Guide on Intensive Care Unit or High Dependency Care Unit (ICU/HD)
My uncle met with an accident and was seriously injured. He was warded in the ICU for comprehensive care. He had tubes and drains put onto him. We were very worried and concerned by his condition. We wanted to be with him at all times to do whatever we could to help him.
What is the Intensive Care Unit? The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a specialised section of the hospital that provides comprehensive and continuous care for persons who are critically ill and who can benefit from treatment. Our Intensive Care team consists of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, dietitians and physiotherapists. Our nurses will orientate patients and their families to be familiar with the ICU environment.
