplied with a spare strap as well as the original one. In beige for the steel versions or black for the ceramic version, with two loops and functional reinforcing inserts in each of the holes in the green leather lining.

It goes without saying that Daniela Ryf ’s accomplishments have been spectacular: she is the reigning Ironman World Champion, having won four straight titles along with her four Ironman 70.3® World Championships in the last five years. The sport has enjoyed enormous popularity and the performance and endurance of its great competitors reflect Breitling’s values perfectly.” The IRONMAN® Triathlon Series offers athletes the opportunity to push themselves further than they ever thought possible by swimming 2.4 miles (3.8 kilometers), cycling 112 miles (180 kilometers), and running 26.2 miles (42.2 kilometers) en route to completing one of the world’s most challenging single-day endurance races and earning the coveted title of Ironman. the ultimate test of body, mind, and spirit for both professional and amateur athletes. The competition stages - swimming, cycling, and running - are activities that feature prominently in the lifestyles of Breitling’s core customer base: men and women of action, purpose, and style. It has a 44-millimeter stainless-steel case and a black dial featuring the unmistakable IRONMAN® logo. It is presented on a red Diver Pro III rubber strap with a pin buckle. Its ratcheted unidirectional rotating bezel is an essential feature for divers as it can be used to track the elapsed time underwater. The numerals, indexes, and hands are coated with SuperLumiNova®, a luminescent material that allows optimal readability in any lighting conditions. The COSC-certified chronometer has central hour, minute, and second hands. This self-winding watch is powered by a Breitling Caliber 17, an automatic mechanical movement that offers a power reserve of 38 hours. It is waterresistant to an incredible 100 bar (1000 meters). The Superocean Automatic 44 IRONMAN® Limited Edition has a caseback engraved with the IRONMAN® logo and the legend “ONE OF 300”, reflecting its coveted limited-edition status. The watch will be available exclusively on Breitling’s own e-commerce channel, in selected Breitling boutiques, and on site at the IRONMAN® 70.3® World Championship in Nice and IRONMAN® World Championship in Kailua-Kona. breitling.com

Masterpiece 2 Minute Repeater Resonance: Armin Strom Masterpiece 2 is a world first two-in-one Minute Repeater Resonance by Armin Strom, the world’s first and only resonance chiming wristwatch, offers two-in-one for double the pleasure. Two complications, resonance and minute repeater; two vertically-stacked independent movements; two forms of resonance (oscillators and sound propagation); two independent mainsprings in one barrel; and two top development teams in Armin Strom (resonance) and Le Cercle des Horlogers (repeaters). Inspired by the Bern’s centuries old chiming tower clock, the Minute Repeater Resonance is limited to just 10 pieces in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Armin Strom manufacture. Masterpiece 2 highlights both the phenomenon of resonance and the sonorous chiming of the time by placing all of the action up front and center dial side. Activated by a slider on the left side of the case band, two handpolished hammers at 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock respectively chime the hours and minutes on two three-dimensionally curved gongs encircling the hour/minute subdial. The hammers are visually and technically balanced by the two independent regulators - one for each of the two movements - at 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock. The case is in Grade 5 titanium for optimal sound transmission
(and comfort), and its 47.7 mm diameter allows for a generous volume for the sound to propagate from. The sonorous chimes are also enhanced by attaching the gongs directly to the case. A specially developed security system maximizes ease-of-use by protecting the minute repeater from accidental damage by blocking operation during time-setting and winding. Fully visible between the two oscillating balances is Armin Strom’s patented Resonance Clutch Spring - the key to Armin Strom’s mastery of resonance - and the result of three years of intensive research and development. While it has been long known that resonating coupled oscillators in watch and clock movements improves accuracy, less known is that resonance also conserves energy. Armin Strom’s laboratory testing has revealed gains in precision of 15-20%. Under a virtually invisible sapphire crystal dial, the dual balances oscillating in synchronization and the two hammers striking the time, the Minute Repeater Resonance stages an unparalleled horological spectacle for both the eyes and the ears. The Armin Strom Minute Repeater Resonance is a limited edition of 10 pieces in Grade 5 titanium in honor of the 10th anniversary of the manufacture. There will be no more editions.

