YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

We believe the values and skills learned at an early age are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT

YMCA Youth in Government gives youth the opportunity to learn firsthand about government and civic issues by taking an active role in the democratic process, boosting youth development and contributing to a stronger community.

Youth in Government is a large component of the Student YMCA program. There are two main components of Youth in Government: Youth Judicial, and Youth Legislature. Although these are both three day conferences, the scope is much larger and much of the learning is done in the local Student YMCA.

Important Dates:

Youth Judicial: November 7-9, 2025

Jr. Youth Legislature: January 23, 2026

Youth Legislature: February 26-29, 2026
