I used clay to create some curved model structures for an idea that could compliment the parametric aspect of my project

I used the parametric images as well as my research on leaves with holes to inspires theses curved walls that compliment my apartment building

Final development stage

Final model

This s a physical model of my final outcome from this project as you can see I have my site along with the 2 buildings that I set to design made on my site

This model that is being displayed here is the final outcome of my multimedia video centre as you can see I used 3d printing as the method to be able to make thee shapes and forms

to the contrary I made my apartment building by hand meaning that it was more difficult in terms of the making process. I used grey card to make the semi sphere like form and wire net with holes to represent the parametric pattern that I got from my research on leaves

Here are additional images and view points of my final model. As you will notice my site is a brownfield site that is near a green space so I my model I added additional trees and also people to show the scaling of how everything works around my building

my buildings in more context

On this slide I will be showing you different view point and perspectives of my finalised model I will be focusing specifically on the multimedia video centre building and how it fits on the site. As you can see I maintained a genuine colour scheme for the location so that it keep everything clear neat and professional . What works well is also the fact that I included shadows to make it look more realistic in terms of my presentation . I was able to add additional details that my physical model wasn’t able to show you as well

Evaluation

For my component one project I was commissioned by the council from the borough of barking and Dagenham to design a multimedia video centre that provides entertainment. The aim was to produce this building with inspiration from the theme of movement and flow. Dagenham is know for mainly being industrial It doesn’t have a place that provides a capacity for entertainment. As well as designing this building I was also asked to redesign the existing appartement buildings to be more modern. Visually the theme that I selected is organic forms. I was able to do a lot of experimentation which further guided this building to take a more creative turn by introducing a parametric aspect to the design.

I took most of my inspiration from Zaha Hadid who is typically famous for her abstract touch to architecture work . I chose her as her work explores curves and adding parametric holes which has helped me understand how I can link and apply these visuals into my development for the 2 buildings I have designed. I would say that I was able to accomplish fully designing the exterior of my building design ideas as they were quiet challenging in terms of how I would manipulate such difficult themes into my work. I would say that my work would have been better if I chose to explore the interior aspect in more depth so that it could match the exterior complexity of my 2 buildings. Aside from that these 2 different buildings were able to work well on the site as I was able to use my research to know how I can deal with integrating 2 different buildings on one site