Blancpain Air Command : rebirth of a legend The Blancpain Air Command chronograph belongs to the select circle of legendary watches whose very rareness exacerbates their appeal to collectors. While its creation remains something of a mystery and has generated a variety of stories, its military vocation is a certainty. Considered superior to that of other timepieces of this type, its design is likewise universally admired. Blancpain is now reissuing this legendary model in a 500-piece vintage style edition and the arrival of this major new model in the brand’s collections testifies to a little-known part of its history. In the early 1950s, the French Ministry of Defence was looking for a high-precision chronograph capable of meeting demanding specifications. The watch to be selected must have a black dial with luminous hour-markers and hands to maximise legibility. The movement must be equipped with a flyback function, as well as a small seconds hand. A few years later, other armed forces began looking for a similar instrument. Blancpain, which had already won over the American Navy with its Fifty Fathoms diver’s watch, drew inspiration from it to develop a chronograph for the United States Air Force. This timepiece was offered to American military pilots through the distributor Allen V. Tornek, for whom Blancpain is thought to have created a dozen watches as prototypes. The total production of Air Command chronographs was probably very limited. Renowned as the most sought-after military chronographs of the late 1950s, the Blancpain Air Command model has now been given a new lease of life. The 2019 edition exudes a style
that is singularly faithful to that of the original. In keeping with its forerunner, intended at the time for pilots of the most modern aircraft of the era, it is equipped with a ratcheted “countdown” rotating bezel. Once set before flight, this feature enables instantaneous reading of the exact time when the fuel reserve is no longer sufficient for the plane to continue its trajectory. The time scale of the bezel, as well as the dial hour-markers and hands, are made of “old radium” type Super-LumiNova®, reproducing the orange hue of the original chronograph indications. The model bears a 30-minute totaliser at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock, while a tachymeter scale running around the chapter ring indicates speeds based on a 1000-metre distance. In order to enhance the readability of the information and accentuate the majestic nature of this collector’s watch, Blancpain has improved the dial opening compared to the original model. The face of the new Air Command is protected by a sapphire box-type crystal, a distinctive characteristic of the watches from this period that also appears on the back of the watch - a first for Blancpain. The 42.5 mmdiameter steel case thus reveals a snailed movement notably graced with a contrasting propeller-shaped red gold oscillating weight. A legendary timepiece deserved an equally prestigious calibre. The new Blancpain Air Command is powered by the F388B movement, whose high frequency of 5 Hz is perfectly adapted to its functions, since it enables each second to be divided into tenth-ofa-second intervals. This high frequency ensures greater accuracy, especially when timing events. Another advantage of the F388B movement is a vertical clutch that provides the chronograph seconds hand with a smooth start, as well as optimally seamless stop and start functions.

