NGALAN MURRUMU OF WALUBARA FOREIGN AFFAIRS & TRADE MINISTER OFFICIAL SPEECH [Tuesday 8th of April 2019] Gayaburra galin nyundu, May God's peace be upon you. I, Murrumu of Walubara, Foreign Affairs & Trade Minister of the Sovereign Yidindji Government, would like to apologise for not attending this most sacred ceremony in person, it appears that the Commonwealth of Australia is still depriving the Yidindji nation of its ability to self represent in its own matters. I would like to thank the Five Continents museum in particular Dr. Michaela Appel for her kind invitation. The removal of the remains of what many are calling the Yidindji King, were a crime committed against the Yidindji nation. It was done at a time when measuring skulls and decapitating the heads of the Yidindji tribal men and women and displaying them publicly were quite acceptable practices by those attempting to set up a British outpost. The Yidindji territory by comparison to the rest of the world, is still a fresh crime scene. The colonial view back then, is still alive today. In fact, Germans may be surprised to learn that the Yidindji nation was never included in the formation of the Commonwealth of Australia, that is to say the Yidindji were excluded and not wanted by Australia. The Yidindji and other Aboriginal tribes were considered not intelligent enough to caste a vote, there were Australian attitudes that Aboriginal people would just die or disappear. The Yidindji nation will not go away, we will not disappear. We will no longer be victims of genocide, theft or any other crimes. These ancestral remains are Yidindji, it was always Yidindji and will always be Yidindji. Never in this man's life was he a British subject and or an Australian citizen. While the return of these remains is a must, the more pressing matter to me is that they are given back to the true and correct owner, this can only be the Yidindji nation, not Germany, not Britain and not the Commonwealth of Australia. Today's attempt of a hand back of the remains of this sacred man simply sanctions the right of the victims of acts of barbarity committed by Australian and German actors, without limit of duration, the property, history and dignity the Yidindji society has been dispossessed of May God bless the men & women of Germany.
