PRESCHOOL PROGRAM Parent-Child Stage A (6-12 months):

Water discovery introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment

Parent-Child Stage B (13 months - 5 years):

YOUTH PROGRAM Youth Stage 1 (6-12 years):

Water acclimation increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance.

Water exploration focuses on exploring body positions, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatics skills.

Youth Stage 2 (6-12 years):

Preschool Stage 1 (3-5 years):

Youth Stage 3 (6-12 years):

Water movement encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently

Water acclimation increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with assistance

Water stamina develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages

Preschool Stage 2 (3-5 years):

Water movement encourages forward movement in water and basic self-rescue skills performed independently

Stroke introduction of basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Preschool Stage 3 (3-5 years):

Youth Stage 5 (6-12 years): Stroke development

Water stamina develops intermediate self-rescue skills performed at longer distances than in previous stages

introduces breaststroke and butterfly and reinforces water safety through treading water and sidestroke

Preschool Stage 4 (3-5 years):

Stroke introduction of basic stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and reinforces water safety through treading water and elementary backstroke.

Please note: All children 2 years and under and/or not potty trained must wear a non-disposable swim diaper while swimming in YMCA pools. Non-disposable swim diapers may be purchased at the front desk for $15.

Youth Stage 4 (6-12 years):

Stroke mechanics refines stroke technique on all major competitive strokes and encourages swimming as part of a healthy lifestyle

NEW! IRON HEART CHALLENGE This Februrary, join our Iron Heart Challenge!

Participating in our new fitness will help you stay focused on your goals during the New Year. Each participant is challenged to swim or row 5 miles, bike 112 miles, and run/walk 26.2 miles. The first member that logs the required amount will win our Iron Heart Winner prize!

Dates: February 11th - March 11th Cost: $15/per participant Location: Redlands Y Registration will open on January 1st but tracking won’t begin until the challenge kicks off on Feb. 11th.

Each participant will receive a t-shirt for being a part of our inaugural Iron Heart Challenge.
