60s Barbara L. (Patterson) King '62 (York, PA), a native Yorker, moved to Mesquite, NV, in 1989 and is an active business entrepreneur, actress, writer, poet, and book publisher. She attended York Junior College, as well as Millersville State College and Penn State York.

70s John Fiorill ’73 (Conestoga, PA) was recently elected to the position of 2nd Vice President on the Board of Directors to the Pennsylvania State Fraternal Order of Police, which represents 40,000 active and retired law enforcement officers in the state.

Robin "Kam" Jeffries ′75 (Fort Ashby, WV) retired in June 2018 after serving for 42 years with three different police agencies.

He was a patrolman in Winchester, VA, before serving for 26 years as a West Virginia State Trooper, where he achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. He served the last 13 years as a School Resource Officer with Mineral County (WV) Schools.

Nancy (Brant) Orwick '74 (Dallastown, PA) retired on June 8, 2017, after 47 years of service as a Child Life Specialist working with outpatients at York Hospital Community Health Center and inpatients at York Hospital Pediatrics department. She is enjoying retirement with her husband, children and three granddaughters.

80s Linda Amos ′84 (York, PA) will have two poems, "Unspoken Words" and "Some Secrets," published in the 2018 Goose River Anthology.

Jacob H. Goldstein '83 (Wilmington, DE) is a Partner with New York Life Insurance and Life Securities Co. Susan J. (Bailey) Heinle ′82 (York, PA) was honored with the 2018 Women of Influence Award at a Central Penn Business Journal event held on Monday, June 19, 2018, at the Hilton Harrisburg.

Kellie M. Matthews '85 (New Freedom, PA) was named Group Vice President with M&T Bank. He has been with the bank for 29 years.

William R. Stafford '83 (York, PA) is a Behavior Technician with Pyramid HC/Soaring Heights School in Mount Wolf, PA. John S. Valdini '81 (Brightwaters, NY) was elected Mayor of the Village of Brightwaters, beginning a two-year term on July 2, 2018.

He will also continue to run his construction company, Dukes Development Corp.

90s Lt. Col. William Richard "Rick" Church '92 (Fairfax, VA) was promoted to Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and is currently serving as the Executive Officer to the Assistant Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon.

Lee G. Cohen '95 (Cranford, NJ) received his Psy.D in School Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University-Metropolitan Campus.

Christin M. (Vogt) Heidingsfelder '91 (New Cumberland, PA) has been appointed Deputy Secretary of Administration for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.

Kristine (Maciolek) Small '96 (Center Valley, PA) is the Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Talent Management at PPL in Allentown, PA. Editor's Note: Please read her profile in the 2018 Vol. 2 York College Magazine on page 31.

00s Whitney A. (Kitner) Bausman '09 (Dallastown, PA) has published her first novel, Partly Sunny: An Honest and Humorous Look at the First Weeks of Bringing Home a Newborn.

Theresa (Staley) Decker '08 (Lenexa, KS) received the 2018 Nursing Clinical Excellence Award from Children's Mercy Hospital in Overland Park, KS. Recipients are nominated by their supervisors; this year over 300 applications were received and 16 honorees were awarded. Theresa is the daughter of Debra M. Staley '16 who works in York College's Department of English and Humanities.

Deanna L. Fearon '01 (York, PA) earned the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Training, the U.S. Government’s highest honor for K-12 instruction. She has taught in the Southern School District in York County for 16 years.

Ryan R. Heycock '06 (Bittinger, MD) was ordained as a pastor and installed into service at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bittinger, in July 2018. He received his Master of Divinity in May 2018 from the United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, PA. Jessica E. Huntley '06 (Lancaster, PA) has been named the founding commissioner of the Atlantic East Conference, a newly formed college conference Division III sports comprised of seven private institutions.

Alissa M. (Simmons) Oginsky '04 (Alexandria, VA) has been named Fairfax County Public Schools Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year for 2018.

Robert L. Sefton III '02 (York, PA) was awarded the Golf Course Turfgrass Management Program Award from Penn State’s College of Agricultural Sciences. He has accepted a position at the Bald Head Island Club in Southport, NC. John P. Sinclair '01 (Maplewood, NJ) started a new role at Facebook as Creative Director.

Matthew L. Snyder '02 (Vallejo, CA) is the Assistant General Manager of the Vallejo Admirals, a minor league baseball team with the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs.

Dr. Jonathan D. Trager '05 (Schnecksville, PA) is currently employed as an Emergency Medicine and Critical Care physician at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. He is also the Medical Director for St. Luke’s Emergency & Transport Service and Critical Care Transport and will be joining Geisinger Life Flight as a Flight Physician.

Kellie (Dwyer) Yavalar '09 (New York, NY) has launched her first skincare product line through her new company, Keauty.

Erin I. (Slosser) Zebrowski '05 (Columbia, PA) graduated in May 2018 with a master’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

Erica C. Hartman '12 (North Canton, OH) began working as a Senior Designer at the National Inventors Hall of Fame in North Canton.