With such a small group of fellow travellers, guests will be able to experience Antarctica on their own schedule. Lyons said, “Smaller groups allow for more intimate interactions with the natural and pristine environment; it is what expedition travel was originally meant to be. Fentimans Secret Spritz Garden In the middle of bustling Farringdon, hidden behind ivy covered walls and unknown to passers-by, lies the Fentimans Secret Spritz Garden. A hideaway filled with fragrant herbs, aromatic plants and Fentimans spritz cocktails; the Secret Spritz Garden will be unlocking its doors to curious Londoners for three weeks this August. Created by the botanical soft drink and mixer makers Fentimans, the Secret Spritz Garden is an oasis for after-work drinks and savoured weekend cocktails during the parched August days. Filled with medicinal herbs and plants, at the heart of the garden is a 200-year-old olive tree; providing a beautiful shaded spot to sit under, spritz in hand. As night falls, garlands of fairy lights will glimmer amid the greenery and mellow acoustic music and live jazz will float across the secret garden. While its origins lie in Italy, in recent years the crisp effervescence of the Spritz has become the go-to cocktail across London on hot summer days. Fentimans has worked with cocktail expert Dino Koletsas (The Langham, Bourne & Hollingsworth, Callooh Callay) to create a dedicated spritz menu designed to be enjoyed in the Secret Spritz Garden and to inspire Londoners to get creative with spritzmaking at home this August. The Spritz Garden menu will explore the full range of Fentimans tonics - from the sweet citrus of Valencian Orange to the candied notes of Pink Rhubarb – which will be complemented by homemade herbal infusions and liqueurs, fresh fruit and exquisite aperitifs. Guests will also be able to garnish their own spritzes with rosemary, sage and lavender, fresh from the garden, book onto spritz-making masterclasses to learn more about the origins of this summer favourite. Throughout the month, the Spritz Garden will play host to a series of masterclasses, including floristry, flower pressing, Limoncello making and collage workshops. The pop-up Secret Spritz Garden will be open from 7th August - 30th August from Wednesday to Saturday, including the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend. M E R E R E S TA U R A N T Located in the elegant surrounds of Charlotte Street, Mere is the first restaurant from husband and wife team, Monica and David Galetti. Mere, the name of Monica’s mother and pronounced Mary, is a melting pot of cultural influences; mixing the classical French of David’s childhood with the exotic South Pacific and New Zealand from Samoan-born Monica. A household name for her work on BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals, Monica spent 12 years in the two Michelin-starred kitchen, La Gavroche, rising to senior sous chef, then Head chef at Le Gavroche des tropiques in Mauritius before setting up Mere in 2017. The seasonal a la carte menu boasts only the finest in high quality produce and takes inspiration from the couple’s travel and Monica’s illustrious heritage. Highlights include the impossibly pretty soft shell crab with black curry, heirloom tomatoes and smoked lemon gel; veal sweetbread with glazed peas, Shimeji mushrooms and sweet chilli sauce; and scallops with aubergine, coconut, mild curry and Kaffir lime with crispy chicken skin for crunch. Moving on to mains and the roasted Cornish cod, artichokes, confit fennel, olives and dulse aioli sauce; and tender roast pigeon breast with braised leg, lardo, salt baked celeriac and Pedre Ximenez Sauce are not to be missed. For those saving themselves for something sweet, the Hokey Pokey comprising of Manjari cremeux, salted toffee, honeycomb
ice cream and L&P Gel (a sparkling lemonade from New Zealand) is wonderfully decadent yet balanced. Elsewhere, the poached peaches with elderflower posset, strawberry schnapps and lemon shortbread makes for a perfect summer dessert. There is also an artisan cheese board should you wish. Guests finding it hard to pick can also opt for the tasting menu to sample a range of dishes. Sommelier David has worked tirelessly to ensure the wine matches the food offering bringing both well known, and muchloved wines from Europe and around the world to Mere. After spending 15 years at Le Gavroche curating their wine list, he has also introduced a reserve selection with distinct and unique vintages, ensuring there is something to suit all palates and budgets. David has also carefully hand-selected the premium spirits and liqueurs on offer at Mere, predominantly from France and New Zealand. The stunning décor is elegant and welcoming, with crisp lines and a calm colour palette of rich blue and soft grey. Warming accents of deep yellow add interest to the plush leather sofas and dark marble tables. The main dining room lies in the large basement and is flooded with natural light thanks to a large glass atrium. With a further nod to Monica’s heritage, a traditional Samoan siapo or tapa cloth adorns the main dining room wall, designed and made especially for Mere by the artist and cousin of Monica, Solomon Daniel, in New Zealand.

FLAT IRON SPITALFIELDS The no reservation steak chain has extended their reach across London with a new location at Spitalfields. What makes this a little different to others is its deceptive front. Venture through the front door and you are welcomed into a spacious bar area ideal for a drink or two and designed to perfectly compliment its surroundings, however the dining area appears to be somewhat reserved considering this is supposedly a restaurant first and foremost. This is all part of the plan. Hidden around the corner is an inconspicuous doorway leading downstairs to another world. In the heat, this basement space offers the perfect restbite thanks to its position, remaining cool even during the hottest of days, you can escape the sun and indulge in a serious steak. Opt for the increasingly iconic ‘flat iron’ steak to enjoy a piece of what this restaurant does best, or sample one of the daily changing specials on offer with fresh cuts available that you might not have had the opportunity to try in other steak restaurants before. Whichever way you go with your meat, there is little doubt that chips should always be ordered alongside. Cooked to crispy, succulent perfection in beef dripping, there is no better accompaniment to your steak. If you feel that you should incorporate some greens into the mix, don’t fear as your steak will come with a fresh house salad, and if that’s not enough, simply add the exceedingly creamy and vastly over indulgent creamed spinach (a must if you ask anyone who’s tried it). Wash it all down with a suitably paired bottle of wine or one of the many other drinks options on offer including draft beers and some refreshing mocktails from the well appointed bar.
Once all is said and done with your main, there is only one way to end your meal. It requires some room, but is most certainly worth the effort. Warmed over an 1800’s cast iron stove housed within a brick inglenook fireplace in the downstairs ‘scullery’, hot toffee sauce bubbles away while you dine ready in wait to be poured over your freshly prepared sticky toffee pudding. No, you’re not dreaming, it is genuinely one of the best dessert experiences around and will undoubtedly be in high demand once the weather turns if not already.

