What you need to know about the costumes of Costa Rica: Table manners of Costa Rica

1 Do not start early Even if you're the first to be served, etiquette rules say you should not start eating until everyone has a full plate on the table. Unless the host says you can start now. 2 Keep up with your tablemates Try to go at a speed similar to that of your table companions. If you go slower, you will wait for the rest and if you finish much sooner it will be your turn to wait for you. 3 Do not make noise Chew with your mouth closed and without opening your mouth. Do not sip the soup or blow on it if it is hot. Of course, no belching or other unpleasant sounds.

4 Cut only one piece of food at a time Cut the piece of food that you are going to eat. It is not polite to chop a food and then eat it piece by piece. 5 Do not drink without having finished chewing First chew and then drink, but not too long drinks. That does not seem that thirsty. 6 Use the napkin The napkin is to be cleaned when necessary, although it is always advisable to try to stain as little as possible. By the way, the napkin is held in the lap when not in use. 7 Do not lean on the plate An old norm says that food is the one that has to go to the mouth and not the mouth to the food. Always stand straight without resting your elbows on the table. 8 Leave the cutlery When finished eating, the cutlery is left on the plate. In the case of the fork, the jaws are left down.
