Getting Here
By Air:
Idaho Falls Regional Airport (IDA) is the gateway to Eastern Idaho’s great outdoors. Located a little over an hour’s drive from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks, the airport provides the quickest and easiest option for families and adventurers alike. With five airline partners offering 12 nonstop destinations, travelers have ample choices in their travel experience.
Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines all offer a variety of destinations that fly right into the heart of Eastern Idaho. Spacious baggage claim areas, short security lines, and an easy-to-navigate terminal all mean you’ll be on your way faster and with much less hassle than at other airports. By Car:
Idaho Falls and Yellowstone National Park are wellconnected by several major highways, making the area quite accessible for travelers. Interstate 15 serves as the primary north-south corridor through eastern Idaho, providing direct access to Idaho Falls from both Salt Lake City to the south and Montana to the north.
From Idaho Falls, visitors can take US Highway 20 westward, which connects to US Highway 26 and eventually leads to the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park through West Yellowstone, Montana. Alternatively, travelers can continue north on US Highway 20 to access the park's northeast entrance near Cooke City, Montana.
Idaho Falls itself serves as a convenient gateway city with its regional airport, accommodations, and services before visitors make the approximately 2-hour drive to Yellowstone's west entrance, making the journey manageable for most travelers regardless of which direction they're coming from.

Summer
Summer is the high season in the region with bookings sometimes spanning out years in advance for river trips and wildlife tours. With the most unique intact ecosystem in the world and including both Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park, the experience is guaranteed to provide once in a lifetime experiences.
With Old Faithful Geyser and over 100,000 other geothermal features, there is no shortage of stops to make, but without planning properly, a visit into the parks can be frustrating without reservations when close to 3 million tourists pass through the area in a span of four months.
Winter
Sled dogs, snowmobiles and ski lifts are the preferred modes of transportation come winter time providing unique ways to explore the parks, Palisades, the Big Holes and Island Park. Grand Targhee Resort sees close to 500 inches of Wydaho powder each year and is exalted by both downhill skiers and snowboarders alike–the Ghee has also become a mecca for fat biking. Kelly Canyon on the west side of the Big Holes enjoys the snowfall, too, and is home to a locals favorite−night skiing.
Adventure is always a step away whether you’re staying in Swan Valley, Idaho Falls, Teton Valley, Ashton, Rigby/Ririe or Island Park, but winter travel can require longer travel times. Stay updated with local highway and weather agencies to learn about winter advisories and closures.
Spring
Spring can bring erratic weather with the last gusts of winter blowing through or spring time showers, but wildlife abounds in seasonal transition, and though you might need rubber boots and a raincoat, the Greater Yellowstone Region flourishes with migration patterns and native inhabitants emerging from hibernation. The off season is also a great chance to get premium block bookings for large groups at area hotels and score wildlife tours that will delight shutterbugs and new media fanatics.
Fall
Fall in the region is considered by many to be the "it" season of the year. With plenty of daylight to enjoy grand vistas and turning aspen trees in high valley meadows, fishing, riding bikes and dirt bikes, and taking in the last of the summits before snowfall, East Idaho will capture your travelers’ hearts as much as it will their photo reels. Ask your service providers about the availability of customized tours during each season in East Idaho as you plan to take your group through the Yellowstone Teton Loop, across the Central Corridor and beyond the Beaten Path. Though Idaho Falls sees no off season, the more remote areas in the six East Idaho counties do slow down considerably. When making reservations, confirm the availability of nearby restaurants and access roads with hotel managers.