Willam P. Bubb '48 (York, PA), January 3, 2018. He attended York Junior College and Gettysburg College. He was a blueprint designer for York Blue Print Co. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lorma.

Carolyn J. (Pendleton) Dippery '44 (Gettysburg, PA), October 17, 2017. She attended York Junior College and worked at Apollo Advertising Agency, from where she retired. She is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Lois (McWilliams) Doyle '43 (Bordentown, NJ), October 20, 2017. She graduated from York Junior College and the University of Pennsylvania. She was an elementary school teacher in Trenton, NJ, and retired in 1986. She is survived by her two sons, four daughters, 14 grandchildren, and many family members.

John E. Keen '51 (Arlington, TX), September 13, 2017. He attended York Junior College. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly, and their son, Alan.

John H. Gay, Sr. '76 (York, PA), February 11, 2018. He served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union and helped organize the UAW chapter at Caterpillar in York, where he worked for 31 years. John and his son, John Gay, Jr., were the first father and son to graduate on the same day from the College in 1976.

Florence A. (McHenney) Gilbert '72 (York, PA), February 26, 2018. She was a computer programmer for the U.S. Navy and was an Executive Secretary for General Dwight Eisenhower when he lived in Gettysburg, PA. She is survived by a son, daughter, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Ronald H. Gilbert '57 (York, PA), December 12, 2017. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, then worked as a manufacturing planning engineer for Standard Register Company. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn, and their two children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Billie M. (Ferrell) Jacobs '80 (Carlisle, PA), May 1, 2018. She was a CPA and retired as a Financial Manager earlier this year.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clayton Jacobs, Jr., two daughters, her mother, two sisters, and two grandchildren. Robert P. Kane '50 (York, PA), February 15, 2018. He attended York Junior College, and also earned degrees from Dickinson College and Dickinson Law School. He practiced law in York for 56 years and also served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Secretary of Revenue and Attorney General. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was married to his wife, Celine, for 61 years.

John A. Larkin '59 (York, PA), March 11, 2018. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, attended York Junior College, and graduated from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. He retired as Human Resources Manager at York Tape and Label Co. Channing E. Mitzell '51 (Culver, IN), August 1, 2017. He attended York Junior College, as well as Dickinson College for his bachelor’s degree and Western Maryland College for his master’s degree. He moved to Culver in 1961 to teach history at the Culver Military Academy. He retired from the Academy in 1992, holding the position of Special Assistant to the President. He is survived by his three children and four grandchildren.

Pius “Pete” V. Pautenis, Jr. '96 (Littlestown, PA), December 19, 2016. He was a Lab Technician at Phillips Lighting in Littlestown. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Ann, their two daughters, and two grandsons.

Scott M. Simmerman '87 (Sandy Springs, GA), April 20, 2018. He also received a master’s degree in Contract and Acquisition Management in 1995 from The Florida Institute of Technology. He worked for Johnson Controls and IBM. He is survived by his parents, brothers, and two sons, Matthew and Austin.

Dale N. Suereth '43 (Cape Coral, FL), August 14, 2017. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps under General George Patton during World War II. He attended York Junior College and Lehigh University, and worked for Kayser-Roth in Baltimore, MD, for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. He is survived by his two sons, a daughter, and five grandsons.

H. Neal Sunday '50 (Delta, PA), March 8, 2018. He attended York Junior College and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Korea.

He was employed in the family tombstone business for nearly 70 years, working with his grandfather, father, son and grandson and was also a 60-year member of the Mason Dixon Lions Club. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jacqueline, a son, a daughter, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Doris Davis Trone '67 (York, PA), February 4, 2018. She was a graduate of York Junior College and then Millersville State College.

She worked in the Faculty Senate Office of George Washington University for 30 years, retiring in 2002. She is survived by a daughter, two sons, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Curvin E. Weaver '63 (Lititz, PA), June 13, 2015. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a graduate of York Junior College and Susquehanna University. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanie, their three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth (Uffelman) Wonik '51 (Red Lion, PA), January 2, 2018. She attended York Junior College and worked for Drs. McHenry and Eskridge in York for 58 years, retiring in 2008. She was a life member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in York and is survived by her daughter, and two granddaughters.

Friends Carol A. (Clements) Minnich (Kihei, HI), April 14, 2018. Originally from Pine Grove, PA, she attended the College for two years and was employed for 30 years by Guilford/Gold Mills, Inc. She and her husband of 43 years, Mark, moved to Maui, HI, in 2008. She is also survived by her son, brother, and two grandsons.

Cornelia “Cornie” Westerman Wolf (Mount Wolf, PA), June 21, 2018. Mrs. Wolf was a devoted wife and mother, civic leader, and generous philanthropist in York County. She was the wife of the late William T. Wolf, whom she married in 1947. She was the first female president of the United Way of York County and, along with her husband, was a leader in building the York County Community Foundation. In 1996, she received a Woman of Distinction award from the former Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council.
