Their state-of-the-art facilities include computer labs, a Graphic Design studio, lecture rooms and a social area where learning can come to life.
It offers degrees, higher certificates and pre-degree foundation programmes within the faculties of Commerce and Law, Humanities and Information Technology. It also offers a variety of flexible learning methods, so that no matter where a student is in their learning journey, they will be able to succeed by studying in a way that best suits them. The campus is also the only higher education institution in the area that offers a qualification in Graphic Design.
The Metro was selected as the location for the new facility to help advance the socio-economic development of the community.
The campus was opened with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony with Eduvos CEO, Siegie Brownlee, NMB Campus General Manager, Dr Tony Matchaba-Hove and Tyger Valley Campus General Manager, Kevin Lazarus. All three emphasised their excitement in being able to promote the growth of higher education in the Eastern Cape.
“Being in Nelson Mandela Bay, we find it apt to quote Nelson Mandela himself as he always spoke of Education and the power Education has to change the world and that is why we are here, shaping potential student by student towards Africa’s prosperity,” said Dr Tony Matchaba- Hove.
The North End Cluster has taken a proactive approach in addressing service delivery challenges within its precincts after it recently enlisted the services of their maintenance contractor to unclog, repair damaged and collapsed stormwater inlets around their buildings.
Cluster Chairperson James Flanagan says this was done to ascertain the extent of the damage for immediate remedial action.
“Since posting video clips of the clean up in our group, I’ve had a call from another landlord asking for me to set up site meetings outside his buildings and to get another contractor to jet the stormwater lines. We are quite pleased that other businesses in the area are taking interest in this exercise as it will help us in the long run. ”