CHAMPAGNE
From Vine to Wine THE MAGIC BEHIND THE MÉTHODE CHAMPENOISE With a new Prime Minister at our helm and a potential exit from the EU on the horizon, food origin and authenticity has never been more topical. As a nation, we are becoming ever more conscious of the products we consume - as we should - where they come from, what they are made of and how they are made. With this in mind, this is timely to shed light on the provenance journey of champagne from vine to wine, how the best sparkling wine in the world is created, and where it gets its sparkle…
Hand Picked
The First, Alcoholic Fermentation
In Champagne, all grapes are hand-picked, to ensure that they are harvested in full-clusters and the clear, golden must kept intact. Each year, in a region-wide coordinated operation, 100,000 pickers descend into the vineyards to delicately retrieve the most expensive grapes in the world. From the moment the grapes are picked, they make their way to pressing. Here, they are gently pressed, with gradually increasing pressure for a low juice extraction - limited by appellation to 25.5 hectolitres per 4,000kg. This is separated into fractions - the cuvée (used for wines with finesse, subtle aroma and good ageing potential) and the taille (for intensely aromatic, fruiter wines).
The primary, or alcoholic, fermentation of Champagne wine is - as you may have guessed - the process that transforms the grape juice (musts) into wine (voilà!). A little yeast is added, which consumes the natural grape sugars, producing alcohol and carbon dioxide (CO2) along with other by-products that contribute to the sensory characteristics of the wine. This takes place immediately after pressing, usually in stainless steel tanks, though some producers still ferment their wines the old fashioned way in oak casks. The entire process takes about two weeks.
The Purest Expression of the Fruit As the juice is extracted, it flows into open tanks - known locally as ‘belons’. Here, it is treated to inhibit unfriendly indigenous bacteria. Next is ‘débourbage’ (translated glamorously as ‘desludging’) where the solids such as particles of grape skin and pips are allowed to settle to the bottom of the juice and removed.
Blending Where the magic truly begins. There are three dimensions of blending - wines from different crus (villages), different years and from different grapes. In Champagne 7 grapes are authorised though Chardonnay, Meunier and Pinot Noir feature most heavily. By combining still wines with different sensory characteristics (colours, aromas, flavours) the Champagne maker looks to create a wine that is greater

