Each year, we are reminded of the extraordinary power of community. And in 2024, we witnessed just how much can happen because of the Y.
Because of the Y, children discovered confidence and connection. Teens found guidance and belonging. Families grew stronger together. And seniors stayed active, engaged, and supported, proving that the Y is here for every stage of life. Across 13 counties and more than 35 cities, lives were transformed — not by chance, but through mission-driven programs, dedicated staff and volunteers, and generous partners like you.
This year, we saw real momentum in our long-term vision. From critical capital improvements and facility renovations to the expansion of essential youth development, wellness, and healthy aging programs, 2024 was marked by both impact and intention. Through comprehensive campaigns, collaborative partnerships, and authentic community engagement, we made meaningful strides toward a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
As we reflect on these accomplishments, we are filled with gratitude. And we are equally filled with anticipation. In 2025, we will continue building — new facilities, stronger partnerships, and deeper connections — all rooted in our belief that the Y is not just a place. It is a purpose.
Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for believing in the power of what we can do — together — because of the Y.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Chief Volunteer Officer President & CEO
Because of the Y, children
feel safe after school, families grow stronger together, and seniors find connection and purpose.
When someone walks into any YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth location, they’ll find more than a gym — it’s a trusted partner and cornerstone of community health and development across Tarrant, Hood, and Johnson counties. In 2024, our mission — to put Christian principles into practice through programs, services and relationships that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all — came alive for more than 220,000 individuals, each with a story of growth, belonging, or new opportunity.
“There is a sense of community at the Y. I love the diversity of age ranges, and the staff is always warm and welcoming!”
- Katie, Amon G. Carter, Jr. Downtown YMCA Member
Our work centers on three critical areas: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility — and in 2024, we saw growth in each.

My kids love going to YMCA camp during school holidays. They have multiple activities. I’ll definitely keep signing them up.
– Eugenia, Northwest YMCA Day Camp Parent
We created safer, more enriching environments for young people to learn and thrive:
3,339 children found a safe and structured place to go after school.
84 children gained a strong foundation in kindergarten readiness through our early learning center.
2,484 youth unplugged and made lasting memories at YMCA Camp Carter.
6,184 participants built confidence and teamwork through youth sports.
3,775 students explored nature through hands-on environmental education.
1,372 teens engaged in Teen Nights and leadership programs, cultivating skills that prepare them for life.
In the area of healthy living, we empowered thousands to take control of their health — regardless of age or ability.
I have to give credit to Jim, my personal trainer for the last several months has been stellar. I’m in better shape than I was 15 years ago and he’s the reason. I highly recommend hiring him, your money and time will be well spent.
- Matt, Benbrook Community Center YMCA Member
More than 10,000 community members came together for the Y’s annual Turkey Trot — running, walking, and celebrating healthy habits.
11,948 individuals took part in evidencebased wellness and personal training programs to prevent chronic disease and improve quality of life.
3,245 people improved swim skills and learned lifesaving water safety.
Meanwhile, social responsibility remained at the heart of our outreach.

We love the YMCA. It is family friendly, we have all the classes and equipment we need there. My daughter loved the day care program and now that she is older, she loves to use the treadmill and swim. The staff is friendly, and I have felt safer there than any gym I have been to.
- Josette, Northpark YMCA member
71,164 meals and snacks were distributed to combat food insecurity.
More than $3 million were invested in community scholarships and support.
14,979 young people and adults learned to be safe around water through lessons and classes offered at no cost through the Safety Around Water (SAW) program
Thousands of community members received support through volunteer efforts, emergency response, and resource-sharing programs.
Financials
Our ability to sustain this work and keep it affordable and accessible is thanks in large part to the generosity of others. Government grants, private foundations, and individual donors form the backbone of the Y’s impact.
Each dollar is an investment in our community ensuring no one is turned away for an inability to pay. These funds help secure the future and that the Y remains a place for seniors to escape isolation, a single parent to find a quiet and safe place to study or a teen to lift their voice and lead.
I like the exercise classes and after classes I can go and drink coffee and play dominoes with my friends that I met at the Y. It’s good to have other people to work out with, because otherwise I probably would not get any exercise or really get out of the house.
- Nylia, Ryan Family YMCA member
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we reflect on 2024, we also look forward with bold vision. New facility enhancements, expanded partnerships, and deeper community engagement strategies are on the horizon. But our mission remains the same: to ensure that because of the Y, everyone has the opportunity to belong, grow, and thrive — regardless of background, income, or zip code.
