OCTOBER 2023 I SIXTH UPDATE

HELLO DISTRICT CHURCH,

Happy Anniversary! This October makes 13 years that we have been impacting our city for Christ, one neighborhood at a time. When we reflect back over the years on how far God has brought us, it brings us such joy. What God has done is nothing short of a miracle. From the humble beginnings of just one small group meeting in our living room on Girard Street to dozens of Life Groups throughout the DMV, being transformed to Love, Think and Act like Jesus. We have so much to celebrate!

Can you believe that we have six months left in our MULTIPLY journey?! Be sure to mark your calendar for Celebration Sunday, on April, 28th, 2024! This will be a joyous occasion.

In this Q6 update of MULTIPLY, we would like to focus on our primary goal of discipleship through 100% engagement. Here at The District Church our 4 rhythms are: WORSHIP, GROUPS, SERVE, AND GIVE.

In the pages that follow you will learn how those who call The District Church home, are

leaning into daily WORSHIP. You will learn about our recent shift from Small Groups to Life GROUPS. You will hear about our church-wide appreciation event Volupalooza where we celebrated our dedicated volunteers who consistently SERVE. And you will hear an update on how when you GIVE it is helping us get closer to our overall MULTIPLY goal!

Also, BREAKING NEWS!! We also have a new look as a church! Along with a new website and a new church database. Each of these are meant to serve you and our community better!

God is certainly building up His church and we are grateful you have joined us on our journey!

WORSHIP & PRAYER

Over the last few months we have been able to go deeper in worship as a church body through the sermon series below. We have also gone deeper in prayer through the prayer ministry on Sundays, Life Group prayer times, Prophetic Labs, Holy Spirit Workshops, Friday Vanguard prayers for revival in DMV, and Prayer Pods. How is God leading you to go deeper in prayer in this season?

JULY- SEPT SERIES

LOVE. THINK. ACT

Have you ever wondered what it really means to follow Jesus and be like Him? Or what spiritual maturity is or looks like? These are questions that many have asked. We embarked on a five-week series that helped us better understand the biblical basis behind our mission statement: to make disciples who love, think, and act like Jesus.

THIS IS MY STORY

We believe that when we wrestle with our biggest questions, it actually deepens our faith. In this series, members of our community shared their most important questions they have wrestled with and how this has challenged and strengthened their faith!!

KINGDOM MAN

There is a crisis happening among men today. We don’t know what it looks like to be a man. Particularly in the home, in church, and in dating relationships. We have lowered the rim and kept it low. Thankfully God has not lowered His standard to accommodate our sinfulness. God lays out a path to true manhood in Scripture. A Kingdom Man is someone who lives under the Lordship of Christ and boldly advances God’s agenda in every sphere of his life.

EPHESIANS PART 1: ALIVE WITH CHRIST

The Apostle Paul’s mind rises to great heights in the “heavenly realms” as he downloads this theologically rich letter to the Ephesians. He describes how we must always start with God, rather than our problems, or our perspective. He details how everything comes from Christ and how this then enables us to be reconciled to God and to one another. It is Christ who takes us from death to life. “Because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved.”

This semester we celebrate the launch of Life Groups! This is much more than a name change from Small Groups. This represents the commitment we’ve made as a church to raise the bar, reaching for new levels of health and flourishing for our groups and leaders. We are elevating the culture of discipleship to the next level.

SERVE

In August, we had the incredible chance to shower our dedicated Volunteers with love at our church-wide volunteer appreciation event dubbed VOLUPALOOZA.

Life Groups are the engine of spiritual growth in our church. And Rooted is the engine of Life Groups. Rooted is a 10week discipleship experience designed to help you connect with God, the church, and your purpose. We have over 100 people going through Rooted this Fall and want to see everyone in the church participate! If you are new to our church or have not yet experienced Rooted scan the QR Code to sign up for the next session!

These remarkable men and women of God radiate love and dedication as they passionately serve weekly, teaching kids and youth, leading Life Groups, Rooted, hosting events, and volunteering on Sundays. God is using them greatly as the driving force behind our worship experiences, discipleship, and outreach efforts. Join us in celebrating these amazing people who light up our church with their devotion and kindness.

As we continue to grow and MULTIPLY, we have outgrown our current church engagement platform, Church Community Builder (CCB), and we are transitioning to Planning Center Online (PCO). This transition will greatly enhance how we connect with you across all of our ministries. From Life Groups, to event registrations, to checking in kids on Sunday mornings -

and even Giving! All of our ministry efforts and our ability to connect and engage with you will be strengthened by this transition.