COLUMN than the sum of its parts - one with a carefully balanced harmony of notes in which no one note is dominant. The ultimate objective is the same today as it has always been: to create a sense of balance that is not found naturally and could not exist without human intervention and yet reflect the terroir.
Méthode Champenoise - Capturing the Sparkle Most people have heard of the famous “Méthode Champenoise”. Originated in Champagne it has been much copied and adopted throughout the world without ever matching the finesse, elegance and unparalleled ‘fraîcheur’ of Champagne wines. In essence, this is defined by a secondary fermentation in the bottle. Bottle fermentation transforms still wine to sparkling wine - hence the name we have in champagne, prise de mousse, literally ‘capturing the sparkle’. This is accomplished by adding a mixture of sugar and yeast, called liqueur de tirage, to the still wines. This wine is then bottled and closed with a bottle cap or a cork. The yeast acts on the sugar and the resulting carbon dioxide - glorious golden bubbles - remain trapped in the bottle…
Maturation on lees Champagne wines can spend several decades ageing - there are currently 1.2 billion bottles in the Champagne cellars right now. By law, Non-Vintage Champagne must spend at least 15 months in the bottle before release, of which 12 months maturation on lees
is required. The minimum ageing on the lees for vintage cuvées is three years. In practice, most Champagne wines are cellared for much longer: 3-4 years for non-vintage wines and 4-10 years for vintage Champagne - a lot longer than for any other sparklings.
Riddling & Disgorgement Towards the end of their long resting period, the bottles must be rotated to loosen the sediments, yeast leftovers, using riddling aids. This used to be exclusively done by hand, and one riddler could riddle up to 180,000 bottles daily… This process causes the sediments to collect in the neck of the bottle in preparation for disgorgement: the ejecting of the sediments under pressure that then leaves the wine perfectly clear. Disgorgement is a critical point in the life of Champagne wine, the grand finale after many years of peaceful maturation on lees.
And Finally… Dosage & Corking ‘Dosage’ is the last step before corking. This is the addition of a small quantity of ‘liqueur de dosage’ to the wine - also known as the ‘liqueur d’expédition’ - which determines the style of the champagne (Brut, Demi-Sec etc). After dosage comes the corking, followed by ‘poignettage’ (vigorous shaking of the bottle) and ‘mirage’ (inspection to check the wine’s limpidity). The wine is then returned to the cellar to age in bottle for several months before release and being enjoyed around the world.

Two Seater V10 Powerhouse Quattro doesn’t come meaner than this...ok, maybe slightly thanks to the additional ‘Performance’ variant on offer. Regardless, there are few cars on the road capable of such mind-blowing cornering feats as the latest version of Audi’s iconic R8.
In today’s world, supercars come in a whole host of shapes and sizes, but there is no denying the eye catching design on the latest R8 Coupé. Maintaining the iconic contrast side vents and slender profile, the R8 continues to turn heads with its sharp, deliberate styling that give it an archetypical supercar aesthetic. There are no compromises when it comes to the R8’s design, it is built as a supercar to be driven as a supercar with little room for anything else...quite literally. A small space behind the two seats allows for some reserved storage while the space under the bonnet affords a single cabin bag and not much more. Needless to say, if you’re planning a weekend away, it pays to be a savvy packer, otherwise your passenger might not appreciate taking custody of the bags on their lap. Regardless, this car isn’t design for luggage capabilities which is abundantly clear thanks to the rear window which offers up a view into the engine bay and that incredible naturally aspirated V10 unit. Taking up the vast majority of the cars space, this 5.2-litre engine boasts a potent 562bhp and 560Nm of torque which will propel you from standing to sixty-two in a rather swift 3.4 seconds and continue to a speed topping over 200mph - if you can find a stretch of tarmac long enough to legally achieve it. Performance is at the heart of this range topping model with little in the way of distraction from the task at hand - driving. The latest R8 shares a whopping 50% of its components with the R8
LMS GT3 competition car, so there is no doubt that this is a car born to go fast and one that should not be taken lightly. Everything has received an update, from increases to the power and torque to changes to the suspension and steering to ensure this is as close to its race model counterpart as possible, and it shows. Precision comes in two parts with this car. The engineering and design deliver such a precise package that it is easy to understand why it is capable of these new heights, but equally, once behind the wheel, you instantly feel the precise nature of its performance. Whether accelerating, braking or cornering, everything is sharp, responsive and immediate, leaving very little to the imagination. This truly is a track car for the road - which does however have its downsides. Driving through London for example won’t necessarily be a pleasant experience, with the state of the roads and this cars updated suspension setup, comfort is somewhat sacrificed for performance. Completely understandable on a car that is designed with one thing in mind, but unfortunate nevertheless when considering when and where you might want to drive it. Venture out to the wider world and you will eat up the miles on motorways and have the opportunity to enjoy everything this incredible car has to offer on winding country roads as you slip into sport mode and go to work on the paddle shifters - just try and forget about the part where you have to eventually return to the city. audi.co.uk
YOUR DRIVE
Inside, the cockpit’s minimalist design incorporates all of the essentials in a clean, concise and stylish manner, taking the focus away from switchgear and buttons allowing your attention to remain on the road. Plush bucket seats do their best to offer up some remnants of additional comfort when driving around town while providing substantial support during all that open road dynamic driving. A neat trio of knob and button clusters appear to hang from the dashboard providing simple and easy access to the cars climate control systems and heated seats, while the centre console houses controls for the in-dash infotainment system. The Audi Virtual Cockpit delivers access to every option, app and system right in front of you. Adapting the dashboard display to accommodate whatever it is you might want to see, the virtual cockpit is the perfect place from which to view the sat-nav or cars performance while driving. Everything from fuel consumption to the Audi Drive Select options are available at the push of a button or via the intuitive voice control system. Number and letter input has also been made easier with the discreet touch pad incorporated into the selection disk in the centre console to make sat-nav use considerably simpler and less distracting. Simply write out the desired postcode and the clever technology will register each individual letter and number and input it into the system for you, then simply select the destination and away you go. Thanks to updates in the technology, you can also automatically include stop-offs on the go should you require a refuel.

