A s a careful and successful farm er, and a devoted Christian, B roth er T hom as was sou gh t out by the co l­ lege board o f directors during the first year the sch ool w as in operation.

W h ile living con servatively in a very m odest hom e, and farm ing their land with a ’38 m odel tractor, B rother and Sister Thom as gave liberally to this new Christian college.

Their interest in Y ork increased and in 1960, the year they celebrated their golden w ed ­ din g anniversary, they retired from the farm and bought a hom e near the cam pus in Y ork. B roth er Thom as was im m ediately elected as vice president o f the Y o rk C ollege board o f directors, and the fo llo w in g year was appointed as one o f the original elders in the Y o rk Church o f Christ.

Since living in Y ork , the Thom ases have served Y ork C ollege in innum erable ways. Their devotion to the cause o f Christ and to you th is an inspiration to all. T h ey are loved for what they are, and for what they do.

A s a token o f appreciation for our beloved “ Grandpa and Grandma T h om as,” we a ffe c ­ tionately dedicate to them the 1962 Crusader.
