Epq project final presentation

the world-wide fund for nature has commissioned me to design a logo for their new campaign that protectsAfrican penguins and links animal extinction to human activity the world-wide fund.

For my project I redesigned the world wild fund logo in a more contemporary way by choosing an endangered species that could represent my new logo

To what extent my project meets the brief

My main objectives to this project

• I aim to find out about how the world wide web protects endangered species

• I will research about previous campaigns the world wild fund has done

• I will focus part of my research on a species of interest beingAfrican penguins that are endangered

• I must design a logo or painting inspired by my animal of choice being the penguins that will help promote animals’protection and replace the original world wild fund logo

• I need to research successful logo designs to help my judgment in making the logo

• I will look at painted editions of logo making

• I will need to plan out how I can present and convey my message of animal protection in front of an audience

• I must answer with my research How does human activity influence animal extinction

• I will answer How can we protect certain species of animals from going extinct

Key stages of my project

Research stage of their most successful campaign and how I found this stage to be. I looked at ho9w they protected the elephant species for example how they have set anti poaching regulations

I did some mood boards of existing logos to understand what makes them successful and their characteristics are they simple what type of colours they have used

I then looked t the corresponding species that has inspired my logo to have a back ground insight to where they are located how they look to potentially help my design ideas

The

challenges in one of the stages of my project

Combining the body of the penguin and the African continent was the hardest challenge. So what did I do to counteract it .

What I would do differently

Overall I managed to achieve and complete my project however if I could change something about my project it would be maybe the platform I used to create the logo I think it was quiet a difficult skill to learn as I had to put in so much time to learn it also I needed some support through using resources such as YouTube which were not applicable to the project I found at some stages I was repeating myself or not absorbing and understanding how to use the tools on illustrator. Maybe next time I would experiment with a different software such as photoshop

What I learned through this project

Illustrator adobe

3d software and teacher support using illustrator How to design a logo and what makes a logo successful

I gained more insight about the world wild fund and how certain species are endangered

evaluation

Pros

I really enjoyed my projects as I got to learn new things about a species I didn’t know existed I learned new ways to be innovative and come up with new ideas that communicate something unique I also got insight on copyright laws and how we can stay respectful as designers

Cons

I found that time management was difficult as I would have loved to present a further extended physical model in acrylic of my logo it might not have been a requirement but it would have helped me in my presentation

The design process of merging the African continent to the penguins body was difficult and also time consuming however it was beneficial for the design process