AUDI R8 QUATTRO COUPE
Every aspect of this car is focussed on the driver and the road making it one of the most enjoyable driving experiences around, but more than anything, it is a breathtakingly stunning car. The updated front grille has been stretched even wider and the angular vents exagerrated further to create an even lower, wider and aggressive aesthetic which works perfectly with the incredibly cool LED headlights. It’s no different as you move down the side of the car to the rear. The R8’s iconic profile has been preserved with those deep set side vents providing more angular bodylines contrasting the sleek and slender side profile while the rear delivers nothing but evidence of this cars performance potential. The open grille allows a small insight into the inner workings of the car while the huge exhaust system makes itself well known both visually and aurally. Narrow light clusters complete the rear aesthetic with their sharp appearance and exciting display when starting up and indicating. Of course, there is one other exterior styling feature that is possibly the most important for any onlookers. That window into the engine bay complete with vents offers up one of the best views of this car. While still a functional rear window allowing the driver a view behind them while driving, it has been clearly designed to function as an aesthetic tool in equal measure and you won’t find many people complaining. There are of course a number of options to enhance the appearance further when buying your R8 and even more so if you opt for the R8 Performance Quattro. Reducing the zero to sixty-two time to just 3.1 seconds and increasing the top speed to 205mph, the Performance variant receives a whole
host of changes including ceramic brakes and the addition of a fixed rear spoiler, while the alloy wheels increase from the already large 19” option to 20” variants adding to the sporty, aggressive appearance. This is a car that could be painted any colour under the sun and it would look good regardless, the design is such that it would be almost impossible to make it look bad, a feat that is very rare in the car world. There are of course some exceptions when it comes to pairing your chosen exterior colour to the interior. In today’s market with such flexibilty in what you can do to make your car unique, it is very easy to get carried away with potentially outlandish options that might well look good for a week, but soon after, you realise that the fashion has already changed and you are left with a now undesirable colour combination that even you don’t like any more, so maybe just stick to black...that’s never going out of fashion and on a car with this much inherent design audi.co.uk
YOUR DRIVE aggression, you can be sure that peoples heads will turn whatever. This really is a drivers car - fun for passengers that enjoy speed too - but is completely impractical otherwise, so make sure when putting your order in you don’t expect to be heading on a massive shopping spree or taking the dalmation to the countryside because you will very quickly realise that driving with the dog on your lap is not anywhere near as fun. If you are after an outright sportscar that focuses everything on the road, this is the car for you. There are few cars out there for this kind of money that offer a package so close to race car status which means you can not only take it to the track and be more than happy doing a few laps, but can drive on the public road knowing that you have more than enough performance behind you to handle any situation that might arise. Staggering, face-stretching braking has its benefits in the real world as much as on the track and the rest, well, that’s the fun part. Slip into sport mode and listen to that exhaust system light up. Providing the perfect soundtrack to your journey, there’s no need to make use of the bluetooth connectivity to listen to your latest Spotify playlist, just sit back and enjoy the magestic ride this car delivers as you glide round even the sharpest of corners at speed. Few cars come close to what the new R8 offers as an all round package of style and substance.

