WEEK 3 READING: LEGER, LE CORBUSIER, AND PURISM

Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words) Pictorial space shows that the distance and depth in the painting are no longer a matter when representing the space separating one object and another in the real world. It is an illusion of space. First, the object is registered as flat, then the constellation of objects wedge together in that insistent continuity of edges which the Purists called “mariage de contour.” Also, color and texture play an important role in attracting attention to the inherent superficiality .

Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words) The two properties are “extreme contrast between figure and ground” and “textural integers”. “Etreme contrast” is when black shapes are juxtaposed against white shapes, the contrast is occurred. It displays a three-dimensional object which black-shapes became signs of an implied depth. When depth appears, it is a descriptor of texture“Textural integers“ defines the object to which they belong. We only do it from the opposite sides of that narrow.

WEEK 4 READING: TITLE OF READING

Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words) Pictorial space is an illusion space in two-dimensional drawings, it gives us an illusion of depth. Pictorial space is only true to a single point of view. However, projection is more dimensional. Projection makes the whole capacity of object, viewer can see which is hidden in the construction of the picture. Comparing these two, projection without the limits of the single point of view, viewer can see the image from the preceived view, everything is included in the picture which displays the true real spacial dimensions.

Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) Axonometric projection first arises in a military context, where it was originally used to chart the three dimensional trajectories of artillery projectiles. It arised because the questions of measurability, prediction, and verifiability. It was originally used to illustrate the three-dimensional trajectories of artillery projectiles.

ILLUSTRATED MARIO’S NEW WORLD

Final Mario World. The world is a landscape with many hidden spaces. It looks like flat, throught the different depth of colors in different sides, we can consider it as 3-dimensional world.
