EN 20471: 2013

EN 20471 is an international standard that specifies testing methods and requirements for highly visible protective clothing for occupational use. Such protective clothing is particularly important in industries where motorized vehicles and traffic are involved in the work. Specific requirements are set for color and reflection, as well as the placement and size of reflectors. Users should be highly visible both day and night and from all angles, including from above. The EN ISO 20471 standard is grouped into three classes (1, 2, and 3) and is linked to risk assessment of working conditions.

EN 1733:2020

This standard specifies the requirements for visibility of clothing and accessories/equipment. Products covered by this standard are intended to ensure that the user is visually conspicuous in situations with medium risk in daylight and/or when illuminated by vehicle headlights in the dark. Requirements are set for color and reflective material, as well as minimum areas and placement of the reflective material. This standard also allows for categorization of vests with reflectors for use in daylight, in the dark, or both.

EN 1150:1999

This standard specifies the requirements for visibility of clothing for leisure use. Clothing covered by this standard is intended to ensure that the user is visually conspicuous under all lighting conditions, day and night. To achieve this, the clothing must have a combination of fluorescent material for visibility in daylight and reflective material for night and other low-light conditions. Examples could include: high-visibility vests, jogging vests, and workout clothing.

WASHING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

WASHING

Follow the washing instructions sewn into the garment, and wash together with similar colors. This will help the garment maintain its appearance for much longer. It is also recommended to stretch the garment along the seams after washing to preserve its fit over time. Avoid washing at too high a temperature, as this can damage the garment and subject it to unnecessary wear. Be sure to zip up zippers and fasten Velcro before washing.

MAX. 25 WASH

Use only detergent without bleach when washing colored garments. Follow the dosage instructions on the package carefully. Overdosing can cause the detergent to cling to the garments and may leave stains. Overdosing should also be avoided for environmental reasons. Too little detergent will not clean the garments properly.

DRYING

The best way to dry clothes is to shake the garment after washing and then either hang it up or lay it flat to dry. If using a dryer, make sure the garment does not become completely dry to avoid excessive wear and shrinkage. Choose the right program based on the type of fabric, and remember that polyester dries faster than cotton.

Note: Shrinkage may occur when using a dryer.

PRESERVING LOGOS DURING WASHING

Consider the washing and drying method applicable to the garment when choosing the processing method (embroidery, printing, etc.). Remember that the sewn-in washing instructions also apply to applied logos, etc. Bleach and other chemicals in detergents can damage applied elements during washing. If using an iron, the garment should be ironed inside out.
