The Glacier Express, also known as the "Slowest Express Train in the World," has always been an incredible, bucket-list train journey for travelers visiting Switzerland. First Class, Two-by-One Seating

FIRST CLASS First class seats onboard the Glacier Express are configured in a two-by-one arrangement across the aisle. This means that opposite every table for four is a table for two, allowing for more seating options. As there are fewer seats, they are slightly larger, with more leg and elbow room as well as more space for luggage storage. All of the seats line up perfectly next to the large panoramic windows, to really maximize the views of the stunning Swiss scenery. As with Standard Class, passengers will be offered a meal and drinks at their seat and can choose from both a set menu and à la carte dining options cooked onboard by a regional chef.

STANDARD CLASS Standard class seating on the Glacier Express is arranged two by two across the aisle, all seats are configured as part of a table for four people. On arrival in Zurich take a train from the airport to Zermatt via Visp, then head to your hotel for a two-night stay.

From May – October your included Engadin card can be used for the funicular and cable-car ride to the vantage point of Piz Nair and some spectacular views across the Engadin valley. If you would prefer something a little more relaxed, take a scenic stroll around the lake and enjoy the fresh alpine air.

DAY 2 - GORNERGRAT At a time of your choosing take a ride up to 3090m above sea level on the historic Gornergrat cog railway. As the train climbs over bridges and through a fragrant forest of fir trees passengers are awarded a spectacular view of the iconic Matterhorn mountain. At the top, there are some gentle walking trails where you might catch a glimpse of a wild Chamois or Marmot, and when you are ready take the train back down the mountain and enjoy dinner in one of Zermatt’s great local restaurants.

DAY 3 - THE GLACIER EXPRESS TO ST MORITZ After breakfast at your hotel make your way to the station for a journey aboard the slowest express train in the world. The Glacier Express takes you over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels. The views from the panoramic windows you pass mountain peaks, deep gorges, and idyllic mountain villages are often breathtaking. The eight hours onboard will fly by before you pull into Zermatt for a two-night stay.

You’ll continue your journey onboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in the morning to Paris, then change on to a Eurostar train to London for your final night.

DAY 1 - ARRIVE IN INTERLAKEN

Upon arrival, check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Head out to the city center and perhaps enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail from the top floor bar of the Metropole hotel, taking in the incredible views over the city.

After an early breakfast, depart from Chur on the Bernina Express to Tirano via St. Moritz. Ride over spectacular viaducts, through sheer rock gorges and switch-back tunnels, alongside mountain streams and glaciers. Be sure not to miss the impressive Landwasser Viaduct, which will appear on your right just before Filisur, an hour outside of St Moritz. The train climbs up the 7,391 feet high Bernina Pass and the entire trip is narrated. Food is available to buy on the train. This whole area is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The line finishes in the Italian border town of Tirano and, after time for a bite to eat, you board the train back to Chur.

DAY 2 - INTERLAKEN Take a trip up the famous Jungfrau Mountain and travel to one of the highest train stations in Europe. Travel through tunnels made of solid Alpine rock, before arriving at the Jungfraujoch. Enjoy breathtaking views to the Vosges Mountains in France and the Black Forest in Germany. The Great Aletsch Glacier, at 22km the longest in the Alps, begins on the Jungfrau Mountain. Jungfraujoch

Check out of your hotel after breakfast and make your way to the train station for the journey to Brig. The train rides the rails over the spectacular Lötschberg Mountain via Kandersteg en route to Brig.

DAY 13 - GOTTHARD PANORAMA EXPRESS/ LUCERNE fascinating glacier and ice gallery at the top. After a spectacular day sightseeing, return to town and spend the evening at your leisure.

DAY 5 - GOLDEN PASS/LAUSANNE Take the iconic Golden Pass Line from Interlaken to lakeside Lausanne. When you arrive in Lausanne, check into your hotel and start getting to know this vibrant and lively city. Visit Riponne place, Palais de Rumine, Gothic Old Town, and the streets of la Cité.

DAY 6 - LAUSANNE Use your Swiss Pass and enjoy a cruise over Lake Geneva to Evian, famous for its healing waters and spa resorts. A cruise is the best way to combine the city, lake and mountains. In Lausanne, take some time to explore and enjoy Swiss flavors like cheese fondue, Cordon Bleu, smoked féra (fish caught in Lake Geneva), or dried meats and gherkins.

DAY 7 - ZERMATT Take a scenic train ride to Zermatt today via Visp and check in at your hotel for a two-night stay. Spend the rest of the day exploring this pedestrianized village famed for being nestled in a deep valley shadowed by the Matterhorn. In the evening, enjoy the hours as you wish.

DAY 8 - ZERMATT/GORNERGRAT Today, use your Swiss Pass to take a ride on a marvel of 19th century engineering - the Gornergrat Cog Railway - which climbs from 5,262 feet above

DAY 9 - GLACIER EXPRESS/ST MORITZ Take the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St Moritz, located on the southern side of the Alps. Along the way, enjoy the full-length of this famed rail journey. DAY 2 - DAY TRIP TO MOUNT TITLIS After breakfast embark on a remarkable day trip involving a short train journey, Gondola ride then a rotating cable car to the top of Mount Titlis, some 3,328m above sea level. DAY 3 - LUCERNE TO INTERLAKEN Take the train of your choosing through the breathtaking Bernese Oberland to Interlaken, then enjoy all it has to offer whilst looking up and admiring the Swiss Skyline of The Monch, The Eiger and The Jungfrau Mountains. DAY 4 - DAY TRIP TO JUNGFRAUJOCH Today you get to witness one of mankind’s greatest feats of engineering, by travelling through the beautiful villages of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen to the peak of the Jungfrau mountain. The final rail line cuts through the face of the Eiger Mountain from where you can peak down to the dizzying valley below, before having the opportunity to see

the Great Aletsch Glacier: Europe’s largest glacier. On a clear day its possible to see as far as France and Germany, and once you have filled your camera with some amazing photos + pockets with special souvenirs return down the mountain to Interlaken to enjoy your evening.

This morning you take the scenic rail line to Zweisimmen where one of the famous MOB GoldenPass Panoramic trains will be waiting to wind its way through some of Switzerland’s most magnificent scenery to Montreux. Here enjoy a lakeside stroll, or even use your Swiss Pass to see the beautiful Chillion Castle just 3mins away with trains departing every hour.

DAY 6 - MONTREUX TO ZERMATT Depart Montreux at a time of your choosing to Zermatt. The journey will involve a change of trains in Visp and weave its way through some of Switzerland’s highest peaks.

DAY 7 - GORNERGRAT DAY TRIP Use your Swiss Pass to ride the Gornergrat Cog Railway, the steep 19th Century line which climbs 1486m in just 33mins.
