Even in one community, there’s no one-size-fits-all life. That’s why there’s no one-size-fits-all Y. When you’re here to serve and strengthen a community as diverse and dynamic as ours, you need to be many things to many people. More than family centers in a few neighborhoods. More than what happens within certain walls.

CONTINUED OUR COMMITMENT to meet community needs with Y team members and volunteers serving over 120,000 neighbors through programs and services such as vaccination sites, food distribution centers, blood drives, virtual Healthy Kids Day® and the Better Us Challenge, faith events, and offering free Safety Around Water programs.

DEAR Y FAMILY As we continue to navigate through uncharted waters across the globe, our nation, and right here in Central Florida, we have witnessed an enduring quality emerge which has emboldened us – commitment. Commitment is defined as a quality of being dedicated to a cause or activity. No truer words have been spoken about our team members, donors, volunteers, partners and members, or even of our association itself, in the midst of all we face.

For the Y also is a commitment. A commitment to providing all people with opportunities to live healthy, fulfilling lives. Period. No if, ands, or buts. No excuses. No exclusions. No special accommodation in times of unrest, division, pandemics, hurricanes, or recessions. We witnessed how the Y delivered on its commitment to Central Florida in 2021 in bright new ways that transcended our continued headwinds. Fueled by the resilience of our team members, the support and engagement of our members and program participants who have returned, the faithful support of volunteers, donors and partners, the Y has not just persevered in these trying times, but has started to thrive once more.

CONTINUED OUR COMMITMENT to expand ways to serve the Ocala Community with the grand opening of the new Outdoor Sportsplex - thanks to the generosity of donors like Frank DeLuca and Andy Pawlowski.

CONTINUED OUR COMMITMENT to healthy living programs that served tens of thousands of adults and families through health and wellness offerings and activities.

CONTINUED OUR COMMITMENT of giving back through the Annual Support Campaign where over 1,000 donors made up of Y team members, board, members, volunteers, and community partners contributed over $800,000 to provide Y scholarships to adults, families and children in need of financial assistance so they could have access to the Y.

We have also taken confidence from the commitment modeled by those before us. Leaders like Dan Wilcox, who retired in 2021 after serving our association as President & CEO since 2015, demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serve and impact our community for good through the Y. To Dan, and other Y professionals and advocates who paved the way, we thank you. We do still have a challenging road ahead that will require difficult decisions to reshape how our Y looks and serves our community. The stakes have never been higher. So, we invite you to lean in further to your personal commitment to the Y so that our movement, rooted in our Christian heritage, will continue to advance. Now is the time to bring your best so together we can make Central Florida its best.

Because the Y is us. And it’s up to us to make the Y, and our community, what we dream it to be. SINCERELY, KEVIN BOLDING President and CEO YMCA of Central Florida
