

Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the nation, and has been a tremendous growing up experience for kids and teens ever since. Camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beach front on Big Cormorant Lake, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. Camp Cormorant offers a quality environment with cozy cabins, athletic fields, horse trails, full meal service, and much more to provide a safe, creative, and fun camp experience.

Adventure Explore a variety of traditional camp activities - like horseback riding, ropes course, archery, crafts, swimming, kayaking, campfires, and more!
Art Explore art techniques like pottery, drawing, painting, screen printing, and more. 20 campers/session.
Fishing Learn about baiting, hooking, seining for minnows, and other techniques as we pursue fish in Big Cormorant Lake! Camp provides supplies/ equipment or bring your own. 8 campers/session.
Horsemanship Learn basic riding techniques, horsemanship skills, proper care/grooming of horses and more as we explore camp’s extensive riding trails! 10 campers/session.
Photography Learn digital photography basics - like composition, portrait/landscape photography, aperture, and more - in the beautiful environment of camp! Camp provides supplies/ equipment, or bring your own! 4 campers/session.
Ropes Course Campers will complete the high and low ropes challenge courses, climb the wall, ride the zip line, and learn proper safety techniques. 12 campers/session.
Water Ski Spend time on the lake learning water skiing skills, like getting up on two skis, one ski, wake boards, and knee boards. 6 campers/session. Only offered sessions 3 - 7.
Wilderness Learn all about outdoor and wilderness skills - including hiking, archery, camping in the woods, outdoor cooking, and more! 20 campers/session.
Family Camp Unplug and spend time together at camp! Includes meals, kayaking, horseback riding, campfires, swimming, and more. Limited to 11 families.

Day Camps at Cormorant provide a fun experience for kids who want the adventure of Camp Cormorant, while still going home with their family each evening. Not quite ready for overnight camp? This is a great first step! Lunch and snack are included each day.

Looking for a fun summer job? Work at Camp Cormorant! Many positions are available each summer for ages 16 and up – including cabin counselors, cooks, custodial/ maintenance staff, activity instructors, ropes course staff, wranglers, and more! When you work at camp you will make a difference in children’s lives, enjoy spending time in nature, develop leadership skills, and make lifelong friends!
Camp Cormorant offers Counselor-in-Training (CIT) opportunities for teens ages 15+ who are interested in becoming a counselor. Youth ages 16+ who have already gone through the CIT program may apply to become Junior Counselors. To apply for a job, go to: ymcanorthernsky.org/jobs
Camp Cormorant is the perfect getaway location to rent for family reunions, business meetings and retreats, weddings, or just a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Rentals are available for camp grounds, facilities and/or our camp Welcome Center. Both summer rentals (June - Sept) and off-season (Oct - May) rentals available.