1967 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster £POA
Beautiful British Roadster Arguably the most beautifully designed car in existence, the Jaguar E-Type is and always will be an iconic piece of British motoring heritage. Fortunately there are still a few well looked after examples around for you to make those dreams of owning one a reality, but you won't find many that look quite this good. A Series I E-Type in roadster guise finished in a stunning metallic champagne paint with tan leather interior. Could it possibly get any better looking? What's more, it has recently been subjected to a full engine out restoration to the tune of
circa £60,000 with photos and invoices of all works carried out, including an £18,000 engine rebuild on its impressive 3.9-litre unit by the Jaguar workshop. Almost everything has been renewed or replaced including rubbers, interior leather, chrome, carpets and soft top amongst others. As a result, this is an excellent example that not only looks incredible, but also drives beautifully, perfect for a weekend away in the British countryside, or simply enjoying the undoubtedly fleeting sun while we have it before embarking on a European roadtrip to the French Riviera where its quality and beauty can truly shine in the Côte d'Azur sun. This must be seen to be fully appreciated, but there won't be any chance of walking away without it if you do.

The Interior Design Trend Not for the Faint-Hearted with Faye Wilkin, Interiors Consultant at Savills London
Neutral used to be the buzz word in interior design, but these days individuality is also making its presence felt, leading to the rise of a far bolder palette. Equally, apps such as Pinterest, Houzz and Dulux Vizualiser have all been encouraging homeowners to be more daring, providing a wealth of inspiration for bright and brave designs. In terms of colour, dark interiors are proving increasingly popular. This alternative to the scandi-chic trend has been building over the last few years and has seen designers swap chrome taps for matte black ones, for example, both in kitchens and bathrooms. Shades such as Farrow & Ball’s Railings (a soft black with blue undertones) and Down Pipe (a dramatic lead grey) are bringing this moody, sophisticated look into our homes and onto our walls. It's true that darker colours have a tendency to make a space look smaller, but you can counteract this by leaving the top third of walls white. For those looking to make a bright and bold statement rather than a dark and mysterious one, botanical prints and colours are also very much en vogue - think floral patterns, dark greens and clay pinks. Being bold is all about balance. I would recommend a light flooring if you are going
to go for darker walls. You should aim for a 70/30 ratio: 70 per cent neutral colours and 30 per cent bold statement. Whichever look you favour, the three main considerations when redesigning your home are mood, size and natural light. Mistakes happen and designs can go very wrong when these three things have not been considered. For example, in a regularly used room with no or little natural light it would not be a great idea to use a dark colour scheme as it wouldn't help to reflect or bounce light. Making a successful statement means walking the fine line between being bold and being brash. Remember there is no one size fits all when it comes to interiors. If you're putting your home on the market you should consider the demographic you are hoping to sell or let to, the area your home is located in, and who it is likely to appeal to. As this home in Mile End Road clearly shows, it can pay to be bold, but make your statements with caution.

It’s not a good time - it’s a great time! The amount of excitement I've been picking up in the office every day is quite something. We’ve got bags of experience between us and have seen the market at its best and its worst, but the way positive sentiment has grown so quickly over such a short period is remarkable. As you may well be aware, the housing market moves in cycles. After a period of consistent house price growth, things start to cool and transaction levels fall. Then comes a point when buyers feel like the market has ‘hit the bottom’ and pile back in trying to take full advantage of the next period of price growth. Prices always rise in the long term, and during the last housing cycle (between 2009 and 2017) prices rose by 42 per cent and now sit at £512,100.

Don’t be fooled by what the national press is reporting Year (they’re often looking at data which is out of date because of the lag in Land Registry data). Those who have their ear closest to the ground are picking up the strong scent of a market about to start firing on all cylinders again. The potential rewards of getting your timing right are huge. Price growth has been slower over the last year, so the market is now awash with opportunities. If the next cycle plays out as the last one did, the average E14 homeowner will make £15,300 per year over the next 10 years, just by owning a home. If you want to make your next move the best yet, give me a call. Spencer Fortag

How many people have cars? The profile of car ownership is a great signal of the practical needs of residents in a local market. Most households have a car, but the number owned varies enormously based on the type of area. For example, if you live in a one bedroom flat in a city you're much less likely to own a car than if you live in a commuter suburb.
