THE POLLEN

THE POLLEN is a botanical garden located in London, England. This pavillion uses a biomimetic method of adaptation from pollen or “bunga kenop” pollen.

Pollen is essentially everywhere and has characteristics that are difficult to destroy because there is a structure called Sporopollenin on the outside.

Pollen is also a stable organism, even pollen that existed in ancienttimesabout310millionyearsagowithtoday'spollen has similar DNA.
The use of pollen can preserve traces of the evolution of living things. From the pollen studied, it can be known what organisms grow and what climate changes from time to time.
Gomphrena globosa, or as we usually call it, the knob flower is an edible plant from the Amaranthacea family. This flower has a moon shape and colors ranging from magenta, purple, red, orange, white, pink and lilac. Inside the flower corolla there is a very small and closed flower core. Gomphrena globosa itself pollinates with the help of butterflies, bees and several other insects.

This pavilion building functions as a botanical park which contains a variety of plants. The building is made transparent to allow sunlight to enter so that plants can grow properly.

the shape of the building facade is inspired by the shape of the outermost layer of pollen called sporopollenin. Sporopollenin has a spherical shape with hexagonal details. The sporopollenin from the knob flower was adapted into its own dome pavilion structure because it is so strong.

This structure uses ultra high performance concrete material the interior of the building contains various plants, each dome has a plant theme inside. the first dome contains plants with a tropical garden theme. the third dome themed rainforest garden the fourth dome is the rainbow dome, with various types of colorful flowers
