CITY TENTACLE Renovating Dongjiao Marke <INDIVIDUAL WORK> <TUTOR> Kijyo rokkaku <TYPE>Urban design <AERA> 800,000 squares <SITE>Dongjiao Market,Beijing,China <AWARD>first prize CAFA Bachelor of architecture Graduation design <DESCRIPTION> The base is located at the Dongjiao Market, which is close to CBD area outside the 3rd Ring Road of Beijing. The market appears chaotic and disorderly like an “isolated island in the city. Therefore I considered to stimulate the renovation process of this area through a catalytic agent, bringing in people from other area, creating new urban indoor and outdoor public spaces and improving its self-adjustment and self-improvement. I wanted to make it gradually coordinate with macro environment of Beijing while maintaining its own characteristics, maximize its potential in pushing the city forward, and eventually fulfill the renewal inside Beijing.

SITE DESCRIPTION

1

The base is located at the Dongjiao Market, which is close to CBD area outside the 3rd Ring Road of Beijing. Although standing in the Central Business District with Skyscrapers, the market still appeared chaotic and disorderly like an “isolated island” in the city. Such an environment can neither help realizing the self-update to keep up with the urban development, nor meet the demands of people living around.

Art-UFO Museum design in triangular site <INDIVIDUAL WORK> <TUTOR>Wang Yu <TYPE>Museum design <AERA> 9638 squares <SITE>Chaoyang,Beijing,China <TIME> 2009 <DESCRIPTION> The piazza has a special triangular shape, and it really has an influence on surrounding transportations. The buildings around the area are related closely to the local residents, such as cultural, leisure, housing and commercial facilities. So the design concept is focus on city public space,it can make a good relationship between art and city, the shape of the museum is like a living sculpture which grows from the core to triangle base endpoints. The ground floor partly built on stilts which serves as public space patrons will be entering it through a long bridge passing underneath the mass, for one hand, the museum must be a landmark and stimulate the triangle area,it also attract more people to perform activities.in other words, this building marks the beginning of the renovation of the deserted piazza. The incentre of triangle area is also the core of the art museum, , the underground piazza also enrich varieties of space experience.

Triangle Lighr CAFA Gallery Design <INDIVIDUAL WORK> <TUTOR> Xiaohong Wang <TYPE>Small Scale Architecture <AERA>450 squares <SITE> Beijing,China <TIME>2009 <DESCRIPTION> The concept starts from a piece of paper. Cut two edges of each random triangles in this paper, then fold and rotate those triangles to make the paper stand on the ground. When I made progress model for this project, I was so excited for the visual effect of the interior space, it is vibrant and dynamic. I can imagine the natural atmosphere of this building. The design process was relaxing and enjoyable, I learned that a good concept is not only about constantly adding new elements, but also try to reflect the characteristics of the building itself by holding one element.

Design Concept How to make a piece of paper stand on the ground by itself? Firstly, cut two edges of each random triangles in this paper. Then fold and rotate those triangles. Finally, you will find the flat surface stand steadily by the support force from the triangles.

BUILDING DRAWINGS To me, this design is not only an impressing work, but also a turning point for understanding the design of architecture. At this time, I try to change the original relationship between light and construction by using the new construction system, to build the unique lighting of the interior.

U-VILLA mountain villa design <INDIVIDUAL WORK> <TUTOR> Xiaohong Wang <TYPE>Small Scale Architecture <AERA>450 squares <SITE> Beijing,China <TIME>2009 <DESCRIPTION> The base is located in the Beijing suburbs area, which is a typical mountainous region terrain, whose owner want to build a holiday villa on the top of the mountain.because the base is flexible, I want to use a concept of polyline which make the building integrated into the nature, and make a connection between indoor and outdoor space. After several experiments, I choose the U-shaped exterior, for the reason that the semienclosed space that the U-shaped provided can work as a transitional space, that is to say, people can overlook the mountain scenery outside, and can also appreciate the interior design of the building.the most interesting thing of this villa design is that the whole work was finished by hand drawing,it is a orginal feeling for architectural design using mind and hand coordination, especially.,that there was no computer aid.

Cocoon Studio Artist Studio Design <INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL WORK <TYPE>Small Scale Architecture <AERA>100,squares <SITE> Lijiang,Yunnan,China <TIME>2013.5 <DESCRIPTION> The concept of this building I wish artist would live into a creative space which could stimulate their ideas for their works, I use organic surface to combine the work space and living space. After scheme design, the difficulties are the development design which needs to challenge curved surface and structure. Next, the BIM model built in Rhino could help me to think the details and solve problems, it make me communicate with structure engineer smoothly and easily. Finally the construction drawings came from 3D model is quite complex and interesting. I learned a lot of professional skills from this project; it is meaningful for me to understand what the real architecture is.

Psychiatric Center New Comunication Space for the elderly <INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL WORK <TYPE> Psychiatric Center <AERA>77,900 sqrm <SITE>ChangPing, Beijing, China <TIME> 2011.07 <STATUS>Concept Design <DESCRIPTION> Benifiting from the demographic bonus,China is confronting an unremarkable crisis that many developed countried have already encountered. The problem is the old age boost.Located in Changping, Beijing, the design of the Psychiatric Center aims to look at the Aging issue in China, a serious result of One Child Policy. The old people are getting isolated and amitted.A mutual space concept is introduced here, to encourage people to open their minds and communicate with the others. This is not only to take care of them physically, but also to solve the problem psychologically.

<DESCRIPTION> I have learned a lot of professional skills during my two-year working experience, those knowledge involve from design concept to the details of construction, from city masterplan to furniture design. Though there are some time that I could be disoriented and confused due to heavy workload, I think the pains will be converted, and accumulated as a precious experience. I wish that I will stay hungry and stay foolish in architecture industry as well as in my life in the future, and try to find personal characteristics in design, those are my next steps for thinking and exploring.

<DESCRIPTION> This project could be called furniture design or interior design, since this reception desk is directly joined to the indoor wall, and the L-shaped wall also will guide people to find directions. The concept was inspired from paper folding, the several triangle folding copper surfaces and the light in between make this reception area possess strong visual impact,I was faced with a lot of difficulties during the furniture construction, however, the communication between me and the producers solved those troubles efficiently. After the completion of this project, I realized that the details should be more considered and experienced at the construction site more often which can improve my professional skills

It has a soft and elastic component which serves as it's shock absorber, to prevent trauma after an earthquake. The white and elastic softness of this building, let people temporarily forget about the ruins of their homes. It's a perfect place to find comfort, to relax, and enjoy coping up completely. It is transparent from the inside. From the inside, the sky, the sun, moon, and stars , bird , trees ,shadow, and figure mottled crowds are all visible, which gives hope to a person and mend a broken heart.
