ABOUT THE YMCA
OF METROPOLITAN DALLAS
FOUNDATION

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation enables the Y to remain sustainable as the Y serves children and families in each of the local branch communities. In 1996 Metropolitan Dallas Foundation was chartered as a Texas non-profit corporation to manage the investment and distribution of the endowment of the Y.

The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation exists to support the mission and long-term sustainability of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. In 2021, the Foundation launched a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure $100 million by the end of 2029.

The Foundation’s financial health remains strong. As of the close of 2024, more than $50 million has been raised toward its goal to secure $100 million by the end of 2029. Assets equal $36.6 million with a return rate of 10.5%. In addition, the Foundation has received more than $12 million in documented planned giving intentions from individuals who have included the Y in their estate plans.
The Foundation’s impact extends beyond financial support. Contributions help create lasting legacies through initiatives and programs like The Ashford Rise School of Dallas, Youth & Government, college scholarships, and Camp Grady Spruce — programs designed to equip individuals and families with the tools to thrive.

DEIDRIA ELLINGTON

Deidria “Dee” Ellington has dedicated over a decade to strengthening the Oak Cli community through her work with the Moorland Family YMCA. Since joining the board in 2011, Dee has served as a tireless advocate for equity, wellness, and providing families access to opportunities to thrive. She’s led successful Annual Campaigns, hosted countless events like Healthy Kids Day and Back to School Bash, and supported families through holiday giveaways —all to ensure that her community thrives.
Her commitment goes beyond service—it’s deeply personal. In 2016, she moved to Lancaster to be closer to the Y and her church. As Board Chair, she implemented the Eight Dimensions of Wellness to better align the board’s mission with the community’s needs. Even during serious health challenges, including a heart transplant in 2021, Dee never stopped showing up. Just a month after surgery, she was back leading meetings and giving her time to others.
Dee believes the YMCA is more than a building—it’s a family. Her story is one of resilience, service, and love for community. Through every challenge and every celebration, Dee has been a steady force for good. She is a true embodiment of the Charles P. Storey Strong Communities Award.
