Dear Supporter, God has given us a powerful tool and a tremendous opportunity in the UK and Ireland. Through Developing Global Leaders (DGL), we are witnessing the Lord of the harvest raise up passionate men and women eager to see their countries and communities changed for Christ. The DGL programme makes a way for some of Young Life's best and brightest to actively serve in ministry, be equipped in leadership and mentored in faith whilst they study for their university degree. Over the past five years, through the generous support of individuals from across the UK and Ireland and the US, 25 students have had the opportunity to be part of the 3-year programme. We have seen students move on from DGLs to have an impact in education, ministry, welfare, and spiritual leadership, impacting not only the Kingdom of God but also bringing hope and life to their communities. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share the vision of empowering and releasing students to bring the good news of the gospel to teenagers throughout the UK and Ireland.

ABOUT YOUNG LIFE Young Life is a Christian ministry that reaches out to secondary and college students in more than 100 countries around the world. Since 1941, we have put caring adults into the lives of kids. We have walked into their world as mentors and friends. Young Life doesn't start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don't happen overnight — they taketime, patience, trust, and consistency. In the United Kingdom and Ireland (starting in England in 1997), the ministry has grown to reach roughly 3,000 young people annually in nearly 50 unique ministries. With over 200 Volunteer Leaders and 27 Field Staff, we are moving towards becoming a volunteer-fueled missional community that is committed to not only evangelism and discipleship but also developing leaders for the next generation. Young Life in the UK and Ireland collaborates with like-minded organizations to maximize the impact of the ministry. We believe that by forming partnerships with local churches, schools, and other Christian ministries, we can more effectively and efficiently accomplish our mission.
OUR MISSION Our mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. We accomplish this mission by: Praying for young people. Going where kids are and building personal relationships with them. Earning the right to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Providing fun, adventurous, life-changing, and skill-building experiences. Inviting kids to personally respond to the Good News and walking in friendship with them regardless of their response. Working in community alongside like-minded adults (volunteer leaders, committee members, donors, and staff). Young Life is funded through the local generosity of individuals, families, foundations, churches, Christian trust funds, and businesses.

UNIVERSITY YOUNG LIFE My name is Chris and I am from Bangor, Northern Ireland and I am currently studying law at Queen’s University Belfast. I love sports, especially cricket and have played it throughout my school years at a local and regional level. As a Developing Global Leader, I wish to see as many kids as possible have the opportunity to experience and accept the gospel, just as I did.

YOUNG LIVES I live in Belfast and I am currently studying theology. As a DGL I have loved serving in a highly relational ministry where the emphasis is on building trust and walking alongside teenagers. I have been specifically drawn to the ministry of Young Lives as it reaches teenage mums and their children with the love of Jesus. I am passionate about seeing this ministry grow across the UK & Ireland.
I am currently studying theology at Belfast Bible College. My heart has always been for youth ministry. I am so passionate about telling young people about how amazing our God really is and how he really will change their lives just like He did mine! I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to be a Developing Global Leader, to not only tell young people about Jesus but also to learn how to lead others with love.

I am currently studying zoology and I have loved the opportunity of engaging with students on my course and across the university about matters of faith and culture. As a christian, studying zoology, I have enjoyed many good conversations about faith and science. Questions from other student and their openness to debate challenges me to think more deeply, to read Scripture more closely and to pray more specifically for my generation.

ECUMENICAL FOCUS My name is Jamie and as someone who was greatly influenced by the love and support of my Young Life leaders, I understand what a privilege it is to serve as a youth leader, as well as the responsibility that comes with it. Through being a Developing Global Leader, I aim to complete a degree in science, to explore the wonder that is God’s earth and to hopefully use my knowledge to help others. I am also so excited to grow as a leader and in my own relationship with Jesus.

MORE ABOUT YOUNG LIFE WHILE YOUNG LIFE IS CONTEXTUALIZED IN EVERY COMMUNITY THAT IT SERVES, THERE ARE COMMON ELEMENTS THAT UNITE THE MISSION.
CONTACT WORK Young Life leaders show they care by going where teenagers are, meeting them as they are and believing in who they can be. Because teenagers don’t care how much you know till they know how much you care. Within Young Life we call the persistent going out into the world of teenagers “contact work.” But teenagers just call it friendship.
CLUB We like to think of club as a “party with a purpose.” It’s controlled chaos that’s almost impossible to describe, but teenagers know it when they see it. And before the party ends, we share a simple message about God’s love for them. After all, that’s what the celebration is all about.
CAMP Teenagers consistently tell us that Young Life camp is the best week of their life. How else would you describe a week where deep relationships are forged in the midst of mind-boggling fun, and where you hear the greatest love story ever told?
CAMPAIGNERS Campaigners is a weekly gathering for teenagers who wish to learn more or grow in their faith through study, service, and leadership. We’re with teenagers for the long haul to help them take the first steps of faith with unconditional love. Along the way, we encourage teenagers to celebrate their faith through participation in a local congregation.
