Millions of spectators will line the route for the three-day men’s race and one-day women’s race which run between 28-30 April. Stage one will see Scarborough and Bridlington thrust into the spotlight for the newly prestigious race. STAGE ONE The Stage of the Coast and Wolds will begin at 12:35pm outside Bridlington Spa and the first intermediate sprint will be contested in Pocklington at 13:48pm before the peloton tackle the Côte de Garrowby Hill at 14:06pm. The next categorised climb comes on the Côte de Goathland at 15:42pm, and the race reaches the coastline again

The second day also sees the women's race begin on the new Tadcaster Bridge at 9.15am. From there they will travel to Knaresborough, then on to Nidderdale, Ripon, then back down to Harrogate by 12.30pm. The men will take the exact same route of 76 miles, but begin at 2.05pm and get to Harrogate by 4.55pm.
30TH APRIL – BRADFORD TO FOX VALLEY, SHEFFIELD
The final 120 mile stage starts at Bradford’s City Park at 12.10pm and takes a scenic trip to the Dales before heading back along the Aire Valley. They'll hit Haworth, Leeming, and then Shibden Wall. The race then passes into South Yorkshire with Stocksbridge and Deepcar, before heading to Midhopestones at 5.07pm. Anyone left in contention after that will duke it out for the stage and overall victory in Fox Valley at 5.15pm. Phew!

Race facts • This year’s Tour de Yorkshire will take in 304 miles of road (some of them cobbled, obviously). That is the same distance as Plymouth is from Bridlington! • The 2016 race saw more than two million people line the route to cheer on the riders. Even more are expected this year. • Unlike the Tour de France, there won’t be total road closures during the race. Roads will be closed by the police as when the peloton passes. • If you’ll be there to cheer, make sure you wear race colours: yellow and light blue.

Fancy a go yourself? On the third and final day of the 2017 race, amateur cyclists can take part in the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride. This allows people to cycle the actual route before the pros get a go on it, and covers 100, 75, or 50km distances. Not only will you get to sample the gorgeous views as you ride, but the gathering crowds will be on hand to cheer you on.
